Of course, it's impossible to tell without the replay but from the way you describe it, it's as much his fault as yours. Yes, maybe you could have stayed tighter in the turn but he also has to be more aware. Going wide then cutting sharply while in traffic is usually a recipe for disaster.
It was my fault. He simply took a wider, more parabolic line than I did. I misjudged his return and was responsible for the tap. If he had radar on and if he was paying attention he would have seen me for sure but I don't think he did....

On lap 10 I was 4th, the unlucky guy up ahead was gingerwarrior180,

Actually, it was Lap 9. I skipped to 10 and missed it at first;) I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. if it was me you'd tipped, sure I'd me annoyed, but the replay certainly seems to show contact was minimal and possibly his car was off balance on the kerb and therefore a spin was going to be easier anyway.

Enjoy the win, I say!

Did the Z4 feel relatively competitive power wise? I did a practice race in the Z4 last night and felt the draft and a good run out of a corner would only get me a tad closer to the car in front (mostly Porsche's). If i got next to a car I couldn't pass it though. I know the new draft is a lot weaker (which I'm a fan of), but if felt like anyone behind me could catch up rather quickly. I was lapping at mid 1:30's for most of the race and scored a high :29 to give you an idea of my pace.

I was super tired last night, so it was hard to judge if it was me that was off or if the car is down in the horsepower department.

Power wise, it wasn't as bad as i expected but you do lose out on the straights against the merc's and the porsche's. So when you do come up against those cars you need to try and stay in the draft.

Don't be so hard on yourself for incidents that occur after another driver makes their own mistake. He missed his braking point, he clearly missed the apex, and while straightening out on the rumble strip that we all know is slippery he was trying to recover. Sure, you came in at speed and made things worse for him, but at the point at which you would have time to react you would have been on the throttle already, and that's racing. We all end up on the receiving end of stuff like this, but the way to avoid receiving it is to make sure you always lock down your apex and exit speed even if it means sacrificing entry speed by braking early. If drivers run laps on the ragged edge, they open themselves up to other drivers getting along side in places they shouldn't. I don't think there was a way for YOU to avoid hitting him once he slowed down that much.

It took three attempts, but I had another great race tonight. Just mentioning it as I see disappointed members here that are fed up with GT Sport. I agree it can be incredibly frustrating. Since it attracts such a broad audience I guess it's statistically normal to attract good and bad drivers. But the good thing about FIA is, if you have time, you can try again. If we stop racing then the dive-bombers win right?

Here lap 1 was so tricky... I got punted off twice at turn 3. I did follow my usual strategy of covering the inside there especially, since the gravel is a death trap on the outside, but STILL got lunged from way too far back...

Third race was the one, qualified 7th finished 4th in a very close pack. So even though there were frustrating moments, I leave the game on a good note, looking forward to the next rounds!

Also, I got this penalty which I found quite unfair. I'm sharing in case you see a good explanation for it other than "???":

Slot 1:

Still trying to get back out of C/S...

Highlights (6 minutes):

Qually was spoiled by the car in front making a mistake which would have clearly prevented him setting a better lap, yet he didn't back out and compromised my lap instead. I'd had a clean enough start of the race from P, swapping places with a German BMW, but he hit me on Lap 6 at T1 and spun me out at T2. 🤬 After the race, he called me a "bad racer"!!!:banghead: When I pointed out it was he who had hit me, he maturely replied"blaablaa".:dunce:
Lap 9, in P6, I was taken out by a British McLaren which had been punted into me by a Polish BMW who I'd only just allowed to pas me to serve his penalty, knowing I'd re-pass whilst he took it! And I got the 2s 'outside of the corner' penalty for my troubles. Nothing for the McLaren (fair enough, not to blame) but only 1s for the BMW who was the only one to continue instead of being stuck in the gravel! That left me P9 after the penalty. Made it to P6 but only just held onto it as my 7 lap old tyres went suddenly from fine to zero cornering grip towards the end of the final lap. Not the first time that's happened in races:(. Just 28 pts.

Slot2:

Highlights (4 minutes):

Decided to try a no-stopper this time. Started in P6 after qually was spoiled by the car in front making a mistake which would have clearly prevented him setting a better lap, yet he didn't back out and compromised my lap instead. Of course, he started right in front of me!

I was challenging for P2 as I approached the line at the end of Lap 1, but the pole-sitting German BMW driver decided to come across from the right of the track to squeeze me off the left-hand side. He barged me several times, but I was past into P2 before T1, with a ram up the rear of the car from him in doing so. That enabled him to get back in front before I tapped his rear quarter and he spun out. Karma. But that had let a Lithuanian Ferrari into P2.

I re-passed him on L6 and was in the lead at the end of L8 when the lead car pitted. I was never less than a little under 7 seconds in front of the Ferrari after that and won comfortably enough to take the last 3 laps very cautiously to avoid a repeat of the grip issue from Slot 1. The German BMW? Finished 19th and last, receiving criticism from others for his conduct. Only 39 pts for the win, but a CRB which will at least aid in getting me back to B/S. With luck...

Not great points, but I'm more interested in improving my DR for future rounds, so I'll stick with that.

Edit: No need to refuel in the Nissan, and no fuel-saving required, just got to be a little gentle on the tyres under braking and round the corners.

yes, the Mustang touches you, he is on the inside, you are outside, instant penalty

So far i'm having fun with some decent results.

