So...I guess I'm still a little confused. Are common Pokémon from Gen 1 for example like Pidgey still available to catch in the wild in the new games? I'm thinking, if I do end up getting it, I'd just do what I always wanted to and never did, by solely training bird Pokémon, unless I really need something else, but birds would be my main crew.

You've been out of the game to long, not sure you could hang :sly:

Most likely not, I'd just be playing it for the story portion I guess, not looking to battle other people.

You can get all of them. That's what trading is for. Online has made it so easy to do. There's not really any point to transferring legendaries over from previous games. The advantage of legendaries in ORAS is that they come with at least three perfect 31 IV stats - that and ORAS has a lot of them to catch anyway.

Trading...if you have anything worth giving back.

It depends on the game. In X and Y you can get all the Generations Bird Pokemon but in ORAS you can only get the Gen III bird Pokemon.

So I've been playing a lot of Pokemon Blue and decided to have fun and 🤬 the mainstream way of playing.

  • After Misty and got HM Cut, I went straight for Rock Tunnel ignoring Lt. Surge.
  • When I got to Celadon City, I got the Poke Doll and Fresh Water before going straight to Saffron City completely ignoring Erika and Koga.
  • Due to a Poke Doll glitch, I was able to finish the Pokemon Tower saga without the Sliph Scope. Completely skipping the Team Rocket HQ.
I am currently at Sliph Co. with only 2 Gym Badges and pretty underleveled Pokemon (I beat the Fighting Dojo with Lv. 27s since I did that before the Pokemon Tower)

My Team which is full ever since the Fighting Dojo:

Nidoking (Purple) Lv. 31
Nidoqueen (Blue) Lv. 31
Hitmonlee (Brown) Lv. 32
Flareon (Red) Lv. 32
Raichu (Orange) Lv. 32
Wartortle (Azure) Lv. 32

Overall Gen I was WAY easier than I remember it, maybe Yellow is harder but I have yet played it.

Has anyone tried skill swapping Protean into Archeops?

Might be risky in a Doubles (I recommend doing this in a Triple) but it is so worth it. Archeops pretty much destroys anything in its wake thanks to having every move becoming STAB boosted and its 140 attack, while being unpredictable with its typing.

Does anyone have a Moon Stone that they no longer need?

I need it to evolve my Nidorina but I already used my single Moon Stone to get a Nidoking.

In ORAS? I have a moon stone that i dont mind giving.

If you're talking Gen I here, I don't think there's a way anyone could give you a Moon Stone even if they had one to spare.

You'll just have to trade your Nidorino to a Neighborino.

No, I'm not a shiny hunter, just getting some of that St. Patrick's day luck.

Caught a yellow magikarp using an old rod, then went through the elite four with a level 100 Blastoise (my first Pokemon, had it since leafgreen) and now I have the red gyarados itself.

I have several in X but not sure how I'd get you that for the gen 1 games.

Screw you Waflz

I guess I'll go fishing. I've been searching for one since RF and LG

I caught mine on route 104 in hoenn with an old rod, I think the chances are about 1/4096 or something this generation, so you might still be there all day. Kind of like real fishing. But you have double the chances of the previous gen, and as Han says: "Never tell me the odds".

Anyways, good hunting!

EDIT:

Also, here's a random guide I pulled off YouTube about chain fishing. I didn't chain fish to get mine, but if you use the rod in a place you can only catch magikarp, you'll have significantly higher chances.

Don't worry I already had that saved, thanks though. That's what I decided to do (chain fish) after you reminded me of Shiny Magikarp.

@LMSCorvetteGT2 @TripleA5 @Lain

I'm talking about ORAS, there are enough Moon Stones to get both in Gen I (I already do have both in Gen I)

@MrWaflz55 I always love random encounter shinies :p. I'm no shiny hunter either but my most prize posession is my Purple Swampert that I got ever since Sapphire as my starter Pokemon, it is now with me in AS and thanks to the Reset Bag, I have now EV trained it so it can kick some 🤬 :p.

Whoever came up with the Reset Bag is a true saviour to those who treasure their childhood Pokemon.

Ah, ok cool. Though you don't really need Moon Stones for the Nidos in Gen 1 if you know how to glitch them. Gotta love smashing Brock with a Level 100 Nidoking.

Anyways, who's hype for Pokken Tournament? It's happening TODAY!!!

I don't like to glitch Pokemon as to me, the fun of Pokemon is to raise them.

As for Pokken, not really. It looks really cool but I just can't get behind the character roster, it relies too much on fan service (minus a few additions like Braixen and Chandelure). The Support Pokemon look better to play as IMO.

Looking forward to pokken tournament. I just wish there were some other characters in it, other than doubles of some fighters.

But right now I can personally vouch for chain fishing. @LMSCorvetteGT2

Hey, if you can't find one I'll trade somebody. I'm looking for some eevee-lutions

Ive been working on my shiny living dex for the past few months, currently at 141 of 721. Chain fishing is a great method to get them. I have been trying Dratini in Y, but so far only have 2 Poliwhirls and over 9 Basculins.

Unlikely, but maybe Nintendo will go the Splatoon route here and support Pokken with additional content over time. I'm not counting on it, but it would be awesome if they did.

Anyway, my copy arrived today. Haven't given it a whirl yet, but I will soon.

It's an instant buy for me if they include Eelektross into the game :p.

If it's male sure, I can personally vouch as well I got two shiny magikarp after we talked last night but both were female.

That made me think...

Maybe for the 20th Anniversary of Pokemon we should have a GTPlanet Pokemon Series, using the same formats and regulations I mentioned...
Rules and Formats;

OR/AS games (I'm willing to change this and make it Kalos Rules to allow X/Y Players).

All battle formats (except Multi Battles) will be used. (I'm willing to allow the fanmade Free-4-All into the mix)

The amount of rounds and what rounds use what format won't be determined until we have a set number of Participants.

Each round lasts for 1 week so you have 1 week to do your battle and send the video to us.

Pokemon Limitations:

You can only have at most 1 of these on your team;
Mega Pokemon
Mewtwo
Lugia
Ho-oh
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Dialga
Palkia
Giratina
Arceus
Reshiram
Zekrom
Kyurem
Xerneas
Yveltal
Hoopa - Unbound

These are banned:
Mega Legendaries (except for Latios, Latias and Diancie)
Primal Legendaries

These Moves are banned:
Dark Void (this move pretty much breaks Double and Triple Battles)

Thanks for the Moon Stone (and the Caterpie for a bigger bonus).

I won't use it yet as I have other commitments to do first.
