Mason-Be careful if you find a 3rd gen, they made the Apex seals thin and usually brake around 50,000 miles, and a new engine is an order.

I've been quoted about $1800 for a reman and labor to drop it in by the only Mazda dealership in the state. (given no turbos, just the engine) I've been todl that's pretty dang cheap and there's probably somthing wrong, but $2500 is normal for just the engine, no labor, (or a rebuild of what you've got) Works for me, the car is worth it :) Also, if treated right, a 3rd is good for 80-100k before that problem comes into play. Works for me, the car is worth it :)
peace,

In August, my dad was on strike, and was called to help work on a '93 RX-7 that had trottle problems. The dealership is in Columbia MO, a good 2 hr or so drive from here. Me and him went.
This RX-7 had some major problems. It wouldn't rev above 3,000rpm, and most of the time it was at 1,500rpm, with the turbos at full boost, and it was stuttering. My dad thought that it was a wireing harness(or something like that, I don't really remember). He worked on it for 4 hrs, with no luck. That car was messed up.
I have ridden in the 3rd gen RX-7s, and they run great when there's no problems, but when there are, they can be a big pain.

yup, that's why you take care of them when you have them. if you get one and it's already got problems, you have to go through the headache of figuring it out. But once you do... It's not a car that can be used as a grocery getter, it's got certain things you have to do and keep watch of. Still, the car is worth it :D

Some people here may already know me or be familiar with my automotive tastes from another GT board. But just for introduction's sake:

What I own now:

1978 Fiat 128 Custom 1300 4-door

I'm down to one car for the first time in a couple of years, but it won't last - I'm already seeking out other cars.

Previous cars that I've been involved with, going back only to 1999:

1981 Fiat 131 Mirafiori/Brava 2-liter Twin cam
1991 Peugeot 405 Mi16
1989 Peugeot 405 S
1973 Citroen SM
1964 Renault R4L
1960 Simca Aronde Etoile
1984 Datsun 200SX
1974 MGB/GT
1988 Ford Escort
1985 Cadillac Eldorado

You could say, living in America, that I have somewhat eccentric tastes in automobiles.

You have a Lancer and you live in Illinios? Ohh, wait, that couldn't be an Evo. Do you have the OZ edition?

1994 Toyota Camry V6 XLE, I love the death out of it

It has a broken drivers side window, which makes parking garages and drive-thru's a bit of a hassle...
other than that it has not had any problems sence we bought it way back when, and the paint job is still fantastic.

Yeah, err...no disrespect, but...it doesn't get much more conservative than a US-spec Lancer. ;) Unless your mom wants you to drive a Metro or something.

1993 Mazda MX3 GS SE. I would love to see it in the game. They had some of its foreign counterparts and such in GT1 and 2 but not a freakin thing in 3 :( (I think they oughta put in MX6's and probes too, just figured I'd add that somewhere else ;) )

Wasn't the VR-4 the only 3000GT with a 6spd.? And uh, it's hard to beleive that having it turbo'ed, bored/stroked, and a racing beat(whatever that is) muffler is going to create 600hp..........., oh wait, I forgot about the neons...

- I almost beleived you until I saw this ------> March 17, 1987

he doesn't have his car type listed in his profile either. I would think most car guys who have signed up for this group and have a car that is soo modified, would want to list it. maybe even have a webpage to show it off. not trying to be mean to anybody, but I've just seen too much of this kind of thing, on the groups I'm a part of, since the movie "the fast and the 'stupid" came out. (you know, with the racers that were so expierenced that they didn't need seatbelts, or know how to get a good takeoff or that you don't put direct port AND fogger systems on.. hope I don't drag this thread onto that either tho)

I'd like to see cars like this in the game! I like the cars that are actually out there on the street, more so than most of the big super cars and and non-imported imports. For me, that is a major part of the fun of the game, you can go get a normal car and build it up and drive it however you'd like :D

Ok, actually it's my dad's car but I'm getting it when I turn 16 because he is getting a Ford Lightning. And no, I don't have pictures of it because I would rather put an intercooler or something on a car than spend $300 on a digital camera!

oh yeah, so find somebody with a scanner and take some poloroids of her. I'd rather buy somthing for my car than spend the $100 or less you can buy a digital camera for, too ;)

i own a 1992 nissan sentra se-r. great car. 140hp with 132ft/lbs of torque going through a 2500lbs car. came with a limited slip differential, a nice suspension, and virtually no options. gotta love buying a car that's stripped and ready to autocross. :D

That's a real SE-R! (Please note: the current automotive mistake by Nissan should not be wearing an SE-R badge. Thank you). Great car out of the box, helluva starting point for tuning, too. Gotta love an SR20...and an LSD, too, you dog. :D

You're right. There's been many threads on this subject, but it seems someone has always got to start a new one..............

Nothing too special, simply a Nissan NX2000, completely stock, used as a winter car...

my other car's a 1998 Acura Integra Type-R, almost stock, got 16'' Volk Racing TE37 with Toyo Proxes T1S, Mugen Exhaust and header, AEM CAI, Recaro SR-D seats (the stock ones were stolen a week after i got the car...) and an anti-tefth system... That's it for now, i should receive my Ground-Control Coilovers pretty soon...

Then, once the coil-overs are on, i'll concentrate on the engine, but that won't be too soon, i'm so broke right now...
