I don't know if it was just my imagination or not but I felt like the ghosting was turned way up on this track (B/S lobby). People disappeared almost as soon as they touched grass, I wasn't worried at all passing people who went off.

Other times it feels like they never ghost until they're reset.

As far as that incident goes it wasn't your fault, but it's one of those times where backing off might save you your race. He should've been on your radar there, and losing one position (however unfairly) is better than throwing the race away. Sucks that people gain by driving roughly, but you won't fix that by throwing your race away.

The problem with that track is... I already let two guys by as you suggest, by backing off (discretion is the bettor part of valor yadayada)... the train just thinks it's their birthright after the first one, and before you know it, you're nearly last... so you've got to make a stand at some point or you may as well not race. And yeah, he hit the curb. He also hit me on the prior turn, from behind, which I though would have lent me a little bit of a break, instead it should have signaled his intention to get by at any cost. The combination of Gr4 and this track is simply stupid.

Against better judgement, and on the cusp of losing my A rating, I re-ran it, ended up 13th after again qualifying 9th... made my own mistake going wide just a bit on the last fast sweeper and dropped a wheel. When you do that in the Cayman, you're toast, it rotates so fast you can't catch it. I should have ended up 10th if I didn't screw up, and the race was otherwise very clean. Maintained, albeit just barely, my A DR.

EDIT: it's also discouraging when a guy bumps you from behind, sending you ahead of him, and then even without the benefit of the draft, has more than enough HP advantage that he can get his nose inside you before the next apex... the Porsche is so compromised this season it stinks. No chance to defend at a place like Goodwood if that's the case.

Also, if you notice in the replay, the NSX teleports a bit due to network lag... I had no indication he was inside of me, and given that he bump drafted me on the prior turn exit, was not expecting he could get the run inside of me in such a short span. So yeah, it was a racing incident, and yeah, I might have defending the inside harder (as I did the next race to good effect) but if I don't think he could get there, and don't know that he has, I don't defend. That was exactly the case. Then he hits the inside curb and it launched him into my door... race over.

My second attempt at this, I was in a lobby with @KosmoKazi again. This race was also a disaster.

Third attempt, I was in a mixed A/B DR room, and I qualified 12th. I finished in 10th. I could have had 9th but I messed up on the chicane on the final lap. Got 89 points. Wish I didn't bother with this race at all honestly. And I'm not really optimistic about the Audi e-tron race at a track like Fuji (I can already see people not braking early enough at turn 1), but we'll see what happens.

But my DR is now at the lowest its ever been since I got to A rank. I did a Race C afterwards and while I got a decent result in that, it only added 100 points.

Turns out my 120 points from Fuji didn’t count. (Long story :ouch:)

So I’m gonna put some last minute practice in for today’s race and see what happens. Any score I get will be better than zero.

okay, i'm curious; what do you mean with that the 120 points did not coint? were they not given for some reason? :confused:

Because I went again after that attempt and ended up in a lobby that was worth ~50 points for 1st. (My SR was still S but it has to be 90+ to get the maximum points for your DR level) I said screw it and left the lobby, so my score became zero for quitting, even though the race didn’t actually start yet. I just didn’t have enough patience for it anymore at the time.
 
Slot 2: In a lobby with a bunch of really fast people. PX7Grove, OutlawQuadrant, and others. My door number coming in was 17. Heck, crg88x was ranked behind me and usually he kicks my tail, so I definitely had to put my big boy pants on in this one.

Luckily, I was in the Scirocco, so I did have an advantage there...and I'd need every bit of it. I qualified with a 1:15.303, which I thought was pretty good. NOT, lol. Started p14 and slowly crawled up to p10. But, it wouldn't hold. Unfortunately, I followed a Cayman into the grass and lost quite of bit of time. While my finish wasn't amazing (p12), I had a good clean race with 4 guys. We swapped positions quite a few times but were pretty respectful of space. No one wanted to be in the grass, thats for sure.

 
Managed to fluke into 2 slipstreams on my quali lap which put me way higher on the grid than I had any right being. The race itself was pretty dull but honestly was just happy to bring it home without any major mistakes for a score that matched what I got at Fuji at the weekend

Might be the last race I play in a while. Sick of the BS online. Go ahead, tell me how it was my own fault. There's always someone here who is glad to help explain these things. But I don't give a 🤬, I'm sick of getting pushed around here with no consequences. It's not a fair fight.

Similar experiences last night.

I had the exact same thing happen in my first race. I had to avoid someone who had spun and was still building speed which let the guy behind me get a better run at T1 than I did, he pulled even, a little bit of contact, I went into the grass, took another poor soul out as a result of not ghosting. I was put into that position for the same reason you mention -- you can't let one person by because the next is going to throw it up the inside too.

My second race -- someone had an inch of overlap heading around the corner into the chicane. I left them space on the inside (first mistake, I suppose) so they sent me off into the grass rather than returning the gesture. Then, on the next lap, the exact same thing happened.