Qualified 8th in the lexus on the rbr, a bit unlucky with the traffic, mostly a calm race, no stops, and i was able to keep the same pace for the entire race. A bit of fighting against two mercedes, finished 5th really close to 4th place.
(tried a second slot, it went horribly lol)
Still not sure if i'm happy with lexus, we'll see.

Yesterday i qualified 8th with the audi tt, i was too inconsistent with the alfa.
A bit too much chaos at the start, managed to finish 6th.

Just completed my 2nd race of the evening.

Finally got a clean run in qualifying, and i managed to qualify P5.

At the start of the race i got punted off at turn 2, i came back on track and as i was braking for turn 3 i get punted off again, now I'm 2nd last. A few laps later i was racing a guy in a Alfa, and this guy had no spacial awareness what so ever, it was unbelievable. Anyway, i managed to fight my way back to P8.

The standard of driving in some of these lobbies is truly abysmal.

It looks like you had a good time! I am just above the C-B line, was in C a few days ago for a visit.

As the game sees it, you turned in on the Mustang.

yes, the Mustang touches you, he is on the inside, you are outside, instant penalty
Ok thanks. I guess I could have taken a wider turn, but he came from so far back...
Or I should have covered the inside but, when I see someone 1s behind, I really feel stupid doing that. Better safe than sorry though! The Mustang ended up rage quitting a couple of laps later after a few other incidents.

Had two races today on the Red Bull Ring with my Porsche. For the first race I managed to start fourth despite an angry Beetle determined to ruin my qualifying session. Didn't matter anyway because I got murdered into T4 and sent back to 15th place. From there I recovered through the carnage to finish 7th.

For my second qualifying, things got a bit more intense. I was minding my own business taking T1 when both cars in front go wide. I go past an R8, and am now right behind the GTR going into T3. After perfectly anticipating my braking behind the GTR, I get bashed by the R8 behind, sending me and the GTR off the track. The R8 was not getting away with a double hit. Into T4, I go hard as I can into the back of him, sending him off into the barriers. (Alonso Voice) Karma!

The second race was a lot more enjoyable. Starting 7th, managed to climb into third, and had a four-way battle for most of the race. The problem with my Porsche was that, I was so quick in the second half of the lap, that by the time I enter the last corner, I'm right behind the car in front and lose momentum for a pass down the straight. Had a small spin which caused me to finish 4th in the end.

Hi All, I'm a new member to the forum. I starting playing the online racing mode when the lockdown started last month (after just racing vs. AI since Christmas when I got the game), and I am having a lot of fun with it! I am still DR D (made a very brief appearance in DR C last week before falling back), but I'm learning and getting a little better.

I found this forum recently and you all share a LOT of good information.

I am using VW for the Manufacturers races because the Scirocco and Beetle are very stable and easy for me to keep on the track (which is priority one for a beginner like me at the moment :)). I used the Scirocco in yesterday's Nations race too since I am familiar with it, and managed to finish 3rd. It was only worth 10 points given my level, but I was proud of the result regardless. Looking forward to driving the Beetle at Red Bull tonight.

I look forward to interacting with the group. I am on DS4 and using Auto Transmission - my 52 year-old brain has not been able to handle Manual trans whenever I try it out, haha!

No need to blame yourself for the stupidity of the game's penalty system.

Welcome, you have come to the right place.
Oh, and I have the same problems with MT, I am 56, use ds4 and AT :D

F! I picked the Ford GT instead of the Mustang figuring while the Gr4 is a very stable platform and does corner exits very well the Gr3 would just be a giant iron so I went with the GT.............. guess we'll see how I pan out tonight
Well, RBR turned out to be more of a power circuit than I thought. Clean exits will make up for time lost to good handling cars, like the RSR and Huracan.

Keep in mind, this GR.3 Manu season have some tracks with pretty long straights. DT:S should help you out.

GR.4 Fuji & Tokyo, will be interesting. My last outing at Tokyo in the Mustang, I was being beat down the straights by 86s. Have fun!

Qualified 5th, was battling for 5th before a Monster Energy-liveried Mercedes threw it up the inside into T2(3?) in Lap 7. I give him space as he was painting morse code on the side of my car throughout the race, and still on the exit he just turns out in order to spin me out, while I was literally on the kerb with nowhere to go. He gets no penalty of course.
Down to 18th, decided I'd rather quit this than keep going. Probably will take my gamble in the Last Chance Saloon in a couple of hours...

Welcome! I was DR D when I started posting in October/November. I've grown a lot since then because of the help of these guys on this forum, so it's worth of your time! You also have a good taste in music

Second try, second time getting punted off, second time I've had enough of the same old 19th place purgatory.

So... once quali started I was all by myself.

I just went with it.

Drove the race all by myself. Will it count?
If it does I’ll leave it at that

The punting is getting ridiculous. Just done my 3rd race and i got punted off 5 times in the space of 2 laps. I keep qualifying in decent positions then my races get ruined by the punters.

Just saw this

I'm out of the top 100 by one point. Ironically, by the Lambo that speared off from 2nd in my race. Still, a lottery to do multiple races.

No it won't count so you should have just quit. ;)
