I preferred the shorter qualifying tbh but I guess this is their way of maybe trying to stop the slipstream shenanigans but I doubt it'll help that much, it'll just happen twice instead of once now but we'll see I guess.
Also, I'm running out of space to fit things in to my tables with tuning now being added
For those who don't normally do tuning I'm sure there'll be some good people sharing their tunes :gtpflag:

Maybe it's just my pessimism, but the Manu schedule suuuuuuucks. Now I'm contemplating if it's worth changing from Audi, cause those Gr.4 races don't look very appealing in any car. I wish PD would stop with the hard tire only races.

Wait what? There's tuning? Yeah I'm one of those that will need help with that!

Looks to be hardly any strategy at all in someone of the nations rounds.

I think this is super disappointing as I find the amount of variables and race craft needed quite fun compared to the dailies. Gives you a change to get a decent result with a non-meta meme car for once.

I agree, and it's the same in Manufacturers where 4 of the rounds look like no stoppers.

The Nations combos at least are fairly unique but I do prefer races with strategy options. This next stage has a lot of sprint races.

I think it looks pretty great. You have the big track with Spa and the little one at RBR, you have Big Willow with the fast cars (I like that combo, was a fun daily race a couple of months ago.) Alsace with Gr4 seems like it would be a great racing track, as it is for lower power cars, and Brands Hatch in either category makes for a fun race, I think, though I do agree it would be better with a tire wear/change wildcard.

I would think some people do. Personally, I only ever use one make regardless of the calendar, Aston, the rest I don't care :)

On another note, usual Fuji for me last night. Put down a nice Q lap in the slipstream, started on pole, punted in the first corner, dead last and finished 16th. Classic!
Same with me and Chevy. I've given in to running other cars outside of the Manufacturer's Championship, but I always represent Chevy for it. I'm currently 2nd for them in North America, and definitely wasn't expecting all the fast drivers to abandon them.

I also started on pole for 2 of the Fuji races, and also got taken out in one of them. Because I was a DR A driver racing Bs-Ds due to an SR drop from my first Fuji race, I still drove through the field and eventually got 3rd.

Those schedules look absolutely awful so I'll probably only be doing at most 1/3 of these rounds...
I sense carnagewith the F1500. And that's on big, wide St Croix.
This is actually one of the few races I'm looking forward to. I've never finished off the podium with the F1500T, in Daily or FIA races. Never driven St. Croix C before outside of the Circuit Experience though...

I wish they would've chosen Brands Hatch for this race.

I predict yet another Toyota Hybrid Cup race, with lots of curb launching at Turn 6...
I'm looking forward to it.
Wait what? There's tuning? Yeah I'm one of those that will need help with that!
Same here. I've literally never done any tuning in this game. I wish they'd let us tune in the BoP races as well, since you can do that in real life racing with GT racing anyway...

I'd love to tune the understeer out of my Corvettes.

Wait a minute... I just realised that some of these Manufacturer races are well under 20 minutes long. Literally no one complained about longer races but here we are again.

Look at Round 13, it is Gr3 at Willow Springs, which is 15 laps.

To compare, in the exhibition season, we had Gr4 at Willow Springs which was an 18 lap race. So that had more laps, in a slower category, and even then the race time was only 23 minutes 20 seconds.

Personally, I really like the manu schedule but I'm not convinced about the qualy change, I liked the thrill of having to focus at the one shot.

Also, I wish they would stop putting these no stoppers, the strategy factor adds a lot of fun to the races imho.
Normally I'd agree, but my best races in Manufacturers so far were no-stoppers (RBR and Le Mans). I'm not sure if it was the tracks themselves, or the lower tire wear suiting my driving style/car choice though. Maybe they could at least crank the fuel multiplier up though like the upcoming Nations race at DT Seaside.

i dont know why they made longer quali and shorter races . not gonna bother doing 20 min races . bye gt sport hello acc ps4

Driving the PUG tonight was suicide. I lost almost 3k DR, but it was really fun. Single lap pace was okay, was able to put it in 9th twice in the top split. Usually gained a few positions in the opening laps but due to tire wear the 2nd pitstop was just a straight up 10s penalty to my total time. Most of the slowness is in the 3rd sector, i could usually hit purple sector one and two times. It would queue up the train and cause chaos before the main straight.

It was incredibly frustrating to be in the Aston Martin and watch that Peugeot just pull away or catch me like a bat out of hell.

Wait until you do a great qualy lap but luck out with the slipstream lottery, you may change your mind

This is with the old system, but the effect with the new system is much the same.

Lol, yeah on this note I do understand why they did it. It's not even just the slipstream but also the shenanigans. Last time at seaside I was on a purple lap when a "fine" gentleman in a Lamborghini decided to go deep and sideswiped me. I could have done with another try!

I think with the longer sessions, the track will be less crowded as some people will wait, which means less likelihood of accidents and such. The downside is that it will be more difficult to find a drafting partner. Expect to see all the e-sports teams pairing up.

Race 8 - Fuji Speedway
The learning from this race is to commit to the strategy. I was starting on slower tires, and I got frazzled and frustrated as I dropped and got banged around a bit from faster cars. I could have been smoother in the beginning if my mind had committed to being passed.
As you see, the race turned out well in the end. In my commentary I include the reveal of my competitors strategy and it makes it easier to understand the final result.
A lot of passing so this type of strategy makes for fun racing. Enjoy.

Fuji was good to me. Started 16th and pushed hard early on to get in the top 10 for the rest of the race. I was planning to go with RM first but decided to start on RS and glad I did. NSX keeps good cornering momentum on this layout and put it on the podium for 3rd. Lost the 2nd place battle on the last turn but I happy with how everything turned out.

