Definatly going to try and complete this game..ive only ever completed three in my life!

Well, I gave it the old college try. It's just not for me. I did a few races in the demo, and while I love the theme and concept (albeit not really a fan of the... rather cringeworthy presentation), I just can't get used to how the game plays. I can't make any sense of it.

And the reward for worst Youtube video ever goes to...

Forza Horizon Walkthrough, Review of Events, Paint Editor, Car Design

It's Jag-u-ar! Not Jag-wi-er! I hope this guy has a speech impediment so he has a valid excuse for pronouncing Jaguar so poorly...

I used to be in the same boat, but after watching ISR's review of the game, my interest in it has really sparked. Already got the game pre-ordered and everything. I think the reason why I didn't enjoy the demo is because it forced me to drive cars I didn't particularly like.

Not mine, Evomunks

Is there a livery editor in Forza Horizon?

I was very lucky and got the game yesterday already.
After a few hours played, I must say the game is awesome.
The only thing I noticed, is that the car sounds a little flat once you switched off the music.
Imo the soundtrack is great, but I prefer to listen to my car when racing.
Handling, FFB, Graphics and the "feeling" of the game are perfect.
Everyone who is still undecided about the game, because they think it's too Need for Speed or too TDU, I can say only say this ... is ... Forza ;)

I will rent this and check it out tonight. As long as it doesnt have an online pass, I should be fine. Probably start setting up my auction house and transfer all my vinyls from Forza 4. Get those into my storefront.

Game looks beautiful and awesome. One question though; how ''bad'' is the teenage-hipster-theme?

@camaroboy, no online pass required. Just login with your Xbox profile and go.
For the FM4 vinyls, you don't need to import/export the FM4 vinyls. If they are stored on the same Xbox, you can directly use them.

@Hyland, It's acceptable. Like the best Fast and the furious movie you could think off ;)
Of course a little cheesy, but which racing game with a "story" on top wasn't?
If you focus on the racing and a little collecting and cruising it doesn't bother, because the story is only in the cut scenes.
In free roam, the Horizon event gives a great athmosphere :D

Thanks for the heads up Spike.
Great news that there is no online pass. I hate those things.
Thats even easier than the vinyl import from F3 to F4. 👍

It's probably due to the vinyl system being carried over wholesale.

I was quite possibly the first person to pick up an LCE in Toronto, since apparently, BB wasn't supposed to take in-store pre-orders. 5min from home: I've got an hour to play before work...

One more additional info, I don't know if it was mentioned before.
With SmartGlass for Xbox 360 you will be able to use your Ipad/Iphone or Android device as interactive map, without leaving the screen.

Will try it out tonight :D

Edit: I also found out, that it will go live at the 26th :/
No problem Forza is fun anyways.

My wife just rented this for me. She said they only ordered 2 so luckily she got there early enough to pick it up. Thats rare for them to only order 2 of a game. Regardless I should be playing it tonight. Probably start working on my storefront right away then cruise around a little in the campaign. Maybe if friends are on I might try to drive around with them to explore the map or look for barn finds.

Xbox Live claims the device should sync automatically to the game, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything on my end. I've even started the game from the app, but the device just shows my main Xbox Live page. :dunce:

Edit: Ah, didn't see it doesn't go live til' the 26th. The app is just available in the mean time.

Game's pretty cool so far, but the soundtrack is absolutely killer in the game.

Playing the game right now, by far the best open world racing game ever. I am so in love with this game it's not even funny. *Ding* Oh, gotta go guys, install is done. Laters. ;)

I purchased the LCE version this afternoon and spent pretty much all evening with a friend free roaming around virtual Colorado doing co-op challenges. Unlike what some people have implied in this thread, Horizon isn't a successor to 4 but rather a spin off. I also don't think there will be as big as a migration of FM4 players to Horizon as some people here have said there will be, particularly if some of them try the game before hand and realize the formula is almost completely different to be a successor. I think there are certain areas Horizon doesn't pay as much detail into as FM4, for example while you can purchase new parts or modifications for your cars, you cannot adjust settings (gear ratios, spring rates, etc.) which I think will be enough of a turn off for some fans to stick with FM4.

I think this goes into attention to detail, but once again I have some gripes with the car list. After going through the dealership, I have come to the conclusion basically Playground just took about 1/4 to 1/3 of cars from FM4 (and a handful of them being FM3 veterans) and put them into the game with only maybe half-a-dozen all new cars. Looking at the LCE and October pack cars, I think pretty much all of them were either available in vanilla FM4 or were DLC for that game, the '57 Chevy and 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 being prime examples.

