i went to a gaming store in Adelaide today, saw f1 06, i was going to buy it until i saw the price:scared: $99:censored: way to much for me:(

Think I'll have to crank it up to hard...annoying I can't even get close to the times set by AI cars on hard and yet on medium I can lap the entire field in the Renault and finish 5th in the Super Aguri...oi vay...

I swear I have a problem with my disc because medium never was that easy before I took a break from it

edit - Ok...*breaks out a new controller*

Seriously guys...how the hell do any of you beat the game on hard?? I can't get *close* to the times set on hard and I know every track and racing line off by heart...medium is too easy and easy...well it's not even worth thinking about.

Should I give up and just sell the game? Seems like hard is the real experience, but I don't feel like bursting more blood vessels to beat it like those licenses on GT4

If you get into the car setups it’s pretty simple to be at least in the top 5 at any circuit.

EASY!?

Come on man you gotta crank up to hard for the best racing experiance in the game..

Mocking me is the end of your line :grumpy: :sly:

I was using the wheel, but that makes my back ache more than a Jack Russesl on Viagra in a Australian women only gym.

I'll use the Pad from now on and start on Medium!

But could easy mean I have no choice over Pit strategies?

Or do you only get that in the Gp season rather than career?

Gone to normal difficulty in Super Agguri (Still qualified 9th) and it was fine. Although crashing at the first corner was a rather annoying end! The AI is difficult to predict at Bahrain especially at the corner before the middle sector long straight where you gain a second on them.

do you think it's worth $99 AUD?, 05 wasn't, but i had good fun with the eye toy creator:lol:

I don't know what the Aus Dollar is worth compared to the Pound, it's about 3AU$ to the £?

Anyway...

I think it's a good game, bits that annoy me is if you are behind another car coming to a slow corner, you normally are quicker on the brakes and quicker in general, so can lose some bodywork through it.

Ok having looked at rates... it's about 2.5 Aus Dollars per pound, so it's about £30-£35, I'd go for it, might find it cheaper on the net. Althouh would have to be a Aus gaming company or mail rates wouldn't make it worth it. It's a good game, better than 05.

2nd Race at Sepang. (Super Agguri if you're interested)

Sucked in first Practice as it was wet and just couldn't get off the back row, Saturday practice got to 8th, in Qualifying I got to 11th. Started the race well up to 4th, nearly got taken out by Ralf clipping me at the first corner of the 2nd sector but I held it together, that was after Alonso overtook me, kept it there for the 28 laps including pit Stops.

Finished 38 seconds behind 1st place Kimi, lost alot of it on the straights, but gained most of it back due to the AI being slower at certain corners.

Old thread, yes. But I (finally) picked up F1 06 a few days ago, and am have some issues with the game.

My copy's in Japanese, so readability is a bit...nonexistant. Could someone translate (read: type in from the English version) the menu options for the career screen? All the menus are in (really tiny) English except for the career menu o_O

And for some reason my Driving Force wheel doesn't seem to work with the game. Is it just me? I thought you just plug it in and go but that's going nowhere fast. Which is kind of like me right now - took an hour to drive vaguely half-decent with a DS2 and just when I got the hung of it Ralf broke a bit early...

I'm very good at turning my cars into trikes :D

Started playing this again as my PS2 came alive again.

Racing at Imola in Career made in my Super Agurri. Qualified 12th, struggled to get the car really going in any of the practice and qualifying sessions.

The race went fairly well, though I struggled at the first corner for grip and spin a couple of times and had a 6 second delay thing once. Gained lots of time at the hairpin (you can gain about a second there!), though it proved my undoing as on lap 26 (of 31, 50% race distance) I hit Webber (taking him out, and losing my nose cone and front wing), I had a chance of getting a point maybe two. Annoying.

I have a question.

When I came in to replace the nose (I had to due to the black and orange dot flag) it also replaced all the tyres, is there anyway of deciding what to change on a pit-stop?

Okay another question.....

I'm around half way in the season, just won at Montreal in a Super Agurri from 10th on the grid. If on the screen before resuming my career I change it from medium to hard will the difficulty change work or is it for only new careers?

That time trial thread caused me to regain interest in the game so I started a new career. Hard difficulty, 10% race distance.

I went for the Super Aguri trial and beat the time over a single lap at Magny-Cours by about 2 seconds and was offered the second driver role.

At Bahrain I got into the to top 10 in qualifying, but whenever race distance is scaled so much the third session is pretty difficult because it’s bloody hard to have a competitive lap with 30 laps of fuel on-board so I just left it at 10th. At the end of the first lap I was in 2nd, and by the end of the 2nd lap I was first. I was pretty comfortably in the lead after the stops and won by 3.5s over MSC.

When we got to Malaysia I put the car on 12th position on the grid. Webber got pole followed by Rosberg. I moved up to 3rd by the first corner, and followed Rosberg for the rest of the lap. On the exit of the last corner I got a good exit and passed him. I spent the next two laps following Mark, but he was pulling away. The pit stops came on lap 3 and I made up a second in pit-entry by being rather aggressive. Had a swift pit-stop at 7.4s and managed to move ahead of Webber. Alonso pitted the next lap and came out in second, but was behind me. I won the race by 1.5s.

Now I want a real team to offer me a job. I’d like to have a car with, you know, power.

:D

I started a new career on hard mode (as above post didn't work), I just got the Test driver job at Super Agurri (I thought getting that was good, not sure how you were 2 secs quicker than me!). Never got the hang of Magny Cours though.

