Well, today was ok. Race 1 was abysmal, starting from 16th and getting hit with a 3 second penalty amidst the lap 1 mayhem on top a 0.5 penalty for me being an idiot by cutting into the pit lane on the start/finish straight. A spin out while exiting the final corner halfway through the race and 2 separate punts off the track ended any chance of doing well, and I came home in 14th.

Race 2 was much better, as I was able to survive the opening lap mayhem with 'only' a 1 second penalty after someone made an optimistic dive past me in Turn 2 before losing control on exit, sending me into his rear bumper. This time around, I was able to keep it mostly on the road with only a few minor excursions and having to save the car at Corkscrew exit. The one-stop (12H-12M+fuel) worked well and I finished 6th, but was promoted to 5th after 3rd place forgot about the tyres. I managed to beat my previous 5th best points by a whopping 1 point. Yay.

Me defending 9th place on lap 3:

Fun fact: The character on my Toyota is voiced by a person named Moe Toyota. Yes, that is actually her name, and no, she isn't related to the company at all. The livery maker knew exactly what he/she was doing when they made this.

Just done the first slot at Nations and it was bit of a disappointment. Door 19 and qualified 5th although I could have done better had someone on their out lap not ruined my last flying lap. At the start of the race I went wide at turn 3 due to cold tyres and then got rammed off at turn 5 by someone glitching all over the place and so I went down to last place. I ran 2 stops as I couldn't afford to lose any more time and worked my way back up to 9th place. I got 109 points and an increase of 300 DR but considering where I started it could have been so much better. I think I'll go again at the next slot. A guy who binned himself tried to blame me for his mistake which was pretty funny. I watched the replay and it was definitely his own fault.

Adventures in off-meta on my second account continue!

Admittedly it's only a D-lobby but my main account is a mid-ranking C at best so I suppose it's not exactly pubstomping. Quite unlike the guy in first who nearly lapped the whole field.

So I qualified 8th after a scrappy session - could have done better but a low 1.15 was all I could manage. At the rolling start, 6th (a Turk) was caught napping at his controller and me and 7th had to do a quick spin by him. Carnage into the third corner series meant I was up to 5th and simply putting the pressure on those who'd started on Softs (I started on hards). Often I didn't defend places very much and let people go by if they were much faster and picked up places in the pitstops and if they went off track.

Pitted lap 16 with just a bit of short shifting to make the fuel last, and half a tank went in for the run to the end. Came out of the pits in fifth and stayed there until the end save for a couple of changes here and there.

However we did get two ahead of us smacked with the 1m penalties for simply running two soft stints. Guy in 1st got away with it which reminded me of RBR in the pre-season where simply sucking up the penalty and running softs and qualifying laps endlessly was good enough. Not quite good enough for Czech Republic and Switzerland though, but what a race. Now on my main account and tryharding... doubt I'm going to have as much fun!

NATIONS

Qualifying went surprisingly well for me as my first lap put me in provisional pole and eventually started in 2nd. Was also in the same race as @SlowDriver87

Due to my in expected starting position I started on the soft tyres, hoping to gap the pack behind who would be inevitably fighting amongst each other (Thanks to @Mistah_MCA for the strategies BTW, really helpful). The race itself was a quiet affair as I was left alone the whole race pitting on laps 12 and 23 for medium and hard tyres respectively.

Came home to finish 2nd and with my best nations points hall this season. Toyota was a really strong race car as always and managed to short shift enough to not need any fuel at my stops.

Based on my practice last night, I'm tempted to do a 3-stop race because I couldn't really get the Softs or Mediums to last more than 8 laps before their performance fell off to the point where the next hardest compound was faster. The delay between when you enter the pits and when your car actually gets to the box seems a lot shorter, but it's still around 11s. I feel like my pace on fresh Softs is enough to overcome this gap, but it's close...

Might have to skip the Manufacturers Series round on Wednesday - there’s lightning forecast. I’ll see how the weather is around the time I’d plan to race but I’m not too optimistic. At least Saturday’s weather seems like it’ll be better.

Sooooo... screwed up in my 1st race dropped from 5th to 14th because of a few crashes...

