Question for you guys: is there any difference between FP conditions and Qualy other than tyre wear?

I was doing easy 51.5s in FP with a PB at .3 but in a lobby before the race (with fuel OFF) and in qualy I was going a few tenths slower (51.6s and above doing 1 lap, pit and repeat), the car was behaving so differently, that was confusing as I never noticed such a difference since the last update affecting Qualy...

I'm with Honda btw.

Thanks!

Yes there is a difference but I'm not sure exactly what it is! In FP I was down to a 51.2, my best lobby time with fuel off was actually in my qualy for the race at 51.499. The car always feels a little sharper in FP to me, maybe there's SOME fuel as opposed to no fuel

I don't understand why the SLS got nerfed. The extra weight has made the car terrible under braking. Tonight's race was about suffering through the slots until everyone got good points and left, then sweeping whatever crumbs were left in the last 2 slots.

Annoyingly as bad a fit as this combo was for my car I was the 20th/20 driver in the top splits in the first two slots!! Nailed a PB qualifying 51.7 and 51.6 for 18th and 18th place (including a disconnect).

Really surprising how overpowered PD made the FF cars in a tire/fuel saving race.

The Merc was nerfed simply because I picked it and we were heading to a couple of tracks I'm decent around! Notably Spa! So I hereby apologise to everyone who is using it!

Nah, I said at the time I didn't think the SLS warranted the extra weight being added and I still don't see why it was done. It's not as if it was the META car anywhere (from what I'd seen)

In FP theres no tyre wear, tyres are "perfect" all the time... In Q tyre wear is on, so they are cold etc etc

It sucks that there's no N-class race where you can choose to drive whatever the hell you want. I enjoy taking part in those in totally obscure cars. Could've added those instead of having even more Gr.3 and Gr.4 races. We already have ten of those in the Manufacturer Series and then there's another five in the Nations Cup, meaning only five races out of 20 are in different types of cars. And even among those only three of them are in actual road cars. What a shame.

edit: Also, qualifying is going to be completely pointless on SSRX.
My guess is that they fear the meme videos. A F150 fighting with the Ferraris doesn't look great on the official website.

Well this is going to be a long one.....

Nations Cup Round 18 - Willow Springs Streets of Willow

Already knew I wasn't going to do this...

Manufacturers Series Round 18 - Fuji International Speedway

I enter with 13 on the door and qualify 15th. The start of the race is glitched as 10-20 all stop as auto drive starts. 10th disappears (disconnected?) and once we get going again, the race actually starts and we are already separated from 1-9. Believe it or not, there really was not much happening in this race. I was in the pack of 10-13 and we all kept swapping places cleanly. The best part about this race is we did it from laps 3-16. That was quite enjoyable but unfortunately, on the last turn on the last lap, I skid a little and lose 11th and end up 13th.

Nations Cup Round 19 - WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

I was not sure if I would run this race. I knew I was looking forward to Gr.1 but every practice section I had was awful. I was way off pace and was having trouble keeping it on track. I decided to do it anyway. I could not pass up the chance of running the Gr.1 cars.

I am glad I did....I take my trusty Toyota TS050 to the track with 15 on the door. I qualify 7th after somehow getting into a groove here. I start on softs I am 5th by the corkscrew on lap 1. 4th goes off on the first right hander on lap 2 and by the corkscrew, I am in 3rd. P1 and P2 are slowing me down as they both have poor connections and are teleporting everywhere. Its hard to go fast when you don't know where they actually are. So I just try to keep my distance.

I eventually grab P2 on lap 5 right past the penalty zone. I try to increase my pace as P1 has built a little lead. I take P1 on the end of lap 7 when the leader grabs some dirt on the final turn. For the whole lap it seemed like he was not taking into account worn tires and kept using his same brake points and it bit him there.