It feels like unless I'm willing to race like an bellend (thanks max), I won't be able to find success in these higher lobbies. I'm willing to own some of it...I gained like 5000 DR prior to FIA this week at St. Croix. I qualified 6th in both races, but everyone is good so the gaps were super small throughout my races. I need to be better there, too. I'm feeling the same frustration though.
 
Goodwood in the Lexus last night:

Slot 1 - Qualified 16th, ugh, and then was disconnected. That hasn't happened in a LONG time so can't really complain, but it was already late so I had to stay up and run the next slot at midnight...

Slot 2 - DR loss for the disconnect was about 1,000 so I was in a slightly "easier" lobby and I qualified......17th haha :lol:. I just couldn't put together 3 good sectors in qualifying so this was all on me. In the race I managed to claw my way up to an 11th place finish. A lot of single-file racing throughout. The chicane was really tricky and I was very inconsistent there.

I only ventured into the grass once over 15 laps so I'll take that as a positive 👍

I noticed that. If I ran close to someone and if he ran wide, I’d go right with him. Happened a few times, including at least one driver side smacking of the chicane barrier.

Exactly how I binned it when I dropped a wheel at Woodcote on my second slightly more successful run... even though the other guy was quite a ways ahead... just didn't hold the brakes long enough and went four inches wide on the left side curb. Round I went.

It was also a factor that I had installed the new brake force sensor on my G29 (AXC Sim Truebrake)... very hard to re-calibrate the braking force required in moderate or harder braking zones... but I think once I adjust to it that it will really help... the precision on the release and the linear overlap with the throttle in that final trail braking zone is like the difference in SD and High-def... just hard to re-calibrate the braking force when there are no g-forces to gage! you don't realize it after you've adapted the first time, but when they equation is changed it's almost worst because you aren't just learning, you're erasing what you already know at the same time.

Kind of an easy race this time. Goodwood is not a circuit that I am used to driving or even being fast around, but 4WD adds some security. Qualified to almost a Top 5, door number 11. Pretty much battled a Jaguar and GT-R all race, deltas fluctuating between us. Had to deal with disorientating ghosted cars as well. An almost podium is all I could muster, but a fun race nonetheless!
 
Race 6 - Goodwood - 5 minute Race Edit
I have never raced this track but did a lot of practice. Its a nice drive, and my goal was to be consistent and disciplined and get into top 10.
Quali had me starting in 14th with 0.7 to the leader.
Great fun chasing @bassaddition (had some fun with that name), as well as a fellow McLaren dressed in blue.

Bassaddition was supposed to be Bassaddiction but I had one too many adult beverages before signing up at PSN. :D I am an audio guy with an 'addiction' (according to my wife) to large subwoofers and powerful bass. At least I got it right here at GTP...

I am sure I will see you again on the track!

Anyone else shifting the E-Tron even though you cant shift. I keep hitting the paddles. This car is going to mess my brain up.

I've solely been driving the Formula E car in PC3 (lone reason I bought that game), so the lack of engine rev and shifting hasn't been too big of a hinderance. But even that car took a bit of getting used to. But in that first corner, I want and try to shift down another gear to just get that boat to rotate.

That E-Tron handles quite interestingly.... I find that it likes to just understeer, until you get to low-speeds, where, when trail-braking, it then decides it wants to rotate. But with all of the torque at hand, you either need to be very gentle with the throttle exiting a corner to avoid understeering into the Shadow Realm, or line it up so you straight-line it and mash the throttle at exit. And then it can get up to Gr. 3 car speeds, but has road-car brakes. I'm still down to try a race with it, but with things piling up this week, I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to or not.

That name is just a reason to keep buying more audio equipment then to add more bass.

Believe it or not, it actually has DTM brakes. It's just much heavier and much faster than a DTM car.

It's also supposed to be sending twice as much power to the rear as the front, and have lateral torque vectoring on the rear wheels, so it should be feeling much more nimble that it is. That part definitely doesn't make sense.

New guy here, send your insults this way!

Was going to do a report on my Goodwood race as my debut post but.......it was......disappointing (Q3, Finish 12th :rolleyes:)

Have had some decent practice with the E-Tron so I'm looking forward to tomorrow's race.
Only problem is Fuji, I have a habit of cocking up the first lap of a race there quite dramatically.
Always too eager on the throttle out of the first corner, cold tyres can't take it!

Anyone have any views on the strat as yet?

If you haven't used it already, I've heard you get one free name change... which you could use to correct yours!

I like @CurbHog's videos as well.. typically Scandinavian in straight to the point, no frills, efficient and clear! He always seems to note the same things you're thinking as you watch the videos, which makes them feel familiar and conversational. And he's always pretty positive.
 
Don't suppose anyone happens to have any tips for driving the E-Tron? I'm really struggling for consistency with this thing. Seems like one lap I can brake at a specific point and hit the apex nicely, but then on the next lap I'll brake at the same point and the car will take absolutely forever to stop. :confused:

I figure there's going to be some speed variance depending on how good my exit from the previous corner is, but this is so much more than I would have expected. Getting around the start of sector 3 is horrible!
