@Hyland, It's acceptable. Like the best Fast and the furious movie you could think off ;)
Of course a little cheesy, but which racing game with a "story" on top wasn't?
If you focus on the racing and a little collecting and cruising it doesn't bother, because the story is only in the cut scenes.
In free roam, the Horizon event gives a great athmosphere :D
Okey, that's good to hear.

👍
For those that argued until they were blue in the face about the map not being 63 sq miles, they are incorrect. It is indeed only very close to 63 sq miles. To top that off, you can unlock EVERY road in the game within 2-3 hours. I had 2 friends in my party last night that were just cruising around and within 1 hour my friend had half the roads unlocked. Another hour later, 90%. Half an hour after that 99%. The map is very very tiny. About 1/3 the size of Burnout Paradise. Which is fine because I knew it would be small. But some people were in denial about how small the map is. I will post more about this in the map size thread.
I wasn't expecting a map of the size of Oahu but that's kind of dissapointing. But noone seems to care from what I can see so that's a good sign.

I have to agree with Camaroboy, the map is a lot smaller then any TDU or Burnout.
But it's also so much more diverse and detailed that it keeps being great to drive, even the 100th time.
As they always say, size doesn't matter ;)

The map is not the biggest, but it has not bothered me one bit. I was always one for photomodes so I delve into that right away. It was a bit hard at first with the constant day/night cycle, you are constantly having to change your settings.. Makes me wish that you can save certain settings so that way you can jump in and get to where you want easily.

In my first 5 hours of the game, I had only finished 3 races.. those 3 added together took up a total of around 10-15 minutes. Second day of owning the game, and I'm barely into my second wristband, which is under, about, 1000 xp lol.

don't forget to post these pics over on FP's newfangled Forza Horizon Photomode thread :p

I got the LCE one day early here in the UK- I ordered from game. Was I meant to get a Dodge Challenger for F4, or do I get that on release day?

Got the red ring of death last night.
Argh, just when I picked up the LCE :/
Mainboard is out and in the oven *fingers crossed*

I agree with the comments about the map size, while it is small, Horizon is still enjoyable. If you are on the fence, I would at least suggest renting it for sure. I am having a lot of fun with it. 👍

I don't mind the smaller map, it makes driving between races easier. TDU, while cool, took a long time to drive between races at times.

I am pretty disappointed with the amount of cars available in the game though. It's on par with GT5 in terms of cars (premiums, not those meaningless standard cars). There are still some good ones though, I'm rather enjoy driving the Focus ST with the Team Dynamic Pro Race wheels since it looks very close to my own car.

The map is a fine size in my eyes: big enough to explore, small enough that it seems like we can start remembering it. There are parts of San Andreas I still don't know!

Strange thing: I got all 216 roads yesterday, but am still missing two speed traps. Speaking of: wish those were organized by class, since they'll just end up littered with Veyrons, SSC's, and Hennesseys.

I don't even know where to start with this game. It's excellent and worth more than the $80 I spent on it. The demo doesn't do it any justice. The full game is a totally different experience, in my opinion. After playing numerous racing games that have free roam such as NFS Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, Hot Pursuit, the Midnight Club series, Tokyo Xtreme Racer series, and Burnout Paradise, I'd say this game blows them all out of the water. Best free roam racing game I've played.

There's just so much to do, and I haven't even played online yet. And even if I'm not doing anything, I feel I can just spend a lot of time cruising around Colorado just for fun in different cars and challenging the many racers roaming the streets if I feel like it. Horizon feels great enough with my Fanatec to do this. Looking forward for the rally expansion in December to make an already great game even better. I'm already content with the map size. There's a lot to explore and I don't see myself getting tired of visiting the same areas.

I'm also really happy to say that I found all 100 discount signs last night, with some help from the treasure map after I found most of them on my own. I can spend hours just customizing my cars and optimizing them for each class since I now have free upgrades.

I do have two complaints though:

1) The map icons are way too small. It was pretty hard for me to find the locations of some of the discount signs. But this may be because I'm playing on a standard definition TV.

2) No ability to jump to the main hub where the dealership, garage, paint shop, etc. are located. It's fun driving from point A to point B, but when I just want to get into another car, I don't always feel driving all the way back to the hub in the middle of the map just to do that. This can be annoying when I'm at the edge of the map somewhere.

