Once upon a time (when GT3 came out), I had more mileage in GT than I did in my own car in real life, even with commuting to work every day. But...

Losing interest in GT5.

Losing interest in all the speculation about the game.

Tired of waiting.

Someone wake me when it's all over and I'll go pick up a copy of the game.

👍 Yeah I am tired of people arguing about stuff thats irrelevant and stuff thats down to peoples personal likes  I think the wait for GT5 is destroying the GT Planet community .

Looking at your posting history it would be hard for me to call you a fan.
Are you really such of a fanboy you look at the posting history of anyone that criticises GT5?

For your information I was following the GT series when 99.9% of the people on this website thought Ridge Racer and Daytona USA were the hight of virtual racing.

I also follow whatever is at the cutting edge of sim racing, the GT series has been lagging for some time, but it appears many are GT fanboys rather than fanboys of the best sims.

The PD team is hooked on playing Forza 3 they don't have time to develop GT5 hahah

Haha! thats sooo original, how do you come up with such good humour!?

Hmmm maybe we shouldn't keep making all these threads with great ideas and new features we want. Now Kaz is busy hard at work trying to put more stuff in.

[Pray]Cheer up people, like it says on the front page it's likely been delayed for worldwide release. [/Pray]

I was thinking on what i was going to post, but really, is what i said on Neogaf:

Good thing i'll be working a lot this year.

First i was uber-mad with delays, but now i just shrug. I'll play it when it's released.

To me this tells a lot of things, specially that the feature set was not ready, hence the delay.

Maybe they didn't had Porsche, maybe the 20 tracks things was really that, and maybe in the 1000 car list, you had only 400 unique models and then a bunch of clones/variations, like in GT PSP.

Maybe the dynamic weather was static night, static rain and they changed that, maybe the damage was still bumper falling off and car veering to the left afterwards, and maybe they were having problems putting all that stuff on the track with more than 8 cars.

Also, the whole GTHD confusion probably took a lot of development time out of this game.

I guess every public demo and every quick look they do on message boards shows then the game will have to have some features, otherwise it will be "unacceptable".

I think the delay is self explanatory. All the features announced/expected are not in. Yet...

--------------------

Internet age and fan reaction grew a lot in the last 5 years... this is the first game they develop while being constantly help to scrutiny by their own fans.

We (the fans) made them change their plans at least three times ever since they finished GT4.

The most crucial part of all that was GT HD, and public reaction made PD scratch all of that. I'm sure that took a lot of development time out of them, even if things like car modelling went hand and hand.

You can bet they know a feature, or some features, are still not on par with what people expect from the game, which explains the latest delay.

I once was very mad with delays, but i'll try to be positive now. I'm glad PD doesn't like half-finished jobs, but i wish they were better at communicating with us.

I understand KY wants the game to surprise its fans, but i still think you can talk a lot about it without ruining the surprises, and that's exactly what they should do now.

For starters, they should clarify how they're doing the WRC mode and what's up with the 20/60 20/70 track count. If they did that, nobody would be losing their minds over a month delay.

This comment shows your ignorance.

yes...I think you got it...

seriously, it has nothing to do with: oh when you're a game developer than you can do what you want, or: it's PD and Sony's game, they can do what they want.

Not true; they have been throwing the GT brand around for some time now, and still not releasing it is pretty darn stupid, at least that is how the majority of gamers will look at it. The thing is PD missed their window of opportunity, which was a Christmas release, and with that I mean a Christmas or two back :).

I will wait for GT5, and have no doubt that it will actually be the definitive racing game for a very long time; yet I feel that the general gaming public has long since lost their interest. Think about it, they released GT-HD. Great awesome, hungry for more. Than there was prologue and everyone was led to believe the final game wasn't far off...

A lot of you will say: They never confirmed anything and be grateful they released prologue!

I agree with that, as a GT-fan, but really, does anyone expect the general gamer to think the same way? Of course not, they've had prologue for 2 years and nothing...

So I guess I am saying that this might hurt Sony or PD in the long run; but then again, perhaps not ;)

I wish I had known this before xmas so I could have requested an xbox
not that I'm not going to get gt5, but it would have been nice to use forza to keep me occupied a bit here.

