That looks really good, much prefer that design over the Model Y. Not sold on the Mustang name yet, but time will tell.

It's not a bad looking SUV for what it is, though it doesn't give me the "Mustang" vibe quite. Really, if there was no pony on the front; I would just think it was a new Edge or something.

It doesn't look bad but why even call it a Mustang?
At least add some Mustang style to body and give it a more sporty look. This is like if Chevy called the new Blazer a Camaro.

No. Just NO!

Nissan tried this with the Skyline.

Ford have done it, but it really shouldn't be a "Mustang" The same way the 911 design is in the Cayenne, Macan and even Panamera, those aren't named 911.
Should have named it "Pinto".:sly:

The car can listen and observes to make suggestions. It can answer conversational requests

There's one physical knob at the bottom. Adapts to who's driving the car and learn your habits. You can use a key or your phone to log in. Built in 4G LTE so it'll always be connected. The GPS can add charging stations to the GPS route. The cloud assistant can understand complex speech and requests. "Ok Ford" is a keyword you can use to activate the voice assistant. There'll be over the air system updates.

The Ford app can be used as a key. You can set a GPS, temperature, etc. It'll sense you walk up to the car.

300 miles EPA estimated range (RWD)

Home charging station included. DC fast charging charges 47 miles in 10 minutes. 12,500 public charging stations in North America. Ionity has 400 fast charging stations in the EU. OTA updates, including "hands free driving" in the future.

0 - 60 mph under 4 seconds.

As fast as a Portofino to 60 mph.

A Mustang Mach-e GT? Once again, I think it looks good as far as crossovers go, but it really doesn't look like a Mustang to me. Though I don't think it would ever feel to me as a Mustang being a CUV and all.

With that said, I do kinda like it outside of the badge Ford decided to give it.

Bits of info from the press release

Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition brings the thrills Mustang is famous for, targeting 0-60 mph in the mid-3-second range and an estimated 342 kW (459 horsepower) and 830 Nm (612 lb.-ft.) of torque

Mustang Mach-E instills confidence, targeting an EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles with the available extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, offering built-in charging solutions that route customers to nearby public charging stations, recommending where to charge on trips, and providing access to over 12,500 public charge stations in the FordPass charging network

In extended-range all-wheel-drive configurations, Mach-E is targeting 332 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. of torque – with the standard all-wheel-drive variation targeting quicker times to 60 mph than the base Porsche Macan series.

The GT is targeting 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds, making it faster off the line than a Porsche Macan Turbo. The GT Performance Edition, meanwhile, is targeting a comparable 0-60 mph in the mid-3-second range to a Porsche 911 GTS.3 Both GT configurations are targeting an estimated 342 kW (459 horsepower) and 830 Nm (612 lb.-ft.) of torque.

a new Mach-E 4 all-wheel drive system will be available that can apply torque independently to the front and rear axles to deliver impressive acceleration and improved handling over the rear-wheel drive model.

Making its debut in the Mach-E is the next-generation SYNC® communications and entertainment system, a sleek and modern interface that uses machine learning to quickly learn drivers’ preferences, and gets even better over time thanks to advanced over-the-air updates. Next-generation SYNC’s 15.5-inch screen and simple interface ditches complicated menus

In addition to the exterior front trunk, the rear trunk offers 29 cubic feet of space. With the rear seats down, the Mach-E boasts 59.6 cubic feet of space

Mustang Mach-E will be available in both standard-range (75.7 kWh lithium-ion battery) and extended-range (98.8 kWh battery). These advanced batteries feature 288 lithium-ion cells in the standard-range version and 376 lithium-ion cells in the extended-range. Designed for ease of manufacturing, the battery is located on the floor between the vehicle’s two axles – and tested at temperatures as extreme as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The batteries are secured inside a waterproof battery case surrounded by crash-absorption protection. They are liquid-cooled to optimize performance in extreme weather and to improve charging times.

Ford offers a Ford Connected Charging station that can add an estimated average range of 32 miles per charging hour on a 240V outlet, based on extended-range, rear-wheel-drive configuration. The Ford mobile charger, included with the vehicle, can add an estimated average range of 22 miles per charging hour on a 240V outlet,

With peak charging rate of 150 kW, the Mustang Mach-E with an extended battery and rear-wheel drive can add an estimated average of 47 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes while charging on a DC fast charging station. The standard-range Mustang Mach-E is estimated to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 38 minutes while charging on a DC fast charging station.

1964 1/2 all over again.

Way back when, the Probe was thought to replace the Mustang. Now, a car that may challenge Mustang sales, IS a Mustang. Seems like a smart move by Ford.

At this rate every car will be an SUV in the future with sub genres of SUV like Muscle, sports etc.

Once that happens, I'll be walking.

Well, Ford has already got rid of all their sedans and hatchbacks in America. They've created the Edge ST, Explorer ST, and now the Mustang Mach-E, so....

Top Gear and Edmunds got to make some short preview videos. Apparently the entertainment UI system is coded in HTML 5

Eletrek has a short on board video of it doing a slalom and a short acceleration test

Interesting Autocar article on how and why the Mach-E took on the Mustang name. The same article also mentions the possibility of the nameplate being applied to more models in the future.

Still not sold on the name (just Mach-E would have sufficed), but I have to say it looks a lot better than in the spy shots. I find the two-tone effects on the roof and rear spoiler especially clever in that they genuinely emphasise the fastback shape from the side and front three-quarter views.

The front grill looks like a baboon's arse.

I wish electric car exterior stylists would sit down with the board and explain to them that why we no longer need radiator grills.

Single image is all that's needed to show how out of place the naming choice was.

They should've just called it the Ford Mach-E. It's their first all-electric vehicle offered. It would've garnered more than enough press and buzz on that alone. Bringing the Mustang name into the fray just muddies the waters and dilutes the brand that name has.

These will sell like hot cakes. I’m calling it now, I think this crossover will out sell IC Mustang in its first full release year of 2021.

A lot of people have been waiting for a good looking, fast, decent range, high tech, affordable EV for a while now. Add the pony to the front and a lot of people who wouldn’t consider a Hyundai or Nissan EV will take it for a test drive.

This might be the car which manages to transform the average “enthusiasts” opinion on electric cars.