I pull into the pits on the end of lap 9 still P1. I pull out in P5 on mediums. I am back to P3 by lap 12. I take P2 as P2 pits on lap 13. I m reeling in P1 and he pits on 14. I figure I have this in the bag. I am driving very consistently and just wonder how long I can make the mediums last. I had originally planned a 3 stopper but it was going so well that I abandoned that idea. I lead from laps 15-22. I pit to take on hards and come back out P2. I hold that spot until the end. I was very pleased as I was unsure how I would do going into this. P1 1 stopped and won by 5.5 seconds. It is also my best total of the season!

Manufacture Series Round 19 - Red Bull Ring Short Track

You know its a sign when you feel bad with 3 on the door. I didn't practice much for this race so I was not sure what I was in for. I qualify 19th but the whole field was within 1.5 secs from 1-20. There was not a lot of excitement but I did have some great close racing with a fellow SLS and we went back and forth the whole race. We raced clean and close and it was a pleasure to race him. We would trade taking the inside or outside of turn but stay side by side with minimal contact. It was great.

The race...not so much. That was my only excitement here but I did manage to finish 14th so it wasn't all bad.

See you out on the track!

PD adds a announce about Nations Round 27 on SSX.
[IMPORTANT]
Please note that in Round 27, to match the track's unique characteristics, entrants will have to select a car from the predefined N800 Class in order to participate. Entrants will be unable to adjust the settings for these vehicles or participate using Garage cars. Thank you for your understanding.

*EDIT
Oh, Sorry. Maybe there was no announce on SSX when I saw the article at yesterday evening.

Is anyone gonna share the top tune for the F1500 for Saturday’s race? Or are we all gonna have to skip it because there’s no chance of keeping up. You top guys won’t get any meaningful points if everyone else doesn’t show up to fill your rooms up, it’s not like we will keep up even if we do have it.

Was wondering when someone would be generous enough to share a tune! I really wish I could race it! Did some practice last night, even though I won't make it to the race Saturday. Only ran about 10-12 laps... I don't think I could get under 2:55 or so with the standard tune, but I didn't play with changes yet.

Can you run a unique setup for both the Q and Race sessions? I'd want to run a different one for each...

The cars are challenging to drive, that's for sure. A gentle throttle pedal to manage the turbo lag trying to kill you in the slow sections is essential, and big changes in throttle in the high speed turns can upset the car. Would be a blast to race with good people.

EDIT: I feel like an idiot... after seeing @mohitraina91 post below, I realize that 'tuning' includes the easy upgrades to HP and weight?! So I should have at least done that before running my practice laps... it must be worth 5-10 sec alone, just to get the benefits of that by spending the Mileage points on those upgrades! The 'tuning' is just icing on the cake.

@Pigems posted this in your GTS tuning thread you created.

I used the legendary Gran Turismo tuner @praiano63's tune below.

I'm not a "top guy" but this was good enough for 2:42.1 to put me 9th overall last night. Drives great and should be good enough till someone comes out with an event specific tune.

Thanks man! I am using @praiano63 ’s suspension as well currently, I had to change the gearbox to suit the track though, and I did tweak the suspension slightly after some laps too. This is where I’m currently at. :)

But, I know the top couple guys have a tune they don’t want to share too, which is probably miles better than what we have. There’s still an awful big gap in the top 10 times, even for how long the track is.

Well, yesterday was a total disaster. Neither of my races went well despite the no-stop. The first race had me on track for a decent 11th place, only for the horde to descend upon me in the final two corners and I fell down to 15th in the ensuring chaos with a track penalty. Race 2 wasn't much better, as I was swiftly overtaken by the one-stoppers and finished a distant 13th, 3 seconds off 12th. Defending feels completely pointless when everyone can just mug you down the straight with superior power and slipstream while keeping up on the straights is completely out of the question for the Alfa, let alone overtaking. I'll take my chances with the Nurburgring roulette this weekend, but Manufacturer Gr.4 races are clearly a time and DR sink for me at this point.

I made no changes since I'm a dummy when it comes to tuning (changed BB to 1). Always just make things worse for myself :banghead:.