I think there was a third thing that bothered me, but I can't remember it right now.

I can talk about this game all day, but I'll stop here. In closing, I don't see myself dropping this game until FM5, but even then, I most likely will still be playing it since it is a different experience. I hope enough people buy this game for PG and T10 to decide to make a sequel. Maybe it can take place in a different state besides Colorado, or heck, maybe even outside the United States.

You can fast travel to the main hub for free. I believe you select the destination and then hit X.

Can't believe I missed that. Thanks. 👍

How about they set it in Polyphony Digital's headquarters!

I have a belief they'll set it there, at Tokyo Japan for Forza Horizon 2 if it sells well. They really deserve the credit and money, because they did an absolute good job with Forza Horizon, and I will really love to see a sequel of this fantastic game. :)

Love this game, but I don't know why they missed out cars like the modern golf. It can't take long to implement them, as they already have models of similar graphics.

The Golf R is a pre order car, which I so happen to have a code I'm willing to swap ;)

Oops, I forgot. They still scrapped a lot of cars, though. Guess we will have tons of DLC. should get my SLS code today :)

So i got mine from gamestation this morning..been playing it since half 10..only just switched it off!

..i think its a great game, very enjoyable..already got 6 barn finds, up to 193 popularity and got 33% upgrade discount..will probably play again on monday:tup:

Really enjoying it so far, more than I expected to be honest. Only rented it for now but I will definitely be buying it after playing the full game. It just goes to show that you can't judge a game off a demo.

Hit #1 in popularity last night, three days after the game's release. I don't see why anyone would purchase the skill boosts as anyone that has played the game by now knows you burn through the popularity ranks fast, it is entirely possible to pass through two or even three ranks if you have a high enough multiplier. I think the popularity rank "gimmick" would last longer if the amount of points required to advance to the next rank would gradually increase with each successive rank, instead each rank is worth the same amount of points which is why the aforementioned skipping of ranks is possible if you have a high enough score.

If you're a Forza veteran, you'll also probably notice the game's single player career is much shorter than those from the main series of games, I'm already on my gold wristband (the final career tier in the game) and this is me playing on hard and re-doing races again if I don't finish first, which on hard is likely (and I can only imagine how insane would be like). To be fair, the short career mode may have been intentional on the dev's part, but I'm not a fan of the "six-hour single player" the gaming industry has fallen into. In terms of total races, I believe there are 70 Festival races, 30 street races (cash only, does not advance career), 10 Showdowns (special races that usually involve racing aircraft), and 7 "boss" races. Most of them you can finish in the 3-5 minute range, some of the longer ones might take you closer to 10 to complete. The career mode's length seems more on par with certain NFS games, Most Wanted, Carbon, and Undercover come to mind as those had careers you could finish in a few days or a week if you took your time. I guess what I'm saying is not to get your expectations up if you're expecting a typical Forza or Gran Turismo length career mode.

Now, I love FM4. I really do.

But the reason why its single player is so long is simple: You're doing the same stuff over and over and over. It gets far more repetitive and turns far more into a grind than Horizon. I don't know how often I ran the the same track and basically the same race over and over in order to advance the career in FM4. I've yet to do such a thing in FH.

Plus, I really have to wonder how people actually get through the game that fast. I've driven for 12 hours now, and I'm at 23% completion. That doesn't sound like a short game, at all. Afterall, it is a bit of a sandbox game. It's what you make of it.

Questions, is this game worth buying a brand new Xbox 360???

Cos thats what i did with GT5. So feeling abit cautious over spending $$$ the same way again.

With the recent price reduction on Xbox bundles and if you like open world racer, I would say Yes it's worth it.
But the best is, if you test the game out in a store.
Also, if you have a G25/G27 or T500 for your PS3, you should consider that you can't use your current wheel.

Yea, that's what making me hold back, i spent what i feel to me was a small fortune when GT5 came out, PS3+GT5+GT Driving Force Pro+Rig+an actual Alfa Romeo seat. Feel kinda bummed out. Esp. when Horizon seems to be the perfect game to play with a steering wheel.

You're right about testing it, gotta find me a place that has it.