No. I just vaguely remembered your name from another thread a while back where you were moaning so i clicked your name and it was like opening up a can of worms, its full of it.

I too own, or have owned, every notable racing game since the days of My Spectrum 128k. I just so happen to think GT is the best ALL ROUND game there is. Reading the known features of this game i cannot see, or have yet to see, any other game being able to compete on as many fronts as GT.

That said I do acknowledge you may indeed be a fan. Your just like my friend who was, for most of last season, slagging off the football team he supports. "we wont win ****all with this team", "The managers gotta go", "We are losing ground on other teams". Needless to say his team won the league and he was humble enough to admit his rash, misplaced concerns.

I wonder if, lets say 12 months from now, you too will be.

I wonder if were gonna get threads about what to drop from the game. Were only just finding out what's going in. It would be ironic if they had to drop a feature to make the game playable.

Whatever with the delay. It gives me more time to save up to buy a PS3, G27, and then the game (yes, I'm still content with GT4). I just got a speeding ticket that really dented the ol' wallet, so for the sake of my finances, I'm not too disappointed about the date being pushed back.

And for the US-viewers who're disappointed, we didn't have a release date to begin with to be pushed back, only the Japanese are allowed to be fuming.

I really think GT:PSP will be my last GT game... there is no way GT5 (if it ever comes out) will live up to the expectations of the next advancement of the series when you factor in all of the delays... in other words, the delays will not make the game proportionality greater in the end. Which is a damn shame.

I really doubt PD would drop a feature from the game, that's just absurd. They've spent an estimated 60 million plus on the game, I doubt they'd waste vast sums of money in development on something they developed and then did not release.

How many delays has there been? ;)

Technically speaking, there has only been 1 delay, and its for Japan. There has been no release date ever confirmed for anywhere else. Before that, there has only been rumours and speculation about the release date, so I'm intrigued how its percieved as more than 1 delay.
Its been a long wait, sure, but there has been no false promises and any dissapointment is the fault of yourself, not PD.

Hopefully the delay means we will get '10 models for WRC, SuperGT and Nascar.

The car list shown in the demos looks a bit outdated.

"While most of the interview related to the older games in the series, Yamauchi commented that he "hopes that GT5 will be finished during 2007", and that the next game will be "100 times more detailed than GT4" - although he didn't say whether this relates merely to graphics or also to other elements of the game, such as physics or vehicle tuning. "
*emphasis added is mine

Usual media techniques, what is said in the headline is not what is stated in the article.
No promises there, just a "hope".

Considering the fact that we never got a EU/US release date this is not even a delay, for you cannot delay something that does not have a set point in time.

This is what I think happened:
PD was working feverishly to get GT5 finished for Japan in March. In order for them to think this they have to have had the game at least 90% completed. After Marched passed they would worry about EU/US localization and region specific stuff. But something, I am going to guess there was a major problem with online or frame rate (ie something big), threw a wrench into those plans. A March target is now completely out of the question. As a result PD realized that they are now approaching the EU/US release window (I would say Q3 2010) and that a WW launch now makes more sense.

I feel like in order for them to say "March" the game would have to be almost complete content wise. This delay is most likely the result of a major glitch or bug that they did not see coming.

We need to take this one step at a time. It is likely with or without this delay we would be seeing GT5 in Q3 and with this delay IT IS STILL likely we will see GT5 in Q3.

This to.

I though the game was finished and haz said they could release it any time. That was last year.

Yep, SONY happened. I would happily bet that the status of the game had nothing at all to do with this delay, and is purely down to SONY wanting to push the game out beyond other big releases, and to get it into the 2010 - 2011 fiscal year. Now, if this means they work a bit more on the game as a result, so be it.

I agree with what you are saying. Back a few pages ago someone posted the figures about Sony had exceeded thier financial expectations by over two pionts for 2009 and they know that GT5 is going to sell alot of PS3 units for them so why not push the release date back to the beginning of 2010 fiscal year to start the year off running? I doubt there is any "development problems" at all, If there was then I do not think that KY would be jetsetting all over the world enjoying his time when there is a problem with his baby. This is a Sony delay(for good reason) and not KY or PD in my opinion.

Damn this has to be the fastest growing thread ever.

I'm seeing that as a worldwide release.... hopefully.
