The sounds were already genre leading. People want a more cinematic experience i suppose.

You must be kidding... genre leading? LOL. Sound was always one of the weakest point of GT. It's, at best, good that Kaz acknowledged that fact and took action... time will tell if they are as good as game like Forza or even NFS Shift (for me the actual reference of the genre). just here my MP3 sample on the first post of this page and compare it to GT4 or even Prologue... if you don't hear this huge CHASM of difference, you must be really deaf.

i agree, forza had one of the best engine sounds..

The video with the guy in the cap playing shows a bit of a bass bump and a rumble but under that you can still clearly hear a whine or typical fake GT sound(sounds just like GT5P on second thought, tone is the same, whine is the same, bass is increased) The others are official vids and since PD likes to play with the sound of those, they are automatically disqualified as any kind of proof.

The only thing that sounds good is the last "HIT ME" video on REDBULL http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite...1242903285226?refmod=ContentFeed&refmodpos=A1

Actually, PD's sound is genre leading, technically. Nobody else has a sound system like it.
It's just a pity the artists have not been able to make the best use of it yet.

Sad to say but the game with THIS sound is not yet done, maybe the next generation or the one after that - when you hear this Le Mans recording with good speakers, you can hear by yourself that we are still VERY FAR from the ultimate sound! ;-) Enjoy this pure bliss!

If you dont mind me asking but where the hell did you find this and is there more of this? This is the most beautiful thing i have ever heard.

:)

So it's like me saying I've invented the most technologically advanced micro mechanism in the world, but I can't show it cause no microscope has good enough magnification.
If they can't show it then why would I believe it?

Not really, no. It's like having the best lighting engine in the world, but **** assets.

What PD have done with the sound samples is good, but the samples used in GTP are rubbish mostly with perhaps a few that are decent.

Its like Zidane playing football with a sand filled sack!!

(edit, if you don't know anything about football/soccer, well Zinadine Zidane is one of the best football players of our time) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhcM4WP2cTc

Obviously, I'm from the US so soccer is way beyond me.
(sarcasm alert over)

I know what you're saying but it's odd. They have good samples yet they can't put them in the game, right? So then nothing else really matters since whatever great things everyone thinks PD has, we don't hear any of them. It's like me telling you I'm the worlds greatest flute player(no skin flute jokes please) but when you ask me to play something I sound like an idiot who's just making noise by blowing air into the instrument(no jokes).
I'm just gonna wait for the embargo to lift to see if sounds are improved. It's a major thing for me to have authentic sounding engines/cars.

Yes, the end result is more important. All we have left now is this small hope that all the Premiums have much better sound samples, and the frankly futile hope that the Standards will have been retouched...

From now on, when responding to your posts, I will always bear in mind that you're the world's greatest "Flutist"... ;) :P

Sigh. That will be a tough one to swallow. If the premiums have good sounds, then why not trickle that down to standards? If a premium STI has great sound why not associate that same file with older WRX/STI cars? It won't be authentic but at least it's more fitting.
Hahahaha. I dug myself into a hole.

I agree with you, the sound in GT5P is poor, but Griffith500 has a point about the GT5P ''sound engine'' be technically good.

As for football, I did not mean to be patronising, but if you quoted me some Baseball players or American football etc, I would be a little cluless.👍:)

Don't worry about it. I was born in europe so futball is in my blood, lol, and as far as I'm aware, 99% of the US has no clue about Zidane.

You either must be "deaf" or the biggest cynic ever. The drive bys are so obviously ingame, along with all the tyre noises.

I already proved the tyre noise in the FT86G trailer is the same one heard in the M5 burnout Gamescom vid as well.
So I guess PD must be overdubbing their tyre noises, onto their tyre noises now.....

Ok PD, you wowed us with the amazing graphics,
people who have played the latest demos testify that the physics and the feel on the steering wheel is great...now, please, finish the job with the remaining 1/3 of the sensory spectrum, which is the sound!💡 You promised us a total overhaul. Give us a final trailer with no music at all, other than the ode to joy, performed by all the awesome engines you've got hiding in those cars! You can start by adding sound to the start of the latest trailer and its intro soloist, the LFA. Make us proud and happy, we know you can do it!👍

You must turn it all the way around but even with this "fantastic sound recording ahead of the competition", it transcripts very poorly ingame. I just hope that it will be on par with GTR mods/NFS shift or F3... less will be disapointing.

Sorry, I just have this one only, I found it few years ago on the web and was completely blown away by the sound quality... this little sample gives a pretty good goal for future racing game simulators. You get all the type from the V8 to V10, rotative engine etc... you name it, it's just pure symphonic pleasure for the fan of beautiful mechanics.

I put back for the new listeners: Enjoy this pure AMAZING engine's symphony recorded at Le Mans:

Ya, shame this is the case. It's like creating a brilliant car, then putting wooden wheels on it.

+1 on that but i wont get too ahead of myself:drool: everything seems improved for the better especially with him acknowledging sound specifically @ TGS:tup:

Sure, he acknowledged it.. but what is he actually going to do about it? We haven't yet heard of this "new and improved" audio. I'm going to play the skeptic to avoid being sadly disappointed when the "new" sounds end up being only marginally better than what we've heard up to now.

I'm cautious about it, but I still do hope for something better. KY is usually really careful and doesn't speak more than he needs to(often less than he needs to;)), but he did say that the sound will receive total overhaul in an interview, so I hope it will...
We've seen stuff appearing even without any notice, like skidmarks/reverse lights/etc, they just showed up in the more recent builds, so maybe the new sound engine/samples is the last thing to present itself as a cherry on the top! I hope so at least...

In all fairness KY should know better as far as sound goes. He has raced the cars and has spent so much time around them. How could he be happy with what we've gotten so far?? Hes a hard man to fathom!!:nervous:

Maybe he knows something that we don't yet, and that's why he's grinning all the time.;) (awesome sound revealed in full game)
...or maybe he's half-deaf, and everything sounds fine to him... :P

Yea, I could see that going either way at this point. KY has very high standards, this we know. But, as some have argued, the PS3 might not be up to the task.

Still, I find it hard not to get my hopes up. And I'll be a bit heart-broken if we find the sound to be way off again. I know I shouldn't hold onto the expectation of great sound. But, I can't help it.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at. I never mentioned recordings, but I couldn't comment, since I've never heard their raw recordings. Their looping samples, most of the time, are badly mixed (from multiple sources - which are "accurate", in and of themselves, in a lot of cases) or are completely the wrong ones for the car in question!

I seriously hope, if the sounds do turn out to be "improved", that they are considerably better than all of those things you mentioned.
Game audio, especially in a "sim", needs to move on from The Fast and The Furious, and internet-derived samples...

I know how you feel, it's because the other areas of the game are way more convincing, but I don't believe PS3 is to blame...

I'd agree here. If the PS3 can handle the graphics and other content its slightly hard to swallow that all of a sudden its not good enough to allow for some decent sounds.
