The contact penalties seemed to be on a hair trigger this race for sure. I got three SR reductions for less contact than that, when the guy in front of me swerved all around and caused the contact. It was weird. No time penalties though. The trigger for the contact seemed more sensitive than ever though. I think there are so many long defined 'curve' sections at Fuji that it makes it tougher than usual.

I think if there is contact between two cars, and Car A has any sort of slide or rotation within x time following that contact, then Car B will get a penalty.

Doesn't matter how inconsequential that contact is, or whose fault it is.

Another race, another Q lap blown. Oh well, it was a fun and interesting race, but not for everybody. Some guy was trying to take out all the DNA drivers from what I could gather, he straight up punted one of them in the last corner near the end of the race, it was the guy in the red NSX. Even with a good Q I don’t think the 4C could hang for the entire race, it just gets murdered down the straight. Calling it a night. :)

Right I think that’s how it seems to work, but the flaw in that is the rotating or sliding car tends to be the one that causes the contact in the first place, the guy holding his line gets the SR hit! Same as when people slide from inside out and the guy getting shoved off gets the SR or penalty.

Well, I can forget about scoring any meaningful points this weekend, because it'll probably take that long to get my DR high enough to get back in a 200+ point race. Got knocked down to SR A and lost 1300 DR after being stuck with idiots the entire race. Started 11th and finished 18th. It didn't help that I was also one of the idiots and couldn't stop giving myself shortcut penalties. Got divebombed by a moron in a Scirocco at Turn 3, giving me a 1s penalty, then later on got punted off the track into Turn 1 by a Porsche apparently driven by someone with the reaction time of a Centenarian that's had their license revoked. He claimed I "moved across him" when braking, but there were at least 3 seconds between when I moved in front of him and when I hit the brakes.

On the bright side, I'm guaranteed to be placed with a field of way slower drivers, so maybe I can finally get a win this season with the Gr. 4 Corvette...it's not like I'll get an opportunity like this anytime soon. Not that the points will even matter.

Warning to anyone I'm racing next slot: I'm not the one to try. I try my best to race cleanly, and will take my time to cleanly pass someone who's holding me up, but I've got a bag full of punts and I'm feeling generous towards anyone who wants to race like there aren't any other cars around them.

It seems like it, watching the replays and seeing the bump-draft penalties is ridiculous. I don't think the impacts were any more severe than the bump-drafting that occurred on Sarthe in last week's Manufacturer's race. The penalty system is just a mystery.

So the 19:40 EST slot is a tight fit because of my kid's bedtimes. I thought they were down, but they both started screaming their heads off as qualifying was starting. My wife was upstairs, and soon was requesting assistance. I ran one lap and fortunately made it decent with 40.7 QT. I had to quit out of the qualifying to run upstairs so that my 2 year old could take a dump. No joke. Came back in the middle to make sure I started on RM, and made it back down in the middle of introductions.

I started on the mediums, and didn't die T1, although I did take a penalty after drifting wide on the second corner. I served it and hit L2 T1 in 4th. P2/3/4 broke away from the pack a bit, and then I passed for P3 and then P2. I had intended to 2 stop, but couldn't bring myself to stop after lap 3 or 4. On lap 6, I got bumped wide at T1. Not intentional, and the guy flashed his 4 ways, but he also didn't slow down for me. I accidentally returned the favor at the beginning of lap 7 (my tires were more dead than I thought), and there was lots of traffic with him. I made the decision to just keep going, and I feel a little guilty about it. I apologized after, but the guy seems to have forgotten he did it the lap before.

I hit the pits, and came out in 7th. I made a couple of passes, and everyone else went back in for their second stop for me to move up to P2. I built a decent gap on the softs, and was able to take it easy the last couple laps to coast into 2nd with a 3 second gap to 3rd. P1 was 15 seconds out and had 60k DR last week, lol. Guessing he got reset or something and was working his way back out.

This ties my highest points total for the season, and I'm up to 36k DR.

So my finishes this season now stand at 1, 15, 8, 2, 1, 2. Hard to complain, and I have a decent shot at the S-rating with Jag. If I get it, I'll stay with Jag for sure I think.