I don't think this is an issue exclusive to Forza but other franchises with licensed cars such as NFS as of late in that rather than creating a significant number of all new cars for a new title they make the bulk of the car library ones from previous games. I was shocked to see the 2006 concept version of the current Dodge Challenger in 2011's Shift 2 considering other games (including recent NFS titles) have long moved onto the production car, making me assume the devs may have just copy and pasted the model from an older NFS title like Carbon which came from a time where it was more common to use the concept rather than the production car. I remember playing older NFS titles and looking forward to the next title and seeing alongside some favorites from the old games that have returned, there was also a significant number of new cars that had not been featured in NFS before (or ones where there had been years since they were in the franchise), the transition between UG and UG2 is an example I think.

I know some people won't see a problem with Horizon's current car list almost entirely consisting of FM veterans, but I guess maybe I'm just used to coming from a time where a new title meant many new cars to boot also. I just hope that future DLC won't consist of mostly a re-hash of FM4 cars, I guess for someone that owns Horizon but doesn't own FM4 they won't mind as much but it feels like deja vu otherwise.

Horizon was never ment to be a FM5 as it targets a complete different type of racer.
Though many of us "sim-racer" will enjoy the game, the target group are the NFS and TDU out there. The part that should make the game interesting for us is the Forza physics and there I agree.
For the tuning part, I agree with you it would have been nice to tune the cars to your personal driving preference, but again as per the concept of the game it doesn' make sense.
In a FM4 or GT5 I tuned my M3 for a perfect setup on the Nürburgring, but in Horizon you have many tracks, just generated from street roads, so specific tuning becomes obsolete.
For the car park I would have also wished for more cars not contained already in FM4, but with having all DLC in FM4 you have all current cars, interesting enough to drive anyways.
So Horizon can only deliver in the future with DLC new cars, one example the Gumpert Apollo Enraged or the Ferrari 9XX Evoluzione ;)

My exact post on Forzaplanet.net.

I rented and played Horizon for about 4 hours last night. Messed around with vinyls for about 2 hours. So far I am enjoying Horizon. I will post my open minded positive and negative feedback for the game like I do with all games.

First Impressions.

I have always been a huge fan of T10 since the first Forza. So I am always looking forward to their games. I went into this knowing its their first attempt at an open world racing game.

The physics are amazing and thats the main focus of Horizon is to intigrate great physics in an open world game. They nailed it for sure. The physics are not quite as sim as F4 but not as arcade as other open world games. Its a nice balanced combination of both worlds. While there are no tuning options, you can swap a wide variety of parts to improve the performance of your car.

The vinyl system is 100% there from Forza 4 just with a different user interface. The game even loads your vinyls from F4 directly from your hard drive. You cant load entire car paint jobs but you can load all your vinyl groups from F4.

The graphics are really good. Scenery graphics are hit and miss but the cars look great. Obviously toned down from the F4 graphics but still look really good. Day night cycle is really nice especially when you see your headlights and dash lights turning on. Also seeing the sunrise is a nice touch while cruising around. No weather effects at all.

The co-op can be fun but overall is a bit disappointing. While you are in the co-op mode you can not get money for drifting, oncoming traffic, near misses, damage or anything else. You can only get money by completing co-op objectives. I believe there are about 15 co-op objectives. Draft someone for a certain amount of time, trade paint, drive from point A to point B. But while you are doing that, you can not make money. Plus, you can not get barn finds together at the same time. You can be sitting right next to your friend while he gets a barn find, but you cant get it. I believe this it tied into your rank but I am not sure. Regardless, you cant go cruising to find them together at the same time. Then once you unlock it, you have to go back to the single player to pick the car. Then come back to the co-op to drive your new car.

For those that argued until they were blue in the face about the map not being 63 sq miles, they are incorrect. It is indeed only very close to 63 sq miles. To top that off, you can unlock EVERY road in the game within 2-3 hours. I had 2 friends in my party last night that were just cruising around and within 1 hour my friend had half the roads unlocked. Another hour later, 90%. Half an hour after that 99%. The map is very very tiny. About 1/3 the size of Burnout Paradise. Which is fine because I knew it would be small. But some people were in denial about how small the map is. I will post more about this in the map size thread.

Overall Horizon does seem to be focused on a more laid back generation of gamers in a good way. Its much much more forgiving in many ways and that takes the edge off at time and adds more of a fun factor to the game. If you are in the middle of a drift and spin out, you are not punished. You can even bump some walls or AI and stil maintain your combos. Very generous which will reduce frustration for many people new to the series. Those expecting a massive full free roaming TDU2 experience might be disappointed. But if you go into Horizon expecting a more laid back casual Forza experience in an open world environment, you will enjoy it. 👍
