Final slot at at Big Willow. I qualified 13th. No tow. At least I was right behind my Subaru "teammate" lol.

The race starts and we all get through turns 1 and 2 just fine. Then during the exit of turn 3, I tap the other WRX ever so slightly while we were both accelerating. He spins off. I felt bad for them, and had a feeling he might get me later if I mess up.

Speaking of karma, on lap 2 on the entry of turn 3, me and the 458 in front of me out brake each other so we both go off track. S-O-B. Rookie mistake by me. This drops me to the back of the field, and costs me 17 (!) seconds. On lap 3 while I contemplate if I should change strategy, I get the the left rear on the paint and spin the car out exiting turn 4. More time lost.

Screw it, I'm sticking to the plan. Thankfully, a racer in an RCZ comes out the pits right behind me on lap 4. I notice they have faster entry on some corners, and down the straights after 2 laps, so I turn on my blinkers and let them through so I can draft them to make up time... hopefully. I followed the RCZ till lap 10, when they spun themselves off trying to overtake a Beetle at the entry of turn 9. By this point, I've got myself back up to 9th and I see three cars ahead.

I was able to reach this trio, yet I had to pit for the mediums to meet the requirement. When I exited the pits, I was still in 9th.

After calculating the time lost, I should have finished 6th. Oh well. On to Interlagos! 👍

Didn't end up racing today because life stuff got in the way. I'm not really feeling Nations this weekend because of the tuning part, so I'll be focusing on Manufacturers since I think the Cayman will be ok at Interlagos? I need another high points haul since now all four of my good runs are being used for my points total.

Wasted 6 hours of my life. Could never qualify in the top half, but my strategy of 1 lap on Mediums then the rest of the race on softs worked out well for my first two attempts, climbed about 5-6 positions in each race but not enough to gain any points. I could challenge cars in front of me and pass people, so I knew the car was capable. Second race I was just about 10 points shy of what I needed to gain points, so go again.

Third race I qualified 10th so now I think I can make some moves with the same strategy, throw it away at the last corner and park it. Fourth race and my strategy is working again but in battling with someone I completely miss the brake markers at Turn 1 and throw it off course, recoverable but come home well down the order. Final race, still can't qualify anywhere and throw it off on the final corner yet again. Just an entirely embarrassing effort.

I could run 1:10 lap times all day in practice, can barely break 1:12 during the race without a draft. Nothing more depressing than knowing you have the car to get a good result and doing your best to fumble it in every way possible.

I've raced the driver who finished in front of you, and he's (or however he identifies) pretty quick, so I say not a great DR haul, but a solid result.

Think exactly the same, I'm steering well clear of Nations on Saturday. Shame the Manufacturers is just effectively a sprint race with no strategy but I suppose people need time to work on their* set ups for Nations

Really? Can it happen once the race starts? Because I was just in a daily race, and a guy behind me lost it, wrecked another, and the next thing I know, instead of cruising to a nice points haul, I get a frozen screen and had to abort the game / restart... I wonder if the guys that wrecked out disrupted the whole thing. It was maddening! lost over 1000 DR instead of the 500 I was I line to get, putting me perilously close to the A/B line already!

Other people's connection can affect you in daily races as they're peer-to-peer,but FIA is on a dedicated server so it won't affect you there.

Yeah that was an ugly first lap. 5 cars all going for 1 corner, so sorry if I squeezed you a bit. My race was basically the same as yours with not enough pace to be competitive, so I was 1 and done as well.

No need to apologise; if I remember correctly, you were already well clear by the time I went off. Knew that I would be slower on Mediums so was prepared to let a few through anyway.

Yeah, retried and rage quit because my car spun out on soft tyres on the first lap and lost it some more later in the race. A bad night for me.

At Willow Springs, I think my door number was 19, and I qualified in 18th or so. I was off to a pretty good start with my strategy of no-stopping on Mediums, getting as high as 10th at one point, but I messed up near the end of lap 4 and ended up off-course on that last turn. But I did finish above my qualifying position (even if it was only by like, two positions or so), and while I lost about 500 DR (in spite of placing above my door number), I moved up from being the 7th-best Hyundai driver to being the 6th, so go figure. It turns out that my score for this race was still good enough to replace one of my lower scores that was being counted at this point! I was too tired to try again at 22:20, and I know they'll be plenty more opportunities to get better scores - I'm especially looking forward to the next round at Interlagos.

I also know it's a bit too early to discuss this, but for that Gr.2 race at Fuji that's later, would the Lexus RC-F be alright to use? Meanwhile, while I think the GR Supra will be good for the round at Spa-Francorchamps (wet), I'm not as sure about the ideal Gr.4 and Gr.1 cars for those respective Nations Cup rounds, respectively at Streets of Willow and Laguna Seca. Or maybe we should just wait to discuss those until those rounds get closer...

EDIT: In retrospect, I wonder if I should've done one lap on Mediums and changed to Softs, especially given that the tire wear multiplier was a mere 2x.

Yesterday, my FIA race went beyond my expectation. In qually, I manage to get a decent position for my car. Then in the race, I had to fight tooth and nail to avoid losing the draft because without it, I'd be losing a good amount of time. It wasn't the greatest track for my car, but in moment like these. When you think you're fighting against the odds, you can remeber that anything can happen at any moment.

Last time I raced Gr. 4 at Interlagos, the Corvette was actually pretty good and I managed to start and finish 3rd. Of course that was 1 physics update and 2 BoP changes ago, so this weekend will be a total crapshoot...

I went with 1M, then changed to softs and it worked brilliantly. Qualified 12th and doing it that way got me out of a lot of the fighting and allowed me to really find my zen with the track almost alone. By the 10th lap I was in a peaceful P6. Then on lap 11 on that long sweeping right hander, one of my front tires touched the sand on the inside and you know the rest... Whelp, it was fun while it lasted. lol!

