What time are the Nations races today in the US? The GT webpage is not real helpful, it just lists the whole window for the day, but not the (3, I assume) race times.

(EDIT) sharing for others, after I had a chance to get online.

And tomorrow's Manufacturer Series races. Same time. I assume they're consistent, but this is my first season.

That was way better then I expected!

Practice was a desaster, was with the Supra at 1.39.2 while everyone in my friends list was at least 0,5sec faster. Maybe that was the reason that I switched last second to this little sports car:

So Qualifying was a desaster, 16th out of 19. But I have to say, the GT86 was a userfriendly race car. With a 2-Stop 10M 8H strategy, I was able to had a lot of fun. Sportmanship was except of T1 pretty good and was able to go to the 10th position before my 1st stop. After I topped the fuel up to 95% and switching to the hard tyres I went back on the track as 16th. Suprisingly my lap times didn't drop too much, maybe cause my learning curve with the car was kicking in. Another theory may be, that the delta with hard tyres is smaller with a lighter car, so I was finally able to outperform the big toys.
Last lap I was 7th but the poor Greece gentleman in front of me slowed massivley down with his Alfa, I guess cause of lack of fuel.
So I ended up 6th and I couldn't be much happier with this :D

Well done!

Third time lucky I came 3rd after two races that were ruined with dirty drivers.

I qualified 3rd and did 8 laps RH and then 2 stints of 5 laps each with RM. I used the 458 because I am familiar with it, as I am using Ferrari for manufacturers series.

I tried the Alfa but couldn't be consistant during practice.

I wanted to use the Supra as well, but in that race, I would have would have named it, "Master Shredder".

Sounds similar to my intention, maybe another point of my last second change. I still have the feeling, that the Supra is a bit under damped. Once it has found his position in his ride (like if you snag into your pillow) it is comfortable and good, but this takes some time. And while moving around it consumes his tires till the Supra has decided to be fine with your steering input.

I tried that. You have a choice of pace or fuel - I didn't even make it to the finish line on two full tanks, though I did at least make it to the finish line of the normal track, so it was only a couple hundred yards of coasting :D

Agreed. Just tried it in a practice race, I made the fuel last but I had to do 39’s and 40’s to do it. Back to the 4C it is then. :D

Exactly.

I'm giving the race a go now.

I'll be running the little 86, as it's a favourite car for me, and it's not often a car I like is a leading choice!

I'm intending to run a set of mediums until they're spent, hop on hards for a lap or two and then switch back.

Well... I have no words - better drivers than me have avoided this race...but not me. I put a 1.37.1 in free practice with my Durex branded Porsche #staysafe.

Plan was to get 100 points, it was a difficult track for better Romanian drivers and I thought I can improve my DR.

1st Slot - almost perfect quali, put the Porsche in P2 on the grid. Lost one position in T1 and the messed up the octogon corner helped by pushing from others and cold tires. Down to last and start again - pushed, caught up a group of 7 cars and in the chicane I was pushed in the wall. It was lap 7, had enough pace to recover to P11.

2nd slot - Take race 1, rinse and repeat. Again finished 11th after being pushed in the wall twice. Only difference was that this time I qualified 6th.

3rd slot - qualified 3rd, got pushed around in the first 5 turns, managed to resist only to be hit from behind in the last octogon corner. Needless to say I was last again, pushed to hard - spun by myself and finished 15th.

4th slot - disconnected.

5th slot - messed up both quali laps, started 17th on Hards. I let the cars behind pass, with the thought of following closely first 2 laps until the field is spreading and avoiding any trouble. I succeeded, till the octogon when a Toyota lost it, managed to save the car just enough that I got closer and then lost it smashing me in the wall in the process. Of course I lost about 4s, then the next lap I caught up 2 cars, a Porsche and an Alfa. In the chicane, Alfa rode the sausage, messed up and... you guessed it, smashed me into the wall... Lucky for me I was pointing in the right direction. Had some clean air, put in some good laps then pitted on mediums. Had one of the best recovery 10 laps of my laps, getting from 18th when I left the pits up to 8th. A 1 min penalty from one car in front gifted me another position after the finish. Good position , recoveredmost of my lost DR - but I had such a bad luck today...

Whelp, I'm going in with very little practice for a one and done - I have a meeting that starts right as slot one is going to finish! I can tell the Alpha's the META but I like the Lancer going the other direction for this track, so I'm gonna give that a go. I can tell from a few practice laps that I should get 10 laps without fuel saving. I wanna see if I can short-shift my way to at least 11 laps, if not 12.

My 2nd Race went well, Well behaved racers in it & Was Battling close for the first 5 Laps before we all started to break away from each other.

I was neck & neck with the Leader for some time nicking the position back and forth until we pitted. I Pitted Lap 11 as I wasn't fuel saving, Pitted for the Hard Tyre & Dash of Fuel to get me 6 Laps worth (Which I later regretted so much) As I had to start fuel saving on the last two laps due to not having enough in the tank and My Gap of 0.5 Secs went to 3.5 Secs as I conceded for 2nd in the end!

Thought that was enough for tonight and sadly missing the Manufacturer Cup tomorrow completely due to work. Being last minute called in is a pain considering I was really looking forward to RBR with the GR.3's!

Well, after the Supra race, that’s two in a row now that I’ve qualified top 5 and got run of the track on the first lap, T1 this time. I think I’m gonna take a pass on FIA for a while, spending hours of time on practice just to get run off on the first lap gets old pretty quickly. Have a good season everyone. :)

P3 in Nations after starting from pole.

Could have won this if it wasn’t for a terrible crash on lap 11 that took me almost a lap to recover from.