Practiced for a while after the race and joined the 2nd and my last race. Qualified in p10 (only made a lap in my 3rd attempt lol)

Started with the hard and pit right after the 1st lap. Just drive at my own pace and wait for others to make mistakes (which they did lol). Finished in p5 eventually.

Lap times were super stable (med ~1:11 and soft ~1:10) and i was satisfied with the result hahaha. Consistency is key on this track. Just drive a bit more conservative and pit earlier if you aren’t start in the front. Just let them fight lol

Drink beer with me! 3rd place for 124pts! First slot Q6, got chances for 3rd, but spanish guy has different opinion, rest of race complete chaos, which I make too, to be honest:indiff: forget about it.... 2nd slot Q6 again, started on Med for 12 laps, then softs and fuel for 11 laps and one on hards... It was good strategy in this race, gained 3 positions in the pits... Happy man I am:lol:

Two attempts at Nations today. First attempt qualified 16th with @VulcanSpirit right behind me. Do the "mediums for as long as possible and hards for the rest strategy". It was going okay until Vulcan spooked me going into the corkscrew resulting in me throwing it into the gravel

As apologetic as you were Vulcan, it was my own mistake. I could have easily held my line and made the corner. There was no contact. You 100% didn't do anything wrong.

Then on the final corner I hit the sausage and nearly spin costing me two positions. So start and finish 16th.

2nd attempt qualify 15th with a 1:09.4 That's not a bad time for me but I'm way off the pace for this level. Same strategy and finish 11th. I was kinda dived into on the last corner mid race that also gave me a 1 second penalty. The person who did it not only backed off to give me the position back but backed off as I served the penalty too. I appreciated that. Good sportsmanship does exist.

I made one small mistake so a top 10 was on the cards but it's a tough race to not make any mistakes in. Leaving it now and looking forward to the F1500 race on Saturday 👍

Well done mate!

I tried again on the 4:20pm slot. Door number 7 and qualified 6th but got disconnected right before the green light. So annoying.

I went again at the 5:40pm slot, I was door number 19 again and qualified 5th. Got knocked about to hell on the first lap and ended up 10th but then I got back up to 5th, before making a couple of small mistakes. I'd just come out of the pit late in to 9th place for the final lap on hards and someone went for a ridiculous overtake and put me in the sand, knocking me down to 12th. Taking the incidents out of the equation I could have got about 140 points but I got 88 in the end. I should have just left it after the first race with 112 points.

I think I might just leave it there now. If I have another bad race I'll end up putting the DS4 through my TV. I've got the pace but I'm nowhere near aggressive enough for these races. I just get bullied. This has been the worst FIA event so far for rammers, all supposedly SR 99 rated lobbies.

Quali was a disaster. I ended up 15th as my last hope of a decent time was dashed as I came across a cruising Audi at the exit of Rainey.

I opted for Hards for the start and had a close call as it scrambled for grip, and I kept it on the black stuff long enough to make it round for my first stop for Mediums at the end of the opening lap. My strategy was disrupted on lap 6 as I caught up with a Brit and German squabbling over 14th in the second half of the lap, culminating with the German spinning the Brit out at Rainey...right into my path, earning me some damage and a 1s penalty. At least there was some karma as the offending car missed his braking point for the final corner, and he rage quit.

I kept the Mediums on until lap 14, and switched to the Softs for the final sprint to the end, and my fuel-saving negated the need to take on a final splash & dash. In the end, I climbed back to P8, claiming my 3rd haul of 122pts this season. I think that's a pretty decent rehearsal.

Croissant C coming up:lol:
Another round where I got pace for good results, really cant wait saturday.
Also happy that this round went good, beacause I just got some electricity problems, lights out, and place where my wheel is plugged just exploded:lol: I dont know how this part is called in english... Luckily ps4 and wheel somehow didnt brake:eek:

I was glad for starting at the front, Laguna Seca feels a bit to small for these Group 1/LMP1 cars personally. Group 3 feels right there.

I knew at some point that my strong run in Nations Gr.1 events would come to an end, but I wanted to give Laguna Seca at least one shot as I found it rather fun to drive around in the TS050.

15:00 Nations
Grouped with @watto79, @T_revisio and 'wifi password' in a lobby worth 282 points. Whole grid consisted of 18 TS050s and 2 '16 R18s.

