I don't know where they got that Gallardo engine sound from but it certainly dosn't sound like they got it from a Gallardo:

They may very well be improved in the final build, personally I can only hope so:crazy:

Take a look at the chase cam at 2:46. Its not half bad.

It's OK, but it still sounds like a mish-mash of GT4 samples. And it doesn't sound any different (to me) to the other Gallardo footage in chase cam.

I strongly feel that none of what we've heard with the Premium cars is going to be in the actual game. They all sound like recycled samples from GT4, mixed and filtered to match the car in question.

I can't hear any significant improvement....
No grunt, all whine in "bumper"/cockpit cam.
But I still hope for the final game since Kaz said sounds will be improved.

If they used plain copy of BMW M5 V10 engine sound for Gallardo, that would be much more authehtic than this crap. It's like extremely short loop and sounds like our neighbor's cat scribbling the scratcher.

Lamborghini Gallardo with sound on Madrid.

The Gallardo in GT5 sounds nothing like the real one in the video above. GT still has that strange whine like the car is on a dyno and I think the throttle blip changing down the gears in GT is especially lacking. Hopefully they'll have better sounds in the game when it releases.

Kaz promised that didn't he?

This race sounds amazing. It sounds like the engines really do fill the air. Too bad it's low quality audio.

Agreed. I don't mind if some sounds are inaccurate. There's been a huge leap forward in the way cars are emitting sound. The amount of engine / exhaust / tyre noise has been balanced really nicely it seems.

I keep my fingers crossed!

Little kid doing a Time Attack against the Datalogger ghost, with a Lexus IS-F on the "new" tweaked version pf Fuji Speedway and doing rather well!!!

You can just barely make out the new improved V8 sound of the IS-F

Sounds like a 4 cylinder, not a grunting v10. good lord if the Gallardo sounds like that in the final game i will be pretty mad. And imagine the Murcie or the other lambos. o lord.

Was the last four cylinder you heard an Offy?

Yes, it's using samples that are not derived from a V10 / 5 cyl, but it sure as hell doesn't sound like a (modern) four!

I just hope PD don't make me look stupid, haha :P :dopey:

Does anyone know how the rain sounds when in the car or out? can you hear the windshield wipers? Really curious on this one.

about gallardo vid,

it's bumper camera. Watch till about 3/4 and he will change to chase camera. Nice Grunt there definetly like gallardo !

BIG IMPROVEMENT over gamescom demo.

I know ;) I mean Cell is more than enough for sound. There is a very good sounding games even on PSX1.

it depends on what you mean by good sounding, if you mean artistically good music/effects/voices than thats true, but if you mean : technically good sounding than thats not true.

ps1 didnt have 5.1 sound, even the majority of ps2 games didnt have 5.1 sound (for example MGS 2 have 2.0 sound in gameplay sections and 5.1 sound for cinematics, this proves that a technically good sound engine take a lot of processing power unlike what people generally think or else kojima would gladly use 5.1 sound in MGS2 gameplay)

for ps3, not all games for example have 7.1 sound, and for those games who offer 7.1 sound very few offer technically accurate and clean 7.1 sound...because it takes development time + processing power from the CELL to offer a great sound engine.

Some high tech pc soundcards possess hundreds of millions of transistors dedicated only for the processing of sound...

Gran Turismo's engine sounds (up to and including GT5: Prologue) are lack lustre at best quite frankly. I think by more clean and more comfortable you mean boring and sleep inducing... Its shocking the number of times I've fallen asleep whilst playing GT where I bet a large reason for it was the boring monotony of the engine sounds. :indiff:

Now I hope GT5 will be a massive improvement in this regard, theres nothing more dissapointing to buy a muscle car etc... in game only for it to sound like another sewing machine/hair dryer. Forza is massively ahead in this regard and one of the first things I do when I buy a car in Forza 3 is to take it for a test drive, look around the interior (yes only front interior unfortunately but at least theres 400 of them), rev the engine and then floor it to bask in the lovely sound as the car takes off. I have never ever done that in GT? Why because the engine sounds suck arse.

I hope PD fix this, it doesn't matter if the handling is fantastic and the graphics are jaw dropping if they've still got the same engine sounds... Its no where near the defintive game (for me at least). Engine sounds shouldn't be underestimated.

I dont totally agree, saying forza is massively ahead in the sound department is a very relative statement and depends completely on what you mean by : good sound

if you mean accurate realistic sound, than a lot of real racing videos posted in this thread showed clearly that ALL VIDEO GAMES without exception (be it Iracing, dirt2, forza3, PGR4, NFS shift...etc) until now are far behind in terms of accuracy and realistic engine sounds or overall racing sound effect...

we are really far away....

but if you mean : Fun rich aggressive and varied sound, than I agree with you. polyphony needs to work hard in this department.

Now if you think : fun rich agressive varied sound (each car has a different engine sound unlike GT cars which sound similar) = better and more realistic, than thats another debate...

I remember how bad the sounds in GT4 were.

Every car sounded exactly the same. Good lord, they were terrible.

I'm not too worried atm - I've heard some fantastic sound samples, and Kaz himself said they're looking to improve the engine sounds. I'm sure once we get the retail game, engine sounds will be much better. There are so many builds of GT5 all with partial features. We have yet to see the penultimate build with EVERYTHING IN IT. Probably going to have to wait until reviews for that !

Lamborghini Gallardo with sound on Madrid.

This is the same sound as the gallardo from the bet buy demo and it is clearly not a gallrdo sound file, we can to the the conclusion that it was a another car (which I have forgot) but there is no way it is a lambo.