Had a fun(ish) manu race last night. Only had tome for the last two slots. Was suppose to practice the night before but apparently sleep was more important haha.

First race, qualified 10th I think. Bottled it somewhere and fell to 18th. Finished 16th.

2nd race, qualified 1st with a 1:11.083. And then good old cold tired caught me out in turn3. Rear all of a sudden wanted to go through the corner sideways. So spun and dropped back to 19th. Eventually came
Up on a group of like 8 or 9 cars. Felt let I was being help up for a couple laps so pitted early for mediums. Fought my way back up to 6th. Most positions gained from off tracks and people pitting. Should have been a better result but I'm ok with positive dr. Need to get back into A+ lobbies.

t: well actually, our second car got technical issues and was forced to retire

Funny you should say that, because it was a Mustang that finished 2nd in the race I was referring to (but again, there have been physics and BoP changes since then). And while I had a decent race in the Gr. 3 car there a few rounds ago, I didn't really like driving it around that track. I think it was more the track than the car though, because I don't really like Interlagos that much, and I saw a few of the other Corvette drivers score some big points with it.

Just to note, I think I found a glitch in two of my races, and I think this is the first I noticed them. Coming into the pits twice I was immediately behind the car in front, and effectively riding their bumper because of a good run off the last corner. Coming out of the pits both times, that car then had a 5 second penalty.

I think that running into the invisible "pit lane wall" caused the game to mistakenly think the car in front brake checked me and penalized them, despite there being no real affect on my car as we entered pit lane. Obviously I didn't intend for someone to get a penalty, but this is the first I've seen this happen.

Just an updated note. I tried to replicate the bug by doing what you said in a daily C race. There were only 2 cars behind me to start. I pressed the PS button as the roll started, but it just put my car into auto-drive mode and didn't hold anyone up at the start. No one stopped moving. The FIA race start is different, I know, but just reporting what I found.
And since FIA races are on a different server (Just US and Canada instead of North and South America) it wouldn't matter anyway I guess.

I believe you need to press the ps button before warm-up. I think it was @sturk0167 who told me?

Well, last night was rough. I ran all 5 time slots in the chase for more points.

Race 1

Due to my battered SR from Le Mans and Death Chicane Reverse, I was slotted into a room of part DR/SR B/A drivers (plus 1 DR A) and part DR C and D drivers.

I started from 6th on Softs and pushed up to 4th thanks to mistakes from those ahead of me. Then the RX-V nudged into me from behind, and I was given a +1s penalty. Needless to say, I was not impressed and dropped to 5th and had a minor excursion at the final corner after serving my penalty. However, karma came back to bite the RX-V, as it went way off at the final corner a few laps later, getting him out of my way.

I finished 4th on the road, but was promoted to the podium after 2nd failed to use Mediums. It was my 4th best result this season, but the meagre point haul, combined with my next best score being 53, prompted me to take another go at more points.

Race 2

Once I was back in B/S lobby, I quickly found out that I was struggling in qualifying. Whether it was the Alfa being ill-suited for the track or me just sucking at Big Willow, I don't know. I started 15th on Mediums and pitted for Softs and to avoid the mayhem. I was able to get up to 7th, but an ill-timed distraction while exiting Turn 4 (A car going off at Turn 5) sent me off at Turn 5 and out of the top 10. Another wipeout at the exit of Turn 3 ended any chance of getting back into the top 10, and I finished a dismal 14th.

Race 3

Again, I started from the back, and went wide at Turn 1 on the opening lap. The lack of incidents the entire race meant that I made little progress up the field, and I finished 13th.

Race 4

I was making good progress on the opening lap, having pushed up to 12th. Then this happened:



I really don't know what the Porsche behind me was thinking, considering that this was still lap 1 and there was clearly traffic directly ahead of me. Why he didn't expect me to brake earlier, I don't know. He was being oblivious at best and downright malicious at worst. However, the number of incidents and rage quits allowed me to make a good recovery drive. Towards the end of the race, I was able to overtake him down the main straight without incident, so I chalked the lap 1 incident up to obliviousness. I finished 11th, but I was obviously dissatisfied with my result thanks to Captain Oblivious in his Porsche.

Race 5

Oh look, a familiar face qualified just ahead of me. I made sure to 'politely' remind him to drive a clean race before the race start.

My race was mostly uneventful, except for this incident:



I think it's pretty obvious who really deserved the penalty here, but he took himself out of the race with this stunt, so he got what he deserved.

I was able to get up to 8th by the final lap, but I lost 1 place making a mistake at the exit of Turn 3. My mistake was bad, but I was certainly better off than the poor sap that wiped out on the last corner on the last lap in the last Asia time slot. If only I could have seen his reaction.

Finally, a decent points finish.

I'll be focusing on Nations this weekend, since the Alfa is still trapped in Gr. 4.5 hell. My best time in Nations Time Trial is 2:23.177 but I usually clock a 2:24. I think I've got a tune that I like, so I have to try and improve on my consistency.

Race 13 - Race Edit - 13 Minutes

My first attempt as you can see in @CurbHog video. Things were going okay starting at 3rd but later on made a mistake of cutting the curb on the last corner sending me to the outside in the dirt then spinning down the straightaway. Later on following him, he loses control in front of me and I was too close to avoid him clean and we made contact and spun out. No biggie just a racing incident and ended the race at 10th.

My second attempt went better qualified 8th but worked my way up as some drivers pitted in the early part of the race. Spent the second half of the race in 4th and ended in 3rd place at the finish as the driver ahead got a penalty for pitted too late to change tires. Got back to driver rating A.