Anyway, I was test driver and I ended up doing enough to get 2nd driver spot (racing with Ide). I've just done Canada and USA, my 3rd and 4th races.

In Canada, I did alright qualified 17th, but struggled in the first bit to the first corner, as I always do, because the AI seems to stop for no apparent reason, anyway, I pitted and was a long way behind 21st but knew I didn't have to pit, it went alright but I had 2 15 sec penalties as I missed the last chicane twice and ended up being penalised. I got through to the penultimate lap, but I spun out of the penultimate chicane before the hairpin and lost my rear wing and had to retire, although I did well as I kept ahead of the BMWs as they were coming up to lap me.

In America I qualified 18th, I had a good race, everything went to plan, no severe crashes (had a knock when I was letting someone lap me!), I finished 17th out of 19, ahead of Ide and Monteiro. I just got 184 down the straight!

Next on to Magny Cours which I think will be last my race with Super Agguri as I got a contract at Midland, although not a massive step up it's a better car.

In my first season i got a job with Midland and got 2nd in australia and Monaco and frequently scored a lot of points, then i got a job with toyota and won a few races, then with Honda and then in the 2nd last race (Japan) i did badly and schmacer won and was wining the championship by 10 points over me. I thought i had it lost because there was only Brazil left. But the thursday before the race i was given a job with ferrari, which i had forgot about signing a few weeks before. I got schmacers car and won the race. I then won the championship because i won more races than he did, 96 points each. It was an amazing experience!

Since then i won 16 out of 18 races with ferrari in the next season and i'am now with reno wining everything in season 3. Is there really any reason to go any futher.

Just finished 10th at Hungary in my Midland, my best finish in my first season on hard. I qualified 15th (iirc) and got a great start and got up to 6th at turn one, I gradually was overtaken by the quicker McLaren, Ferrari and Barrichello. I was dead chuffed though to keep Trulli at bay. Turkey is next!

sounds like a very interesting game..💡 anyone with the psp version of the game??? i just bought it and want to know if it is as good as the ps2 version.....👍

Turkey and Monza went fairly well but I was excellent at Shanghai (just done it), came 11th and beat both BMWs. Had to pit 6 laps early after a collision left my left front a little loose and I couldn't get good grip around the quick corners so I lost about 3 seconds there. Just signed a new contract at Midland till the end of S2. I suck on the Ability tests though, I can seemingly only get within 8 tenths of the test driver.

---

Damn, Suzuka is hard, I couldn't get the hairpin right at all, I finished 15th (it was last, there were a few retirements) but I was 40 seconds behind 14th man Sato. I spun off 3 times and had 3 penalties totalling 29 seconds! I qualified 21st, but got up to 16th off the start, then I spun it on the 4th lap at the hairpin. Just Brazil left, might struggle here due to the car having no power.

I'm dancing \o/

Just came 3rd at Bahrain in my Midland, thanks to the huge ground you can make up on that left hander which goes into a tight left hander in Sector 2 before the big straight.

I spun twice too, didn't lose huge ground mind. Lost about 4 places first time and about 5 seconds (no places) second time.

I'm looking for a drive in a more powerful car at some point.

cba to search around, but anyone know why there is no 07 game?

Incidentally, Hungarian GP and I've just moved to Ferrari from Renault. Weird having wingmirrors on the sidepod. lol

EAs license to produce the F1 series ran out at the end of last season iirc, there are no plans for any new games. It's stupid tbh, we probably have just about the biggest demaned now after the season we've had.

Anyway onto my story...

Came 14th in Malaysia, did okay but nothing special. 17th in Australia beating my team mate and two Agurris. At Imola I was doing really well (8th) then I had to pit, it started raining well before I got to the pits and I was sent out on Slicks again, I did one lap, on my 2nd lap after the stop I kept spinning and lost my rear wing and retired (forced). I have accepted a new job as Test driver at Toyota, yay!

Done two tests, a downforce test at Catalunya, I hate that place, too fast for my liking. I ended up being about a second a lap down. Then I was 1.4 behind Trulli in a test at Silverstone. I'm about to do a Camber test at Monaco, I've put in practice and I can do a 1:13 regularly, I need a 1:14.6 3 times in a row to pass. I need to practice on each circuit on Time Trial before each test to have any chance.

----

I took over as RBR test driver after more abysmal testing for Toyota where I didn't pass any tests. (I Couldn't control the car with negative camber at Monaco). My first test at RBR? I beat, by over a second, a tyre compound test at magny Cours.

---

Another 2 test wins, camber test at Hockenheim, a track I normally don't get on with. Then a Team Ability test at Magny Cours, I beat Klien by over a second. I think I've found my footing. Fuel test at Budapest next.

Can someone please post in here? I feel like a madman.

Just got a job as Ferrari 2nd driver for my 3rd season :sly:

Yeh, them too....

EA's licensing of the F1 ran out end of 2002. Sony have had it up until recently, current rumours circulating suggest EA or Bizarre Creations have the license. The EA sports rumour seeming stronger currently after Lewis Hamilton recently signed a deal with EA to appear on the cover of a new game..

Won my first race at Bahrain, got pole, won by 55 seconds. That track is too easy, can do a 31"7 when the rest struggle to do 34s. It's that corner before the straight behind the pit straight.

I know the other tracks will be harder, looking forward to Monaco, not race there yet.
