Impressive how people use tools like this! For me it would enough to have standard layery / vinyls which I can recolor, ad some Text and simple symbols and objects. I would also nice to be able to import jpg.

I wonder how PD will prefent people driving with nakded porn girls and swastikas on their cars online ;)
i guess if your online it is up to the room creator if offensive designs would be allowed

Actually, wasn't it said that PDs guys look at the forums a bit?

I think it is safe to assume that PD staff are collecting information from these Suggestions.

They would have Product Management people, part of whose job it is to communicate customer feedback to Engineering. I used to be a Product Manager. Part of the job is to build a database of potential future features, and work with others to prioritize those features. An assessment of the cost and time to develop would influence the priority. Then there would be meetings with Engineering to negotiate a final list of features to include in a release.

As a Product Manager, part of my job was to explain to Engineering why certain features are desired by customers, and why others are not. So a suggestion list like we are building here is a godsend, and to ignore it would be career-threatening!

So, yes, you can count on PD copying and pasting liberally from these postings. Especially posts which describe the desired feature clearly and explain why it's important to you.

Just gotta add: I have Forza 4. I'm tired of playing Forza 4. The physics are arcadish. The online experience is a disaster. BUT- man, oh man the livery editor is awesome. It is so much bleeping fun. You guys would gladly dispense with half of the cars in GT6 if it meant having the livery editor. No, it's not essential to good racing. But it rocks.

How many likes does a topic need to get it added?

The raw vote count may not be a particularly good measure for ranking suggestions. Here is one example of why this can be so.

Let's say we have two types of suggestion:-

Type A are suggestions which are simple to describe and understand, are clearly good, so we click "like" and move on without commenting.

Type B might be poorly described, or create controversy and dissension. So they get lots of replies (both positive and negative) and stay on the "front page" of the suggestions for a long time.

Type B suggestions push type A suggestions off the front page and end up with a disproportionate number of likes.

Which is why GT7 will have a premium Supra instead of a KAMAZ Dakar truck.

Come to think of it... the lack of an option to import images from a computer probably keeps some pornographic liveries out of Forza. I'm guessing the people who want to drive around with those liveries don't have the skill or time to make something that looks even remotely good.

Ohhh . . . I wouldn't say that. I've seen some rancid graphics on a couple of Forza cars throughout the years. I have no idea why somebody would sacrifice their account standings and risk being reported, but they do it. As far as skill goes, it's very easy to make whatever livery you want. I made an "alternative lifestyle" themed NASCAR Fusion as a joke (NEVER raced it online!) and though it was rather comical, it was easy to do.

Nice plug there, but please understand that a premium Mark IV Supra is something that many JDM fans were expecting and sorely wanting, much the same as how many M3 fans expect (and really want) an E30 M3. That Dakar Truck is a totally different group of suggestion, Group C if you like; crazy pipedreams that while many of us would love, few seriously believe they would be in GT without the help of a popularity contest, such as Ecto-1, the Mohs Ostentatienne Opera Sedan, the Foose Hemisfear etc.
;)

There are so many ways to moderate liveries, so I don't see how it could be such a problem to just omit them because some people will try to do some offensive things.

You could have an approval process to allow your livery to be shown online. Perhaps limit it to 1 livery per day, or 2 days, and if somebody submits and offensive livery, revoke the privilege for a week.

Have options to allow or disallow custom liveries in a lobby. Have personal option to never show liveries if desired or always show liveries.

Edit: And as others pointed out, have a "report livery" option in case any offending liveries make it past the approval process. Something would also need to be done so that "report livery" does not get abused.
This is a very easy thing to moderate. The Call of Duty franchise has made emblem editors for both Black Ops and Black Ops 2. The Playstation network has strict guidelines for offensive material online and has a reporting process for violators. Also there is an in game reporting process that goes back to Activision/Treyarch and they can remove the offensive emblem and then suspend the user from making emblems for a short period or permanently for multiple violations.

There really is no excuse for not having a graphics editor of some sort. My guess is they were too preoccupied adding 100's of Mazda Miatas. Maybe it's some sort of Chinese restriction on creativity, no user made graphics, no creativity on adding new cars so let's add another Miata or Nissan.

I wanted to drift like a Hashiriya in GT6... but with no custom liveries, I feel that something is lacking.

Okay, this might be insane with blue glowy sleek lights, but just imagine this without the glowy-ness and the sleeks.

I'm just imagining a Livery Editor WITH the option to add the glowy lights! That may be because I need all the tools at my disposal to compete effectively in a new GT6 photo thread I'm designing, called something like "Park your good taste outside and Post your photos inside".

Seriously, I'd love it! Just for the fun.

If PD would gave us more options to customize our cars so we can make them look exactly how we want, PD would end up reducing street racers a bit, to say the least. (Some of them pimp up their car for attraction and drift them to make others think that the driver is a good one I think)
Although, Livery editor with lights that can flash may be enough to reduce street racers a bit IMO.

I think that we really need a livery editor. Just something with shapes and premade graphics + number plates.

Below is something I could make with a simple editor.

Now it isn't that bad. But you can't really make anything too vulgar without it looking horribly done.

TL;DR: The simpler the livery editor, the less of a chance you can actually make a 🤬.

Just my 2 cents on this.

Just have it put in the game. We should be able to color different sections of the car (hood, front bumper, rear bumper, spoiler, windows, doors, fenders, maybe even the headlight lenses, etc.) along with creating the livery in the game. You could put letters, numbers, shapes, company logos, and other random decals. A game I would like to quote on its livery creator, is Need for Speed Shift (1). I don't know if I should quote the game, but I am. Just for a reference. We should be able to paint different sections on the wheels too (spokes, any other section) Also, choose different rims per wheel. Have one style on the front, with another on the rear.

This is a must have.

I would love to have the possibility to make liveries in Photoshop (or any other software) and save it to jpeg and than import from GT and past it in the car.
PD promised that livery editor would be present but I don't see why they can't bring it.
