Okay, maybe car choice isn't completely irrelevant. The Huayra is so slow, it can't even make it to the front of the pack  Still finished an okay 9th thanks to people unable to go side by side through the corners. Remember to always fall back before the end of the straight so that you don't get caught up in the carnage.

edit:

Did PD switch penalties off? The entire top 14 (I.e. the guys who didn't crash) from my 16:20 race all finished with SR gains.

Yes they did. Bump drafting is a feasible option now 👍

Second attempt, 12th to 8th behind @Famine in 5th. Much as I'd love a win in the R34, 7th gear in the 458 seems to be a warp drive, so it's back to meta for attempt three.

Condolences to... the guy whose GTPlanet name I can't remember who hit the pit wall.
That was a rather mad race - but actually largely well behaved.

I saw a German guy try to force his car into a place it didn't belong leaving the first turn on lap two, and a Spanish and an Italian guy try to take each other out several times (I think successfully at the end), but the only deaths I saw were accidental contact in the banked turns when people forgot long straights = cold tyres = understeer.

Qualifying is the world's most irrelevant thing here - it literally only exists for incidents to happen so that people can race with a grudge, and I went 2s faster in the race.

And yes, there's no penalties as far as I can make out. Even for actual murder.

Sorry for the dumb question, I didn't check the thread beforehand. Just as well as I managed to ride the slipstream trains from 19th to 7th. My PS4 agreed it was enough action for today when I DC'd from the subsequent Race C lobby. :o

tbf the South African guy starting last in the NSX fell out of slipstream, so it's not completely useless.

Still nice to see people struggle in the corners though. Nobody has any spatial awareness.

It seems I've got the black screen where I can still move in the menus and still technically drive the car, but I can't see it. Am I going to get kicked out at the start of the race?

Go to top left main menu screen, then exit and return to the track. It should clear up. Has happened to me before.

I think all cars have 7 gears

Is it safe to bump draft in this race or were there penalties handed out?

Radar is a must, especially in close battles. Helped me avoid dive bomb incidents countless times.

Well I haven't been able to play for a while and took some time off to practice on the wheel too. Last time I did FIA I won top split for the first time. I brought out the pad once more for SSRX and... won top split again?

First ever win in Nations altogether :gtpflag:

Anyone using the follow cam instead of cockpit, bumper, and/or bonnet cams? Given that the lines are wide and smooth, that viewpoint in conjunction with the radar might provide the best situational awareness.

That’s actually not a bad idea, thanks!

Congratulations man!! Great race!!

Today sucked. I kept running into trouble in every race and ended the night pointless and 2k DR down.

The first incident is a prime example for lack of awareness and the main reason why you don't go with the pack. Unless you're appraoching the final corner of the race it's irrelevant whether you're leading or trailing one second behind. Just follow everyone closely, wait for the field to thin out and then you can start your attack towards the end of the race.

Admittedly, I was not aware that bump drafting was tolerated in the first couple of races, so Incident 1 was completely on me. I only realised the bump draft was (mostly) safe towards the end of the second race when I bump drafted another car, having given up on the race already.