P.S. Kids might have cried throughout the race. I'm definitely on the **** list. Might have to take the weekend off, lol

Awesome finish and results with tha Jag. I have been a bit harsh on the cat, but it is definitely a no room for error car. Sucks that my driving hasn't been up to getting it right, but as much as I grumble it has been well over 60 percent my own driving issues and nothing else really keeping me from getting better results. Keep it up carrying the banner for us.👍

Started on pole, had no contact with any other car, and only had 1 track limits penalty for the whole race, but I FELL FROM SR A TO B because some idiot in a McLaren was daydreaming and drove into the back of me twice on our outlaps in qualifying.

19:40 EST Nations Cup Round 8: Blue Moon Bay Speedway Infield A

What a wierd race. It was juist like being part of a train. I qualified 18th being unable to keep up with the slipstream. Not much to say other than I finished 15th with no drama. I gained those 3 spots from driver errors ahead of me. Got the CRB though!

19:40 EST Manufactuers Series: Fuji (Short)

I felt pretty confident in this race. I figured in practice that the softs would last 6-7 laps. So I figured I would try 5M/4S/4S thinking the softs would gain me more time. I qualified in 18th (seems to be my magic number...).
Surprisingly, we all made it through T1 safely. Everyone drove well with out any idiot drivers. Coming to the end of lap 5 I was in 16th and keeping up with the group around me so I decided to change tire strategy and when 8M/5S. By the time I come in to pit on 8 I was in 10th. I come back out 16th.

For 2 laps it was a train of 12th-16th with all of us trading spots but driving clean. My newer softs were no match for those in front of me as their mediums were slower than my softs as well as a couple drivers pitting (using a 2 stop strategy). On lap 12, I start picking them off one by one in all of the corners with my grippier tires. eventually I pull away and bring it home in 10th. And another CRB!

On to the next one!

Nations, Fuji

EMEA

Slot 1:

Highlights (9 minutes):

Over before it began, with all of us from P12 backwards being stuck when the lights went out. desperation to make up the massive gap led to some rough stuff from some drivers. Eventually, I stopped just taking the bumps.

Slot 2:
Disconnected before matchmaking.

The hot sunny weather was too much to ignore after my evening meal, so I got out on the bike for 45 minutes and so the next race I had time to do was...

Slot 6:

Highlights (4 minutes):

Happy to have qualified P5 (Door 10), but very nervous I'd be taken out at Turn 1 as per usual. I gambled on a Soft tyre start. This was all or nothing as being spun out would lose the speed advantage I hoped to have on Softs. I took the corner as tight as I could and awaited the inevitable... and sure enough, it came. But the Austrian Ferrari had already bumped the Honda behind me, so his momentum was too small to have more than a small effect on my handling. I'd made it and retained my position!

However, the Honda and Ferrari both pushed me off track shortly after, but no penalty or loss of position, thankfully. But everyone tripped up over each other behind me as a result! Karma  I now had breathing space to pursue the 4 cars ahead. The P3 Porsche Cayman took too much grass on the left after the non-chicane and speared into the right Armco. Now P4, the race to catch up was on! It was my Nissan against the remaining 3 of the 4 Porsches which had started in front of me, and P2 & P3 had lost ground due to their battle. I had opportunities to dive in front of the Italian P4 but played it clean all the way.

I'd made the Softs last 6 laps by this point but I was in danger of losing ground as they were particularity worn at the front despite having BB set fully to the rear, which normally helps me in the Nissan. Still, I persevered as the Italian was clearly struggling with his grip too, so I decided to try and outlast him. And sure enough, my chance came at the end of Lap 6 when he couldn't keep tight round the penultimate corner. I'd made it through 6 laps on Softs and into P3:D

Now, could I wait long enough to make him pit first so I'd know his strategy and have a lap longer on fresh tyres than him? Yes! He pitted immediately, so I could eke out a 7th lap on the Softs. 👍 Mediums fitted for the remaining 6 laps, I rejoined just ahead of the Italian I'd past the lap before. Both of us on Mediums, I had the upper hand. The British Porsche in P1 was on 2 lap old Softs and the Spanish P2 was on fresh Mediums, and 3 seconds covered us. And that's how it finished - the Italian couldn't quite catch me and I remained P3 for 62 pts and a CRB.