Main objective in qualifying was to set a hot lap without bottling it, which I achieved first time out with a 1:09.748. Second lap: 7 tenths up, but binned after clipping the sausage kerb at Rainey Curve. Third lap: overshot the Corkscrew. Fourth lap: lost two seconds in the second sector. The Audi in front binned it out of Turn 3 and rejoined in the middle of the track; this forced me to take a tight line and hop over the sausage at Turn 4, costing any chance of building up the 1.6 tenths I had built up at that point. Another frustrating start down in 17th; pole was a 1:08.055 which, judging by test lobby pace, was out of the question for me anyway.

Did what I'd normally do if I start at the back; get rid of Hards early. Already there are problems at the Andretti Hairpin, as a Portuguese Toyota spins after taking a trip to the sandpit. Got lightly nudged by a French TS050 under braking for the Corkscrew, but that would be the least of my worries as I took on Mediums. Let the Frenchman go as he was on Softs, and passed the Portuguese driver again as he bounced over the Corkscrew gravel. The second stint was a lonely and error-prone one. Lost a place after misjudging the Corkscrew again, made contact with an Italian Audi as I tried to line up a pass on the inside of Turn 5. The Audi clearly had issues with maintaining boost - as it usually does - and eventually had to concede 18th after picking up a 0.5 second penalty.

Passed a German runner who seemed to have beached it at Turn 11, pressured a Dutch KFC car and almost came together with him down the straight. Almost lost it over the kerbs coming out of Turn 6, but snatched 13th from the KFC car when I finally came into pit road again on Lap 12. Softs, 70% fuel and high-revs for the final half. The KFC Toyota kept making mistakes, so up to 15th we went. Set a 1:09.918 just as Watto and a Russian entrant emerge out of the pits on Mediums. Got a run on Watto up Rahal with six laps to go, and thought that I would have enough momentum to dive up the inside of the Corkscrew. However, Watto had already covered the line going in, so I was forced to back out and crawl across the kerb... while he lost it on the exit. Yes, I was afraid that that move had probably spooked you into going wide, but I'm glad there was no contact between us.

So, if you couldn't probably tell, this was turning out to be yet another difficult Nations run. To add injury over injury, after pitting for new Softs on Lap 20 I proceed to launch over the Turn 6 sausage and overshoot the Corkscrew - again! :banghead: As I recovered, I noticed that the leading Frenchman was already getting close to lapping us within the closing stages. So, still feeling mad with how things had gone at my end, I decided it wasn't worth worth the trouble holding him up and pulled over on the start-finish straight. Only thing is, he went on to pit the very next lap!

Despite the setback - and the red mist - I did enough to catch back up to Watto and the Dutch KFC car coming into the final lap. Exiting turn 1, the timer pops up as a sign the leader has already crossed the line. "TIME REMAINING: 00:58." If we weren't going to make the cut-off, now's the chance to pass the KFC car once more. Got a great run on him coming out of Turn 5, but backed out as I couldn't risk another collision. "TIME REMAINING: 00:30." The KFC car gets sketchy coming out of the Corkscrew; I take the inside of Rainey, but am forced to ride two wheels over the sausage as he closes in. Twelve, eleven, ten. Watto clips the Turn 11 sausage and slides. Six seconds, five. Are we going to make it? By sheer luck - and thanks to the KFC car's tentative exit - I get on the gas and scream past through the middle! 14th is mine - "FINISH!" I crossed the line with just eight-tenths to spare, with the KFC car and Watto not too far behind.

Realistically, what else could I have expected? Like Watto, I felt like I wasn't anywhere near the pace of the front-runners, but the TS050 ran as well as ever and was more than able to get away with a couple of flat-out stints. The 'Moses effect' was something I didn't expect coming out of the final corner, and was probably the best part of the race by a long shot. But overall, despite being my best-ever FIA finish at Laguna Seca, the 15:00 was just as problematic and frustrating as almost every other Nations meeting I've had this year. Thought about joining the 19:00 at the last second, but got timed out while in the process of entering. Ready to call it a day as I'm not up for competing in the later slots.

GT Planet, place where you improve your driving and polish your english:lol:
Thank you, now I know how its called... If you can also tell my why? Weather is bit windy and there may be some storms near my region, can this be the reason?

