Does it look like a finished product, or does it look MORE like a finished product? Two different questions.

This upgrade makes it MORE of a finished product, but the game won't be finished until GT6 comes out. Until then, it's still a work in progress. It's fantastic, and flawed, and still growing and evolving.

Obviously it can effect, the design of the car, cooling and various other factos. They can't simply swap a F1 engine on normal road car say a hatchback and expect it is work. Lots of modification will be needed actually I am not sure it is even pratical. It is just wrong.
No one is saying swap ALL the engines into ALL the cars.

Not feeling the idea of engine swapping... Dev would only be able to guess how a car would behave.... UNLESS they test it our in real life!

Well I've finished with it.

This is the odd thing though. So may people here say that. Yet they still stick around on the GT5 forum.

I guess people just can't stay away lol.

The game itself seems more half assed in my opinion. Just kidding but I still can't stand standard cars and the lack of content.

There is no need for them to do that at all.

The physics engine isn't just for show, hopefully.

The forum is more addictive than the game for me lol.

Nope. Still need a lot more content (thanks DLC) and some more fixes/features (rims for my standards, plz)...

Gt5 WILL never be finished product , because it had been released while the game and kaz and pd didnt really finish the work , and the update just just makes gt5 better .

Until it actually includes all features on the box/in the manual, no.

I agree with you, until they add all the features that are include on the Manual.

But let see with every update it is getting close to be completed.

I don't understand why some people consider such things to be black magic. This would be a great addition to tuning.
I disagree. It GT5 was a street racing game, then sure, it'd be kinda cool I guess. Not so much in a serious driving/racing simulator though. That's my opinion anyway.

EDIT: Oh and yeah, I think it's pretty much a finished product. I've thought so since day one. Is it perfect? No, and that's why PD has kept improving it with free updates, and I'm sure they will keep doing so. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see a spec 3.0 update sometime next year.

I think it has definitely improved, but it's not even close to being done. In my opinion, it's not close to what Kaz wants it to be. Although he is getting there. I don't think every car needs to be a premium. What they have done with interior views for standard cars is exactly what I thought they would do with them. A-Spec definitely needs some more races (although we do have seasonals) and with more restrictions to make for closer competition. It would be awesome to see manufacturer/one make cups like back in GT4. Most of us paid 60 bucks for a game that was about a 7/10 or less when we bought it. Updates turned it into around a 8.5/10. Support for this game is always an ongoing thing, and there are many other games out there where dev's just don't care about releasing constant updates. I love how PD are listening to the fans and updating according to what we want, and not only doing what they want to do. Polyphony Digital are doing well. I just want more tracks!

*points at JGTC cars already in the game*

I don't think PD is done. At this point everyone is over the fact the GT 5 was released unfinished, so why not use GT 5 to test and tweak content for GT6. GT5 would almost be a fluid beta for GT6.

This is so much better than saying it isn't finished, yet. It's something that can't be measured or compared to anything, mainly because of this new thing called updates and because it's not as if there's an ending to it. People ask this question BEFORE a game is released, because technically, a game is finished when it's released. That's another reason why it isn't measurable. What other game has had these many updates after nearly a year past their release?

That's sadly untrue. Well, not exactly "sadly", but yea kind of.

The rest is definite. I agree.

Win.

BTW guys, people use cars with engine swaps on track IRL, so acting like it's far-fetched or unrealistic or un-sim-like is just asinine.
You may not like it, and it may not fit into your false preconceived notions that it shouldn't be in any "serious" racing game, but it's a part of life.

And I don't even care to do engine swaps myself. 💡

Engine swaps belong in the latter more than the former.

See #11? That's a BMW S1000RR. Only the original engine is missing. It's got batteries and two electric motors. This is a real sanctioned race. Engine swap.

This is pretty much the best way to put it. Whether GT5 is good or not, it still hasn't lived up to its promises. And that's probably the fairest way to determine "completeness".

A few more tracks with weather and day/night option (tokyo 246 looked like it was going to be one judging by a few buildings)

Yea this is what the track should look like this showing working street lights with day/night cycle which would be breathtaking :)

I would like to see PD implement city tracks with day/night cycles just to see how they would look

Seriously dude, read up on it

Engine swapping isn't wacky or crazy.

"Chrysler Intrepid with V8 and conversion to rear wheel drive."

You have race car for that and road cars with upgrades, tunning options.

In fact having custom or fictional tracks is more important. If Real life location takes more time and licensensing problem. They can look at all the great tracks and build their own with same characteristics

So basically at this point, you can't come up with a reason not to have engine swaps. It's not surprising since there is no reason to not have them.

We don't need custom or fictional tracks. You have real track for that and track editor with random settings, great tracks with their own characteristics.

I'd raather have engine swaps. I'd take that puny little 289 outta my GT350R (even though it's built) and replace it with the 351W the Mach 1 has =P Imagine 725hp in that thing lol

What!? They're full blooded race cars for christ sake!

Oh, this is about bikes now, is it? Ok, well, that may be a real race, but it's obviously far from as serious as Moto GP or SBK.

How about because it's completely unnecessary and does not fit in GT5 for a reason? That's what I think.

That distinction has no meaning in this discussion. Many, many of them are full-bodied race cars using engines pulled straight from a completely different car in the companies' lineup.

Not even mentioning things like:

Tyres pressure also ability to change the amount of steering lock

What's your point? They're race cars built with support from the car manufacturers. When people talks about engine swaps, they're not talking about race cars. They're talking about swapping the V8 in a Camaro for a Toyota Supra engine, and stuff like that.

I have given reasons already. Many manufactures like Mercedes-Benz, BMW have various engine for their cars like normal ones and high performance engine like AMG and M series of BMW which basically do that. Engine swap, drive train for making a fantasy car is not logical or pratical. They can have some popular modded cars though.
