Anyone chose Dodge for this season?

Feels like garbage. Everyone has speed except me. I'm far from the best drivers around, but even I feel something is not right. Or it was a bad decision from the start?

Some time ago I was building DR with it. Or I'm in higher DR and can't keep up..
As a Dodge driver for 3 seasons in a row now, thought I’d defend them! You’re right, it’s not the fastest car but the handling makes up for it on most tracks. It’s stable and grippy. It’s not the best car but certainly not garbage. Unlikely you’ll win many races in it but should be able to finish high each time. I’ve rarely finished outside top half. (bet I’ve jinxed rest of my season now )

This is also probably obvious to the experienced drivers here, but for noobs like me, something I noticed in qualifying is that, for the last flying qualifying lap, you can dive into the pits and get a fresh set of soft tires because the pit lane is located way behind the starting line. I'm not sure if that's a good strategy though because of colder tires, but hopefully someone with more knowledge can comment on that.
Should be faster to exit out and go back in. Only reason to keep doing laps during qualifying is having really good tow.

In most cases, you want to used the softest tire for as many laps as you can. So if you figure out how many laps you can get out of the softest tires, you can then figure out how many laps you’ll do on the remaining tires. :)
Sounds good. So what sort of distance are people getting out of using the Softs for the Nations Cup race?

EDIT: I mean the Mediums. What about the fuel depletion rate only being 2x? Could I just stay on the Hards and no-stop it?

I'm getting 9 laps out of the Medium tires.

Fuel isn't an issue for Nations. It's possible to no-stop on Hards, but two things:
1. You'll need to constantly be on a tow (slipstream) to keep up with the Racing Medium folks.
2. You have to take care of your tires. The better you take care of them, the last 3-4 laps won't be as miserable, compared to one who doesn't take care of them.

For me, 1 stop vs. 0 stop were 5 seconds apart, the latter being the slower one. This was done without any slipstream. I'm curious to see if any of the top people can make a 0 stop just as fast, or faster than a 1 stop.

I just ran a Nations practice race, I could only make my Mediums last for 7 laps. I had an S DR player in my lobby who pit at the end of lap 7 as well with much less tire wear than me. After the race he was thinking a 2 stop might be faster, but he needed to test it further. So, definitely want to test for yourself.

Did the Huracan Cup. eh... Ran all the way to lap 14 and quit. I was half cruising and this car still felt unsettled. The penalties for track limits are bogus. I subscribe to the mantra of "It's the fool, not the tool", but this car is ridiculous. A sniff of tyre wear and off you go. Brakes? What brakes? Oh, you want to start braking early? NO! How about we increase that braking distance just randomly? That'll frustrate you, with just the right amount of angst.

One for the whining- and-crying-so-much-I-want-to-laugh-thread: Race entry. Wait til the 2 minute mark to enter. loading... loading.... loading.... loading... Not allowed to enter.

Enter too early, I used to get booted. Enter under 1 minute, I miss the connection. Try a Daily Race. I'm in ready to Free Practice before matching. Sensational! Well, at least I'll have some din-din and watch James Bond until 7PM.

Anyone got tips for the Gr4 Nissan? I'm running mid to late 2.06s for race pace, and honestly I don't think it's good enough for low/mid A rank.

I know the car isn't amazing, but I hate blaming it on the car. I tend to short shift in everything, but I've noticed this car has an awful gearbox and I have to rev it to the maximum to get the laps, any other small tricks I can play with to get that little bit quicker?

Oh, PD. You and your miniscule penalties...

Started 4th. Good thing pit-building is before the finish. Almost ran out of fuel just making sure I got to Lap 7. Lost spots having to fill up almost all the way. Surprised with FL though.

Wow! Was just in my race at Tokyo. From 9th on back it was a giant pinball machine. It was so bad through the docks lap 1 that at least 4 cars were ghosted and 3 more had penalties in a giant pack. I was given 1 sec and I didnt even touch anything. Drove ok but started to fall off and just kept getting enough slight wall runs to keep me in the back where i belonged. :D I could grumble but I definitely earned my finish back there.

Not going to bother anymore tonight. Came out better than I thought, but it was bad enough that 2 people quit anyway. @05XR8 was in my race and at least got fastest lap.👍

The docks were bizarre. How cold were the tyres? *as Outkast yells*"ICE COLD!"

We all hit the brakes and all five of us straight into the docks. I got 1.5 for ruining my own race. Plain silly. Watching the replay now.

The Monza Huracan race has a very interesting dynamic. In top split most of the front runners tend to run LONGER on the hard compound, up to 8-9 laps. It seems that with draft, the hards can quite easily stay with the medium runners early in the stint. If you try to extend the medium stint beyond 7 laps, cornering grip is still OK but hard braking becomes sketchy and as you all know, Monza is all about braking. Having driven the Huracan a lot for Manu this season, I also have a feeling that this car actually handles better on low grip tyres. On high grip tyres the rears become more planted than the front and makes the understeer worse despite higher overall grip. What a confusing car to drive

As for Tokyo race, well it's the usual second split affair. Divebombs, pinballs, sideswiping, moving under braking, you name it  Everyone's mentality seems to be overtake every corner instead of thinking the long game, bump drafting and saving fuel. Went 4M/8S but probably pitted too early as it puts me right in the thick of traffic :grumpy: Thankfully a couple cars ran out of fuel at the end and bagged 6th place and highest points this season :D

Well I did the Lamborghini race at Monza and my muse did come from the racing but the best bit of comedy was reserved for the seeding.
This is the second time I have seen this, the room was I seeded into was all D rated drivers, like me, but with one S rated driver! The S driver qualified over 3 seconds in front and won by over 52 seconds!
Earlier this week, the same thing happened in a lobby. All D but one A driver!
Good for them but a bit unfair that they get a scott free clean race. Does this kind of thing happen often? I finished 10th in that race and got 9 points. I tried the next race (all D's until 7th then A's, B's, and 1 S) finished 14th and got 23 points! Lucky I don't really care about my points.

It can happen, and from what I understand is more likely to happen if your SR rating is S but also below 90.

Also be aware that an S-ranked driver isn't necessarily an A+-rated driver. Anyone who qualifies for Star Player ranking gets the S, whatever their actual rating - they could be the ninth best driver in Slovakia (not picking on Slovakia, it's just a place with few people and participants) and qualify, even as a C- or D-rated driver. They could also have had a DR reset from a destroyed SR, and regained their SR rank but still have a low numerical DR disguised by the S-rank.

Thanks for this. I'm testing the Huracan just now and it really feels weird once the mediums start wearing. Doubt I'd make it past six laps on them without something horrible happening, so hopefully a few people try to extend them tonight.

I'm new to the sport mode I generally tend to stay away but I have to ask how is a round structured? Is it 4 races you have to complete in a day or 1 race with 4 opportunities to do it?

I don't want to commit if I know I can't do it.

Nations slot 1: Did not enter

Manufacturers slot 1: Disconnected (40 point race)

Nations slot 2: Disconnected

Manufacturers slot 2:
Connected, Started P9, finished P5 after a very poor opening lap. Very disappointed.

Nations slot 3: Disconnected

Manufacturers slot 3: Disconnected

I like to race in these and am not very happy when I cannot do it (especially given the hours spent practising and figuring out strategy).