North America

Driving for Porsche, I entered this with some optimism as I'd not only done well in EMEA, but it was 4 Porsches who'd started in front of me.

Slot 1:

Highlights (10 minutes):

Started P11, disappointingly, then got a 2s penalty for the lightest of touches to the car in front halfway round Lap 1.🤬 P9 became P12 after the penalty zone, and then I started to have issues with a GT-R driver who made frequent contact, eventually putting me off at Turn 1 on Lap 4. A sudden lack of traction had me spinning at T1 on Lap 5, dropping me 6 places to P18:banghead:.

I was back past that Nissan on Lap 6 for P14, but interference from him on a Renault which had just left the pits put me back there from P12 on Lap 7. He then braked ridiculously early, forcing me to take avoiding action onto the grass for a 1s penalty, whilst he escape one for cutting the same point! But he'd run wide and picked up 1.5s, so he aimed his car into the side of me seconds later as I retook 13th!!!🤬🤬 Cockpit view shows it was very much deliberate. No further penalty for him, but I was p17 and then P18 after the penalty was served.

I pitted for Softs on Lap 7, from P19. The Nissan couldn't stop me taking P14 at the start of Lap 11. He'd shot his bolt. Crossed the finish line in P14 (promoted to P13) for 42 pts. That Nissan? P17 after promotion.

Slot 2:

Highlights (6 minutes):

Better qually, starting P4 (Door 20). But my second hot lap was spoiled by one 'Wolfie-7913' who won't win many friends with his attitude. In P18, and with a penalty to serve, he blocked me and ruined my lap. When I pointed out that in that situation (with a car currently in P3 behind), he should have moved over, he childishly replied "NO". I'll remember that if the shoe is ever on the other foot, but since he ended qually in P19...

Off the line, I sped to Turn 1 and misjudged the grip of the Mediums I'd started this race on (wanting the Softs for a late charge). Regrettably made contact - though certainly not a divebomb - and found myself in P2. A mistake by the leader's Porsche and I was in P1 in the first 40 seconds. But the GT-R behind me just nudged me enough to put me very slightly over the track limits for a 0.5s penalty. Perhaps Karma had paid me a visit. Serving that dropped me to P4 by Turn 1 on the 2nd lap.

At the same spot on Lap 3, I was challenging for P2, but the BMW made 2 subtle (but cynical?) moves across to me and not only forced me to back out but resulted in a partial spin and down to P6. Cockpit view certainly shows a couple of steering inputs in my direction. Anyway, I passed him for P5 on Lap 5 and was P2 on Lap 7. I'd made my Mediums last 8 laps when I came in for Softs. I exited the pits in P4.

Then a bizarre reset put the P2 Nissan back several metres after it had run (or been slightly nudged) wide on Lap 9, promoting me to P3 again. And that was where I finished, for a season high score once again, this time with 79 pts in the bag, plus the Fastest Lap.:gtpflag:

The Corvette struggle was real in the Fuji race, super easy to drive, but watching a Mustang pull away while in his slip stream is tuff.

...door number 19, qualified 18th and finished 15th. Seems to be a lot of that.
Lots of aggressive passing early, a couple guys intentionally ramming each other, saw a lambo coming for an 86 that hit him and ducked out of the way....interesting.

Well the final slot was of course going to be a waste. Still stuck in SR A, I easily put the car on pole by 0.5s in a field that had a total of 5 Corvettes, the most of any car in the field. That's in stark contrast to the usual race where I'm almost always the only Corvette. Anyway, a divebomber from 3rd place screwed up my line into Turn 1, allowing 2nd place to take the lead. That same divebomber spun me out on the penultimate corner after he decided to use the entire racing line like I wasn't on the outside of the corner. Starting the 2nd lap, another moron in an M4 was shoved wide going into Turn 1 by a Huracan, and as he rejoined the track we had slight side-to-side contact as I negotiated Turn 1 myself. He then turned directly into my left rear, spinning me for the 2nd time in less than 2 laps and dumping me down to 17th of 19. In the end I crossed the line 4th, but finished 3rd after 4 people got tire penalties. The Cayman that divebombed me and then spun me on Lap 1 won the race...