Many at Fuji yesterday in the BMW M4

Attempt 1: Disastrous! - #14 on the door, qualified 10th, and finish 18th. Strategy was 8M/5S. After a good start, someone side swiped me and I got an 1sec penalty, then hit few time until someone dive bombed me and the race was a forgettable mess from that point.

Attempt 2: Much better! #12 on the door, qualified 7th, and finished 6th. Strategy was this time 6S/7M. - I figure that I needed to keep pace with cars in the front because being stuck in mid-pack with Mediums is a bad, bad idea. I kept up well until the pit stop where I got a 3 sec penalty coming out!! (see video 1). Manage to stay in the game. At the very end, this guy or girl, who is a PS friend(!) got a 0.5 sec penalty and then on the final straight tried to ram me against the wall (see video 2). I manage to keep on the grass and cross the finish line ahead. All in all, a great result for a track that I am not a fan.

I’m going to guess you got that penalty by driving over the red on the way into the pits.

and that individual is on my friends list as well...similar kind of experience when I’ve met them in FIA. No idea what their deal is. And no idea why we’re friends lol

It feels like most other games with ranked multiplayer (and seasons/tournaments/etc. within them) have in-game rewards, but it sort of bothers me that GTS' tournaments have this approach where there are only very valuable prizes for very highly-ranked players. I feel like there's less incentive to race because even if you're like, the best in your state, you don't get much other than bragging rights, which may fade away next season anyway. I don't even think the races offer more credits or experience, either. I get that the racing should be fun in itself, but even that can be shaky when I've never really seen the car restrictions really fulfill their potential, like having a Gr.1 race where you can only use the Group C cars.

I get that the GR Supra Cup, on the other hand, has minimal changes to its race schedule compared to last year's iteration, as it's almost like a real-world series that would do the same thing. Maybe the FIAGTC could do something similar, where they could just keep a baseline of races (e.g. the Nations Cup ending with a race using the X2019 Competition, maybe at Spa, Le Sarthe, or Interlagos) and have minimal changes year-after-year, depending on new content. But I'd especially have more interesting car restrictions, and maybe even see if more classes beyond Gr.3 and Gr.4 could be part of the Manufacturers Series, which I think could be fun. Maybe even an N-Series race, who knows? It just gets a bit dull seeing Gr.3 and Gr.4 so much, even if it is consistent.

I think I'll do this Gr.4 race at Maggiore for the Manufacturers Series, next, and see what the next stage looks like when it gets announced. If I think it's boring, I may call it a day. It would be cool, however, if maybe there was a RX-Vision GT3 one-make at Laguna Seca, given that it used to be known as Mazda Raceway. But, given that we're getting one car and no new tracks this time around, I can't say that I expect many surprises in how the next stage is organized. Not that I blame PD, especially given the rumors that the next game could be coming as soon as this year. For as little as we know, the game could even be going gold any week now, with them working on updates/DLC as we speak.

Only 3-5 of the Nations Cup rounds seem like they'll work for me, which is unfortunate because I was hoping to boost my position in it since I've had horrible luck with matchmaking/being punted in the first stage. But, my internship is starting in June so I'll also have a lot less time to practice and play, so maybe this will help limit me. Since I'm planning on sticking with Porsche the Manufacturer's Schedule looks fine to me, it's just courses like Dragon Trail and Saint Croix that I'm unfamiliar with that I'll probably skip for sure due to the aformentioned reduction in free time.

Rounds 18-20 for Nations look like a recipe for chaos though. I wonder how those races will go.

Well, consider me interested. Idk about those last two rounds of the Nations Cup, though.

Gr.1 at Laguna Seca sounds like qualifying will be everything, but the available and required types opens up some strategy options.

The F1500 at St. Croix sounds really interesting. The F1 YouTube channel showed two of Nikki Laudas last races this week so I'm kinda in the mood for that. Grid start too for full F1 authenticity. The only downer for me is tuning is allowed for that one and I don't have a clue, but I'm sure people will be sharing their tunes around here.

Typical B/A // S race lobby, mid, to back of the pack stuff, even if mostly clean.

1) Why can't people respect the concept of the qualifying sessions? I mean at a track like Fuji, you're going to want and need the draft to get a decent time, or you're ruined. Watch this guy in the Ferrari charge through in the final sector on our out-lap, at 10/10 speed, nearly rear-ends me, then proceeds to slot in the carefully managed gap I have in front of me. Given the mess of cars ahead of the smarter car I had gapped, I now have to back off again and I eventually lost the draft chain even before the start line for my hot lap, and at the tail end of the racers, had no chance to catch it or another one again for lap #2.

2) Watch this sequence and tell me what I did to deserve 3x SR reduction, for the contact caused by the swerving guy in the Aston... such a joke. He's swerving all around, blocking on turn exits, at the apex, and right at the front end of braking zones, and I get the SR hit... and also get log jammed behind him for nearly two laps, at a penalty of more than 2 sec from my own pace, ruining my first stint on the softs. And once I do get past him, look at that group ahead... what a mess.

I got THREE SR reductions for this sequence!! How!?!? That guy was a menace.

3) Then, more than a lap after I've passed that Aston, and put a considerable gap on him- he comes from south of Mt Fuji to missile me in T1 just as I was setting up to work on the next group of cars... I suppose he just blew his braking zone, because he does the honorable thing and gives me the spot back after I manage to crawl back onto the track, which I did appreciate, but the damage was done- lost the draft of the pack ahead, and any chance of passing any of the four or so cars that I was probably going to at least have a chance at, over the last stint. Race ruined.

Such is life in the current range of DR drivers that I'm in. It's why I want to work up to a high A rating eventually... it's two steps forward one back every round... I'd like to be able to earn the results that I deserve, based on my race performance, not this lottery crap.

Enjoy the 'racecraft'!