My optimal is in the high 2:40s actually with this tune alone. But this car is so hard to drive with a DS4 I keep messing up.

I'm hoping our lord and saviour @Mistah_MCA can come to our rescue once again. I used the tune he provided for the Fugu Z at Tokyo, worked like a charm.

This is the tune he gave me, and the one he used in his guide. He’s not allowed to share the PX7 tune for whatever reason, they won’t let him. :guilty:

Oh no :(.

Guess since its Top 16 superstars weekend people want to keep their cards close to their chest. To be fair that's their right, must have a good tune as well looking at the leaderboards.

Call to all top drivers across all regions to donate their tune to help out poor innocent C rated drivers like me to get a sub 2:40 on this track. Your support is needed in these trying times.

It’s not like we will keep up with them, even with the tune. I’ve been digging since Tuesday, if I come up with anything, I’ll post it for sure. 👍

:odd: I'm A rated and don't see much to improve so far to even get in the forties on my optimum never mind on one lap.

Even without tuning I think the gaps have always been pretty massive when using the F1500T. If my memory is correct, the last time we had these in an FIA race was at Nurb GP, and I believe I was a full 6s slower than the top time. In the actual race, with everyone at least DR A, I was a couple seconds slower than pole and still qualified 4th! I ended up with an easy 3rd place.

Oh I know, it’s more just a matter of principle for me. I don’t wanna win because I have an advantage on the guy behind me, there’s no sport in that. Nor do I want to enter a race where there is Zero chance of a good finish. I just don’t see the point in holding back info from people, the Aliens are gonna win regardless of what info the rest of us have, so why not just share it?

I was joking on the C-rated part lol, that whole sentence was tongue-in-cheek. Yeah my optimum is currently 2:40.8. I think the most important thing to get times down is to understand what gear to use in what corner (watch a top lap). This car delivers old school turbo power, so gear selection is important to manage torque. If you break traction, you lose loads of time (even if it doesn't feel like it).

I got Q17/P14 last night at Red Bull Ring Short, so that's not bad. I even came real close to getting P13, right up until the last couple corners. But I wonder why I keep qualifying towards the rear? Is it because of the lobbies I usually end up in (which may include notably more skilled drivers), because I signed with Hyundai (even after the buffs), or perhaps both?

I think there should be more N-Series events with that limitation. In fact, I'd say it's the way it should've been in the first place.

There's huge gaps in the leaderboards even among the top 10 times. EMEA top 10 is covered by 4.2 seconds. That's MASSIVE. I guess the top aliens want the advantage over each other rather than us, which I can understand. I agree with you though and is why I don't like tuning races. I don't want to lose to someone because they had a better tune than I did. I can still imagine that the "best" tune will be found and publicised before Saturday, and then everyone just uses that anyway.

Actually just seen that Beauvois has done a 37.0, which is 1 second faster than the 2nd place time. This combo is crazy.

While I love this car, and I think I've got a good tune for it (that I made at DT Seaside so I could more easily and quickly judge laptime differences over a much shorter lap than Sainte Croix), I'm not looking forward to trying to learn this entire track and master it in just 2 days...

If any of you see me in this race, this is what I'll be driving:
6197533706727490561_23.jpg

Edit: wow I might not even have time to practice the Manufacturer's Race if I do this. Is it going to be like the last time we did this combo where you either have to save fuel for 2 laps or pit on every single lap?

I think the tyres could be a bigger problem than the car for Nations on Saturday. The hards are basically worthless and the mediums aren't much better. Any corner where you're going up to 150mph and flat becomes an adventure if you're not on softs, or even when the softs are worn. I thinking 3/4/3 for a pit strategy, I'm just hoping I'm going to avoid sliding into a wall on every lap.

You wont get more than 4 laps from the Softs, it’s gonna be interesting strategy wise. Might even be worth using TCS1 for the race to save some rear tire life. :)