Not that the win mattered to my points total...it was worth 34 points. Now maybe I can have better luck at Maggiore...

Yeah, just reviewed my race at Fuji a couple of times. A lot of crap that got me angry was more aggressive and unwise rather than straight out dirty. There were 2 definitely dirty drivers there though. One was happy to make some pass attempts from up to 0.7 back (the worst one I was privy to), the other is horriffic. Over 1500 races, lifetime average SR of 58!!! Went to check his profile and wow!

For what it is worth I decided to average mine as I often think it doesn't look too flash, came out at average SR of 91. Needs work.

Might skip this week. I was horrible at DTS in Manu, not sure how I'll go even if I choose a better car. And Maggiore is still a total mystery to me.

Try watching a Cayman, which already has better corner speed (and therefore tire wear) out-accelerate you out of the final corner and require the entire main straight before you can even pull alongside it...

Also, one of my PSN friends went faster than me on the practice leaderboards for this race...in an Atenza...
I might just do the next 2 rounds just to get my DR back above 40k, because I doubt the Gr. 4 'Vette will suddenly be competitive at Maggiore (though it should be way better than it was at Fuji), and even the Gr. 3 car will probably get eaten alive at Interlagos with its lack of low-speed corners where its acceleration would be a benefit.

I was going to do this round of Manu just for fun. Then on Monday, I joined the Thrustmaster Quality Club; the brake spring on my T3PA pedals snapped.

As of now, I ordered some springs to see if they are a suitable substitute. I also ordered a mod to use my G29 pedals with my T-GT. Finally, I tried practicing with my G29 and found the brakes way too stiff. I took out the rubber and while my speed was close to the same, my tire wear was bad. My braking was often too much or too little.

A lot of people here seem to have issues with dirty/overly aggressive/oblivious drivers in their Manufacturer races, but I don't have that issue too often, not nearly as much as I do in my Nations races. Nations races are often a filth fest for me. Does anyone seem to see one of the championships being more dirty/aggressive than the other to them like I do?

I haven't noticed it in either championship in particular, just sort of the same luck of the draw as with normal dailies. Some lobbies are good, some are rough and some are utter filth. Had 2 ugly lobbies, 1 in each championship. A couple of rough ones each overall, but those are often hard racing where there is just 1 bad incident to deal with. Like my Manu at Laguna where I was having a pretty solid race (for what I have been doing) and was closing in and looking at a chance to get into a battle for p6, but got speared off at the corkscrew. I think it was dirty tires, but the guy also tried to move over to stop me passing, so who knows for sure. Others are like the Manufacturers at Tokyo where it is simply the combo of 20 cars in a tiny track with a massive braking zone. Chaos. How people deal with it after that makes it clean or dirty. Mostly lots of tapping or bumping while trying to go side by side in iffy places.

I also think a big part is how far up the field you get. Qualifying in the top half seems to help avoid a good chunk of the mid-pack chaos if you don't get punted at the start.

And I usually start near the back.:nervous::yuck::yuck::yuck:

Driving the PUG tonight was suicide. I lost almost 3k DR, but it was really fun. Single lap pace was okay, was able to put it in 9th twice in the top split. Usually gained a few positions in the opening laps but due to tire wear the 2nd pitstop was just a straight up 10s penalty to my total time. Most of the slowness is in the 3rd sector, i could usually hit purple sector one and two times. It would queue up the train and cause chaos before the main straight.

Some guy was trying to take out all the DNA drivers from what I could gather, he straight up punted one of them in the last corner near the end of the race, it was the guy in the red NSX.
I made a pretty strong move against him into turn 1 and he just melted down. I ended up infront of him later in the race and he just sent it relentlessly until i was off track again. Then towards the race he intentionally divebombed Panther in the final corner. Total meltdown.

It's mostly on me for setting the guy off. I should have braked later and got fully along side him. I didn't commit when I saw he started turning in.

