Oh, we exist. It's just people apparently can't cope with the concept that there's nothing to excite us and try to bark us down. Check back a month in this very thread...

I saw that :p. Can't please everyone, but in what way was SA empty?

I agree IV was dreary, I actually find myself feeling depressed if I play it  Too many 'go to a place and shoot a bunch of people' missions. I really enjoyed Tbogt though, feels more alive and bright.

From what we've seen V looks much less dreary, you can tell they've put effort into making the world fun and interactive. The story could still be dreary, we'll have to wait and see.

I suspect it'll be empty and dreary - following on from the emptiness of SA and the dreariness of 4 - but I hope it won't be, because the series needs a good game after so long without one. But either way, I'm not going to buy it until long, long after the hype has died down. If people are still playing it by Christmas, I'll think about it.

I think for the time and restrictions it had, San Andreas accomplished a lot for a PS2 game. GTA IV was just bad though. V is finally giving a lot of people what they've been asking for so I think it's safe.

I'm thinking the storyline is Michael comes back, they go nuts, his wife freaks out and leaves him.

Then maybe comes back.

That's a pet worry of mine. Half of people are stupid and asking them what they want is like asking my dog to do long division.

Three primary areas where missions occurred with largely empty countryside in-between them (and minor points of interest - Area 69, the dam), which provided little more than an obstacle between you and where you needed to be for the next mission. There was even one occasion in the storyline where you're dunked in the sea, two miles away from your next mission (with no alternatives) back in Los Santos - and CJ had very few places to climb out of the water, leading to a lengthy and boring swim.

Heh. Nail/head that, I think. It's just not how games should be.

Which is what I'll be doing. Leave the hype to expire, wait a couple of months to see if there's much of a dropout rate and maybe pick it up cheaper around Christmas if my fears are unfounded and there's still a community.

Based on this, you're a Conservative Gamer. I am one as well. I'm careful of what game I pick out and for that, I respect your input. :)

Understandable. I don't mind the 'empty' countryside because, for me, part of the enjoyment of GTA comes from driving around with the radio on (great if you have broad music tastes). If you're not into that it would be pretty boring.

And yes, I hate being stuck in the water with nowhere to climb out :grumpy:

Actually, that's a fair point. While I got along with almost all the stations in VC (I'm old, deal with it), I often switched the radio off in GTASA because there was nothing I like listening to. I liked maybe 2 or 3 songs and it wasn't worth waiting for them to roll round again.

And the leaked radio station list in 5 isn't promising

I loved the soundtracks for both VC and SA, I imagine that's quite a rare thing.
4 Had an OK soundtrack too, but some stations like LCHC :yuck: My goodness.

Haven't seen the soundtrack for 5, I like to keep it a surprise. As long is it's not all Hardcore throat 'singing' angry metal, I should be okay with it

I like LCHC. That and Liberty Rock Radio are the 2 I listen to.

San Andreas was Radio X and VC was V-Rock.

Am I the only person here who doesn't like rock music and rock radio stations??

There are a lot of people here who like other music but this forum is pretty rock oriented. It actually pains me there isn't more in V. Ruined the game a bit for me.

Also, new screen.

Really? I liked some soft-rock music like Feul- Cuarter from NFS Underground 2, but I totally don't like rock music in GTA. Don't know why tho.

I actually found myself turning off the radio in SA a lot, mainly because the soundtrack they chose was a bunch of already played out songs when SA was released. I remember thinking to myself that, just like in real life, if I heard Free Bird or Deep Cover one more time I was going to blow my brains out. At least in SA I actually could lol. IV had more songs that kept me engaged while driving. I never felt like I was listening to VH1's top hits of the (fill in era depending on which station you're on) on replay. VC was good because they were songs that were nice to hear again, like revisiting a bygone era.

I loved Liberty Rock and LCHC, especially with The Lost and Dammed dlc. What j really hope for though is a good reggae station. K-Jah in 3, K-Jah West in San Andreas, Tuff Gong in IV, even a bit of Massive B from IV.

As I've said before, I really hope there'll be a jazz station in V. From what I've seen on the revealed playlist, many of the radios'll feature hip-hop/rap and/or pop, so it would make sense to have something else, in my opinion.

What about West End Girls??!!

Every time I entered a car in IV, I instantly turned the radio off. I just didn't like any of the stations.

I preferred listening to the talk show stations in IV. I'm weird.

It's a shame that the newer talk shows aren't that funny though, compared to the golden Chatterbox. :(

I'd have to disagree. Although they aren't funnier than Chatter box, I enjoyed GTA IV's talk shows. Especially since some SNL regulars voiced some characters.

They've all had great soundtracks IMO, even going back to III. I did notice in IV though, It'd always be the same few songs playing whenever I got into a car.

IV was the weakest, though. It suited the game, just as they all have, but maybe least well known songs... but I loved turning up somewhere to kill a bunch of people with "I wanna be your dog" by the stooges playing... :D

As for talk shows...

"SQUIRRELS!"

'Just or Unjust' on WKTT was absolutely hilarious in my opinion, almost matches GTA 3's Chatterbox in terms of humour, but Chatterbox is definitely the best talk show from the whole series. I think what made it so great was that there was no reliance on swearing or sex references for the humour, it was just funny.

Soundtrack looks decent for V, probably spend most my time listening to

Vinewood BLVD, Radio Mirror Park and LS Rock Radio.

EDIT: Added spoilers for any who don't want to know. :)

i love gt5

I sometimes listen to the rap and rock stations, but I love the talk shows the most.

They're hilarious.

Integrity, Pressing the Issue, Chaterbox, always fun to listen too!

I'm kinda weird myself. But the talk shows are the best, especially the ones from GTA III up to IV. Whenever Laslow or Maurice Chavez is on, I can't stop laughing when whacked arguments or debates throw the topic discussion or random weirdness on Chatterbox and Integrity.

lintels123
Pasture Richards and the nudist, those 2 sum up Press the Issue for me haha

Those two always make me  even to this day. And don't forget O.G. Loc and Laslow and that Chris guy from the cult vs. Laslow's ex-professor. Then we got the goth girl with the weird laugh, man who eats people, shaving guy, people talking about spanking, Moorhead Rides Again, VCPR with the goth guy, happy girl who's dose up-to-the-eyeballs on pills, a con artist in a cheap suit named Jeremy Robards, a corporate businesswoman who wants to get rid of alligators and swamp people and the list goes on....
