The Goodwood event forces you to use skid recovery, so it's naturally going to be easier there.

The Stratos is the sort of car that will show who has a good fundamental understanding of driving a car fast and who doesn't. If you can't drive the car, then you should look at your own driving and think of what you're doing wrong, the replays can help greatly for this.
That's baloney (balogna?). I can push a Yellow Bird to the max around the 'ring without spinning out, but the stratos, with half the power, I have to drive at like 60% to keep it facing the right way. It's not me, it's the car.

How can you say it behaves incorrectly if you never drive it IRL?

How can you say the lunar rover vehicle is correct... you WILL never drive that .. Kaz will never drive it... especially on the moon .. so he guessed what it would drive like... I think that's a fair assumption.

Besides which..

I don't have to drive the lancia to know the game is behaving incorrectly... there is a this thing called the law of physics in the real world... somethings are possible ... and some are not... so understanding the law of physics.. I took a guess.. and I came up with... something is not right.

I havent complain about any behavior yet since I'm here.
Personaly, I find it perfect the way it is.
Its not a car for everyone tho :P

No you do have to drive a real Lancia or similar to know its behaving incorrectly or not. Have you? No you have not.

I on the other hand have driven one, not a Lancia, but I have raced a very similar car on an actual race track, and it was just as tail happy, I had to drive it the same way I drive the Lancia and I can string together a decent lap with it driving that way. I even used the Lancia for the 15th Anniversary Seasonal Trial and easily beat the Gold target time.

So before you say there's something wrong with the game its best to have some real proof behind your assumptions.

This machine is infamous for it's ridiculous handling. It's hard to drive by nature.

OK smart arse...

before you go thinking you know me and where I come from & what I know about sim racing and car physics...

read through this thread..

then tell me I dont know what I am talking about. and you drove a similar car so you know what your talking about... please.... spare me .

You don't know what you are talking about. Every post you made since GT6 is a baseless complaint-fest.

I went ahead and read your thread smart arse, and I have raced cars, you have made a sim. I still think you are wrong, I DO know what I'm talking about because I have raced similar cars in real life. Just because you made a game in the past it does not qualify you to say that the Stratos feels right or wrong compared to a similar or the same car. When you have driven a Stratos or similar, in anger, on a race track, then it qualifies you to come back and say that it is wrong. Until then, I don't car if you ran Sony yourself, you're still wrong.

In fairness...

I think me making a driver training aid.. for professional race car drivers.. gives me a billion times more understanding on GAME physics than you give me credit.. for.

And just because you have driven a few cars is great... but do you understand how to translate that information into a game... I think maybe not..

I drive cars... and I understand game / sim physics..

So I am sorry to spoil your thunder.. but these two things give me a far better understanding of physics inside of a simulation than your good self.

If you owned .. or race a lancia stratos.. you may have some weight to throw.. but you have neither when it comes to simulation physics.

I love this mentality. Next we'll inevitably be pointed to either a) youtube video, showing off some mad driving skillz y0! or b) an absolutely epic leaderboard time to prove said mad driving skillz.

This car is beyond drivable. The game is 5 days old. Is it an exact replica of the Stratos' handling characteristics? No.

There you go ASSUMING that I've "driven" a few cars. Sorry I haven't created a thread stroking myself and talking about my work experience. Needless to say I have over 15 years experience RACING many types of cars.

Assuming you are not BSing us, then yes of course you have an understanding of game physics. But that doesn't change the fact that you are still WRONG about the game handling for this car. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, the only game even close is iRacing. But having driven similar cars in real life on a track I can say for sure this car behaves almost the same as real life.

Maybe you just need some practice but don't blame your lack of talent on poor physics. BTW I'm not the best at this game either, because NO game is a replacement for real life. The SOTP feel is a huge aspect in competitive driving.

Whats funny is when I installed GT6 and played it the first evening I was being a bit lazy and hadn't set my wheel back up.

The stratos is really easy to countersteer on the DS6, it drives like you're playing ridge racer.
I crushed a bunch of races with it, then set my wheel up and tried it and had to give up on it and switched over to downtuning the megane.

Ok look..

