Oh, I've used it. I like tuning but I don't like banging my head against a wall to give purpose to something with no soul. If you like it, all good. Some people like the Tesla's as well.

I don't like the Teslas but I can recognize their place in history.
Fair enough.

It's not that I like it. The lack of gears bugs me, and the WEIGHT. EV's tend to be so darn heavy. Still it's a competitive vehicle that is surprisingly agile for what it is. If you don't mind an automatic (essentially) it's surprisingly good. I was just pointing out that it's a bad example for your comparison. My assumption that you haven't driven the car was a tad premature, as it turns out. I apologize for that. My tone was unnecessary.

I can't say I'm a big fan of the Teslas either. In game or IRL. Even if they are "all computer". ;)
The Ionic could have been interesting if they would have implemented the gears the real car simulates. They went so far as to emulate it's fake exhaust tone, but not the gears. Go figure. I hold out a tiny bit of hope the Xiaomi is a bit more interesting and dynamic, but I'm not holding my breath.

Something is dawning on me in this tennis match to-and-fro about performance vs utility vehicles...

The OG Gran Turismo games hinged hugely on Career Mode and all that entails (ie; picking up a secondhand shed on wheels as your first step towards dominating the world of motorsport).

Now that's completely absent, and it's obvious everyone is either confused, angry, or both, about it.

It's both. Definitely both.

Probably gonna jinx it but I'll be damned if the 2008 somehow becomes the next hottest 600PP grinding machine once the update rolls out
Honestly, I hope I can do some serious stuff to it. It won't be a DKR for sure but if there's enough stuff to make it a decent Off Road blast like it is with the Trucks and the Jimny, I'll be right on it. A engine swap with the 908 wouldn't be bad either.

I'm taking it off road straight out of the gate. Unlike some, I quite enjoy the rally tracks (even if the physics aren't 100% perfect). Having gears and an ICE should make for a much more tunable vehicle, than the Honda CR-V and Toyota CH-R.

Same here. I don't even care how accurate the Rally physics are, they're fun for me and that's all I care about. Its why even long after those menu books, my Tundra TRD PRO and F-150 Raptor are still used (And why I am in the process of really tuning my Jimny JC to match them in handling)

I recently'ish decided to try and turn as many quirky vehicles (i.e non rally/non AWD vehicles) into competitive off-road variants. Everything from 1938 classics to modern FWD's, and I have been having so much fun. Many of them have been WAY better than I thought possible (such as the little Renault R8, and the mk1 VW GTI). Those pickups you mentioned are stupid quick, and the Jimny's are perfect for a tight rally course. I just don't get all the hate for the rally physics. I've been playing rally titles for over 30 years, and most all of the techniques apply just fine in GT7. The only thing that I can see an issue with is some of the jump physics. Even after they were massively improved (Update 1.49) they could be further tweaked, if I'm being honest. Still I can't imagine not finding THIS fun:

I wish we had more tracks, some point to point, and rally time trials against SOPHY (So, closer to a real rally stage format), but I'm having a lot of fun with what we have.

Super cool design on that Focus!! Reminds me of the GT5/GT6 Rally versions! I love it!

I'd love to take credit for it. Alas, it's from another user. They did a great job, though.

Also, as a side note. Cats rule.

I unironically would love this
Same. The Ranch is my go to testing ground for rally tunes (post Update 1.49). I love the place.

Mentioned in the article: Auriol drove the #3 at Tour de Corse in '92.

And that's a fact which seems to have escaped this genius who left an abusive comment on Yamauchi's tweet this morning:

It's always the dumbest among us who use this as an insult while revealing their own stupidity.

Edit: His profile is full of some of the most stupid, racist stuff I've ever seen.
Dumbass.
According with the images on the website the peugeot 2008 has a manual transmission:

It's also right-hand drive.
4 of these cars can be seen in your local area and can be bought by most people whilst the other 4 can only be seen by handful of people, let alone be bought. What cars do you think make a bigger contribution to the world of motoring?
It does feel like GT7 is fizzling out a bit.

Which could mean we're reaching end of life - which would mean......

Can we expect in LCD as special picks The 3 legendary cars needed for complete the new extra menu?

I mean the guy looks like he pretty much practices all the slurs and less of the spelling OR actual automotive knowledge since according to him, the Lancia Delta was Checks Notes made by Abarth. Truly working with Geniuses here..

The Rally car was an Abarth project-kinda. Fiat divided projects amongst their brands but sometimes pulled resources and parts from on to use on others.

Ferrari would do F1.

Lancia would do sports cars.

Abarth would do rallying.

But in typical Fiat fashion this got muddled. And the Delta was a 'Lancia' but with an Abarth project code (Abarth SE043/44 etc.) and Abarth parts.

Update is live (not the servers yet, just the patch I mean).

Gr.3 BoP might have happened - GT Engine has the RX-Vision at 1289kg, but the rental one is now 1280kg for all three BoPs (assuming 1289 isn't a typo on GT Engine's part).

Edit: The Gr.B WRX (the most relevant since the Delta is likely in that class) has not changed.

I was with you right up until this. The Ionic is a BAD example. It's actually quite powerful, and perfectly competitive. Something tells me you haven't actually driven it or at least haven't given it a fair test. I mean, it has a lot of the same issues all EV's have, in that you can't really tune it (much) and being an EV it has no gears. So, it's not the most gratifying in that way, but what exactly are you expecting? It's plenty fast and can easily fly around Sardegna, or the like.

A better example would have been the Toyota C-HR. Just sayin'
I agree that the Ionic was a great addition to the game, but in typical GT fashion there are caveats. The major one being the omission of the "geared" drive modes, and the other huge letdown of not being able to run dirt tires. There are more than a few cars in game that can't be equipped with dirt tires and it just makes no sense. I want to rally EVERYTHING!

The Model 3 also doesn't get dirt tires... why? And I made a Lamborghini Sterrato replica only to find out afterward that it can't use them either.

Makes no sense.
If they're going to force crappy CUVs on us, can they at least give us the manual and/or non-hybrid model variants that aren't saddled with kick you in the nuts annoying CVTs.
Exactly. I'm all for pretty much any model being added to the game if it isn't pigeonholed into being a lifeless, untunable slog that gives us no reason to drive it.

Glad to see this new 2008 is a gasoline powered manual. At least it should be fun like the CX-30 is.

I don't know is the correct place to ask this but, wasn't the Valkyria supposed to be given away as a gift for watching the GTW stream after this update?

The official website says it will be given away as a gift ticket.

Correct! the livery of the Valkyrie and the GR3 from GTWS

Judging by japanese twitter posts, the customization doesn't seem to have anything crazy this time. Lancia gets a bunch of extra lights in front and mudflaps in the back (nailed it to be honest, that's all it need), Citroen has some subtle changes and a widebody making it slightly wider, Peugeot basically got the same, though one of the wings kinda looks like a 206 WRC wing.