Possibly a power surge? Either way, it did it’s intended job and saved your electronics that were plugged into it. 👍

From what you are saying, sounds like a power outage as others have said. As to why.... when there are storms, there could be lightning that hit a nearby electrical pole that increase current in the electrical system. Or since you mentioned a power outage, sometimes when power goes out, and then comes back on, there is a surge as well.

Seems you had to right tools to protect against this, which is nice!

Did this earlier :D got rid of the hard tyres lap 1 and to my surprise was a few seconds out front come the start of the last lap when the leaders pitted.

Only restarted racing in FIA on round 15 so this win gives me my 5th score and puts me top 10 in EMEA. I thought I'd might have to rely on the top 16, but didn't really want to considering it's open setup ... :yuck:

Adams on Fire, you are all petrified because Adams on fire :P

Once again quali came down to one final lap to set things straight, thanks to a combination of my own offs and unfortunate encounters. I had my gaze fixed on the bottom half of the screen to avoid looking at the splits, but it was to no avail, and entering the final sector I knew I was 0.3s up on my previous time which had put me 15th. I hung on through the final 2 corners to set a time good enough for 9th, but I had a gap of a quarter of a second to the car ahead, resulting in an anxious minute waiting for everyone else to finish. Thankfully, no-one toppled me, and I stayed 9th on the grid.

I opted for softs at the start this time around, I dread to think of how my first lap would have went if I chose hards/mediums instead given the chaos that was about to unfold. The polesitting Romanian ran wide at the hairpin, leaving a space for the 2nd-placed Swiss to dive through and run away, eventually ending up 8 seconds clear before he pitted. I got tapped wide but gained overall as an Austrian and a Brit took a trip through the kitty litter. I managed to keep my nose clean, and by the end of the lap I had already made it up to P4.

4th became 3rd on lap 4 as that driver fluffed the braking zone for T3 and put his outer wheels in the gravel at the exit, letting me out-accelerate him on the short burst to T4. The next few laps were spent catching 2nd place while also trying to keep my fuel consumption in check with short shifting and a bit of lift and coast. I only started making inroads on P3 on L9, right when I decided to switch to mediums. This lap would prove pivotal, as the runaway leader also pitted this lap...but unlike me, he needed fuel, having already burned through more than half of his load. He emerged into a 4-way scrap, and that proved his undoing. The then-2nd-placed Russian spun at the exit of T5, right into the path of the former leader. The pack breezes by along the Rahal straight, and I eventually pass him at the exit of the final corner.

The polesitter was next, and he made the next lap as awkward as possible as I was sandwiched between him and the Swiss driver. He had one crucial weakness though: he brakes too early for T5. After spending L11 and a bit of L12 huffing his virtual fumes, I made a break for it under braking for T5, leaving him to fend off his old friend from the front row. A Russian driver ahead pitted at the end of lap 12, leaving me to chase down a German for the lead. I spent L13 sniffing fumes again, and it all came down to one last drag race out of the final corner. Maybe it was because I started braking earlier for that corner, but somehow his KERS runs out before mine, and I'm able to slip by around the outside as we started L14.

From then on, it was just a matter of managing the fuel. The original runaway leader ended up needing to pit again on L21, and I made one last switch to hards for the final lap. I kept it together and ended up about 10 secs clear as I crossed the line to claim 178pts!

How in the world, in a lobby of all A or S drivers, with #18, do you lose DR when finishing a clean 12th place?! That one has me scratching my head.

But: the Laguna Seca Race was fun. Didn’t do great, knew I wouldn’t though as I didn’t have the outright pace to get near front. But had much of the track to myself after throwing away the Hards after Lap 1, and running a two stop for the required M’s after a stint on softs. With a fastest lap that was among the slowest in the field, and a clean race without any contact or odds, I think that’s just about as good as I could have done in that lobby. Oh, and I ran out of gas at the line, leaving me less than a second off of “timed” finish as I coasted to the line as the 60 second timer ran out. I was hoping for a few more people to have done a single lap at the end on the hards. But it was a fun race! Much less nonsense than I anticipated and the car was easy to drive… when I saw that schedule I figured it was going to be a disaster. But I enjoyed it.