You have driven something similar ( so you say ) ... so that's close enough for me. I am way off with my analysis of this car your so familiar with

I'm obviously lying about my past work experience ( to which I provided proof & can provide a crap load more ) .. and am far to busy stroking myself as you put to continue this argument with yourself.

Thanks for your advice and thanks for correcting me .. really I do appreciate it.

To finish ...

before you come back with some sarcastic pointless retort that I am lying and I don't Know what I am on about.. Please take a moment to think about this. I have provided proof & I have considerably more knowledge in this " game / sim industry " than yourself... and maybe... just maybe there is a chance.. I do know what I am talking about.. and when it comes to the SIM physics... maybe you don't know what your talking about

After all .. the 6 drivers who were testing my driver training aid ( and there were several champion drivers in there ).. all were in agreement it was very realistic and the best they had tried at the time...

In answer to the OP's question, no, the Lancia Stratos 15th Anniversary car is not undrivable. It is a car that has a wild side and just takes a little practice to tame. I personally like the car as its a blast to drive.

I didn't say you're lying, I said you're wrong. You believe you are right, but I believe you are not. I also didn't knock your sim, but YOU weren't the only one who built it. I'm sure you do know what you're talking about, but in my opinion you're still wrong. I do my job very well, but I've been wrong there, and I admit it, it does happen.

I am allowed to have an opinion, and I base mine on my actual racing experience (which you question just like I have questioned yours). You I am sure know a lot about sim physics, but the damn car still handles correctly based on my experience. You said it defies the laws of physics, please explain exactly WHAT laws it defies, because again, in my experience and IN MY OPINION it does not.

PS I am not posting all my personal details here, but if you would like you are free to privately message me and I will be more than happy to show you my experience. Not that it matters anyway.

Thanks for that 👍

Your correct & and I am as you say Wrong

The Stratos is likely one of the most challenging cars ever made, so it's not broken.

This is the kind of post that add fuel to fires on forums...

I assume you are a racing expert or a top end games developer with years of experience to come up with your statement ?

All i will say is....designed to go sideways by default.....not hard to drive at all......and every the stig failed to drive a stratos round the top gear track properly.
Personally i love the stratos and would choose it over any rally car in game. To say its incorrect is infact incorrect, watch every race its ever driven and tell me it went straight for more than 10 seconds.......

I'm sorry I restated something countless people have said before. I was totally out of line in saying something that in no way affected you. My bad.

I don't think there's anything wrong with this or any of the other MR cars, I think there's something wrong with the tire model. Doesn't give you any feedback on the edge and even comfort tires let go as abruptly as slicks, I don't get it.

watch the stratos video here...

foot on the floor... one hand on the wheel... he looks like he's really fighting it...

THE GAME IS INCORRECT... for the last time...

Yes its Marku Allen driving.. but look at the LACK of steering wheel input... that car does not look likely to swap ends at any second.
He even states " its so easy to drive" ... is he wrong ??

Chris harris says .. the car feels very balanced .... is he wrong too ????

I am not going to keep giving you advice ..and proving my statements... understand... the physics in GT are incorrect.

by posting your adding your thoughts into the conversation... so it kind of did affect me in a round about way.

I notice your avatar is Chris Harris.. I much respect for him..

Watch the video I posted of him in a Stratos saying how balanced it is... you still stand by your statement of the game's not broken ??

When saying that the physics are broken or the car is undriveable.. what I mean is the handling of the car. It is very difficult to say exactly what part of the physics / tyre system is faulty.. but there is without question.. something quite wrong with the updated physics / tyre model of GT6.

I just beat the IB European racing championship with the Stratos, stock (with sports softs). Its over 100pp below regulation so I had to put the tires on to give me a fighting chance. I love the car.

I use a wheel, clutch and pedals. If you counter steer with the rotation and apply gas evenly to straighten you out (remember MR car, means applying the gas gently will straighten you instead of rotate you) then the car is very quick and a really aggressive driving experience!

Sorry ... go and watch the video I linked to..

There was no correcting oversteer... and no fighting the wheel... and he was not hanging around.

DAMN IT... it must be the real car that has the faults.

What does it take for GT FANBOYS to admit fault !!

I barely counter-steer. I really mean twitching the steering, not drift style counter-steer.
If you want we can drive together tonight? Always like to drive with people. I got a close friend who likes to drive too. I'm teaching him.