Very good lobby, very fair driving.

Having a blast. Hope I can pull off something similar in Manu tomorrow.

Where is the dislike button?

Don't bail on FIA, it's been fun racing with you.

Cayman is pretty good, more stable than Alfa, harder to get bullied about, gets to half distance on mediums before needing fuel and has plenty of empty space in the tank after pitting. If I hadn't have been rammed before starting a hot lap and been given 2s for it, I could have qualified better than P 9 and finished higher than P6 (helped by the 'winner' not noticing the tyre requirements and dropping to P12 on the line!).

Good to hear you had a good race!
For sure it’s still hit and miss... I wish they had tried something with SR numbers too, to penalize drivers who keep going from SR S, B back to S, C etc.
As a general rule I cover the inside of most corners on lap 1 or until I get a good understanding of who I’m racing with. It might be slower but in my experience most issues occur with divebombs, when not covering the inside.
I also noticed signs from a few people lately: draft bump followed by warning lights usually meaning “let’s work together”... at least for a while :D.

If you could see the Rage I had after this happened to me the race before honestly... Don't give up on it! Lots of time to get some good racing in. Just have to hope and pray and with a bit of luck you'll get a sensible lobby. I had experienced the worst Lobby before my last race tonight.

That T1 today was brutal. I was settling in to watch a good race and BOOM................

Haha, maybe you nailed it in qualifying! The only reason I think we have the weight of fuel is because the qualifying times are still a bit slower (I think) than the TT times where there is no fuel weight. That's my only logic.

I haven't raced yet since the update, but I'm pretty sure this is because tire wear is still on for qualifying, but fuel is not. So even though the fuel tank is empty, the grip is different than TT so cars will still be a bit slower. I wish they would change the free practice to match the actual in-race qualifying settings. The current system would be perfect with no fuel load but tire wear on, so you know people wouldn't be setting their lap times on a nearly empty tank but the grip model would match the race settings.

I don't think I posted here once so I'll start with today's DTG Nations race. I used the 4C, it's a pretty strong car for me having used Alfa Romeo for 3 - 4 manufacturer seasons and I seem to perform better on tracks in reverse. It ticked most boxes.

I didn't qualify too well, a little outside slipstream and started 10th with a 1:38.6 on M tyres. The race began surprisingly steady and I somehow passed most of the pack at T1 which brought me to 4th. I kept ahead of the car behind by 2s and within 1s of a Megane ahead for most of the first run. I short-shifted a little to squeeze an extra lap out the tank to pit on L12. I had a lap to myself in clean air which may have been key since everyone else pitted on L9 - 11.

I was surprised to come out the pits in first with a 4s gap from P2 and the unexpected happened, I won with a 175 point total. I'm there for a good time and battle for x position so winning a race doesn't enter my mind very often so I'm quite pleased with the result.

Yep, i didn't know what it was but knew the pace wasn't the same as the TT. I agree with you, they need to make all the physics line up so you don't need to find a lobby to practice before a race, it would be more convenient to hit the TT.

Just going to post the one video tonight, from my one and only shot at the North American races. Only earned 27 points from EMEA in a C/S race, having just dropped out of B/S thanks to a couple of Dailies.

Nations

North America, Dragon Trail Gardens II

Slot 2:

Highlights (7 minutes):

Qualified P2 (Door 15) in the Porsche Cayman, much more stable than the Alfa. But of course, i was taken out by the P3 car. First, a bump at T1, followed by putting us both off the track after going under the bridge. During the race, he made unnecessary contact with 5 other cars, one of them 3 times. I had no qualms about payback later in the race, though it turns out I needn't have bothered as he was too daft to read the tyre requirements - his 3rd place finish ended up as P13! He couldn't leave the lobby fast enough!
I, on the other hand, still managed to come back to finish P2, even after a couple of weak contact penalties and earned 51 pts.

I learned some things in today Nations race. The first being that being in a SR A FIA lobby can be quite fun and entertaining but I don't know if I ever want to do it again.

The lobby ranged all the way from DR S to DR D. Some people were there because I'm guessing like me they got mixed up in some combination of bad decision making and a slightly broken SR system. However, some of them were there because holy crap do they deserve to be there.

For the first couple of laps I saw a lot of intentional ramming going on - on the straights, into corners, out of corners, it was absolute chaos. It was, however, somewhat entertaining to watch when it wasn't happening to me. The guy brake checking me when I started to draft him almost made me lose my cool but I thought better of it, as I really needed to repair my SR.

Long race in short story form:
I qualified P8 because I had a hard time getting through traffic on my second flying lap. My first flying lap was just slow, I'm not sure why. I came in with very little practice but knowing that I like the Lancer when this track is going in the normal direction and knew from my practice laps that I should be able to get about 10 laps on a full tank. I hoped the tire adjustments from the new update would be my friend and planned on fuel saving to 11-12 laps on the RM for a one stopper.

If I could have held onto a draft longer, I probably could have gotten 12 laps out of it. But I short-shifted my way to 11 laps on the RM. This is the first time I ever actively fuel saved for that long and let me tell you, when I put on the RH and enough fuel to get to the end, it has never felt so good to give an engine fuel rev. I come out of the pits in P8 but no longer worrying about fuel I start catching up pretty quickly. By the final lap, I'm in P6. I'm almost 1 min behind our DR S leader but a full 23 sec ahead of P7.

When I cross the finish, 2 people ahead of me get tire penalties and I bump up to P4. I also notice that something like 5 of the rammers had quit the race. Good riddance, I'll never have to see them again. Oddly enough, with the least amount of practice I think this is the most points I've gotten in a Nations race.