From the leaderboards for Maggiore, it looks like it'll be another race for the FF and handling cars. It looks like a no-stop race though, so if the FF cars suffer towards the end, the race should go the way of the Caymans and 4Cs. I really hope I can have an uneventful first slot for once, so I can at least know if my poor finish is due to a lack of pace rather than just bad luck so I won't have to attempt it again...

Skeptical question here, are some players purposely choosing "weak" manufacturers, to secure a high position for that brand? I see some bad drivers that are, at times, quicker than me in Daily and FIA races. They use the same manufacturer/cars for Sport Mode. But dang, man.. real putzes.

I know I didnt. I am slower than you, but being my first attempt at any FIA stuff I was stuck with 2 makes where I thought I was capable at both cars, VW and Jaguar. Always had done ok with the jag so went with it.

Can now say it was not exactly the better choice.
On the plus side I am p11 for them in oceania somehow. Sort of temporarily holding lead in the 'best of the rest' category for them.

I would think some people do. Personally, I only ever use one make regardless of the calendar, Aston, the rest I don't care :)

On another note, usual Fuji for me last night. Put down a nice Q lap in the slipstream, started on pole, punted in the first corner, dead last and finished 16th. Classic!

If anything, he turned in on you there, you had more then enough overlap on him going into that corner. What a DB, there was no need of that at all. Great racing last night man, that was a lot of fun racing with you guys. Sorry that you had to deal with that guy. :)

Well I didn't enjoy my race all all yesterday.

My frustrations started with the SR drops being extremely strict. Daily Race A screwed me into an A SR from giving me drops from SLIGHTLY tapping a car that was going slower than usual in the esses. Tried race C to get my SR up One SR drop in a 10 lap race would overall give me a 1 point drop.

Now I managed to get back to AS for the 3pm race, but I was just shy of 90+ SR. Qualified 6th with a not so great quali lap, once again, I barely miss out on slipstream.

Race start, startrd on mediums. I get squeezed on the apex of turn 1 by a car moving under braking, giving me a 1 second penalty. Was racing this guy in a Lamborghini for the first stint. He was doing my head in by trying stupid lunges and hitting my car. Slowing us both down.

After stopping on lap 7, I came out in a bit of traffic from people who hadn't stopped yet. They decided to start blocking me even though they weren't even in the same net position as me. Final straw was when a car dangerously swerved to block me in turn 5, leading to contact and him going off track.

I had lost a good 5 seconds to the guy in 5th by this time with 4 laps to go. I managed to reel him in on fresher soft tyres and pass him with a lap to go.

Finished P5 with my highest score so far, didn't enjoy the race so didn't want to do another run :P

Now, my wife is telling me she wants a Kona. Right when the RX-Vision arrives tomorrow.
Did a RAce B and funnily enough, I start last in the Genesis. MOved up from 16th to 11th. Really nice to drive. But, we'll see... Might jusy use these for Nations and stay with Mazda until further notice.

Stage 2 announcement
Nations: https://www.gran-turismo.com/world/gtsport/news/00_4424383.html
Manufacturer: https://www.gran-turismo.com/world/gtsport/news/00_5798333.html
Manufacturer Affiliation Contract Update Notice: https://www.gran-turismo.com/world/gtsport/news/00_4864383.html

There are two "Settings:Adjustable" Nations races, 14 and 20(Top 16)

I notice they have doubled the length of qualifying which should be interesting.

They also added this clause (after previously saying there will be no live events)
According to the results of each Stage, players will be selected for participation in World Tour events to be held a later date. For the Manufacturer Series, a total of 12 manufacturers will be selected to participate in a World Tour: in addition to the Official Partners 'Toyota' and 'Mazda', the highest ranked manufacturers in the 'Global Manufacturer Ranking' will also be selected.

There's a lot more variety in Nations I'll give them that. I've yet to work out how those combos will suit me. Good to see little used tracks and cars making an appearance though.

The multipliers in manufacturers look low throughout. Could be a surge in dominance of the FF cars.

10 minute qualifiers is interesting too. That's quite a bit of hotlapping with no fuel consideration. Maybe it will help spread things out a bit.
