Funny you say that... I own the NA versions of X and Alpha Sapphire (AKA the blue ones, like Moon), while for Y and Omega Ruby (red ones like Sun) I got Japanese copies.

No particular reason, since they're all multilingual anyway. Since I'm no longer living in Japan though, my copies of Sun and Moon will both be the NA release.

I know you didn't, I just felt it should be said. As someone who has played VGC stuff, and spent countless hours IV and EV running, every new rule change to undo the dedication one needed to be the best is making the VGC in general dumb.

Thanks I should have put an edit a few hours ago, I just looked it up and saw that it starts today and all. Thanks anyways and good thing you said anything at all or I wouldn't have looked it up in the first place. 👍
 
I will need to log onto Pokemon Bank after work. Loving all these free legendaries. Finally having a legit Mew and Celebi feels good!
 
I'll probably give Mew and Celebi to other people for Pokemon I actually want, once the event ends.

I didn't get the Mew but got Celebi, I have 3 from previous events on the gen 4 and 5. You just gotta know where to go to get event pokemon if you miss out. I just need Keldeo and the Hoopa, and the FIRE/WATER legend and I'll be done.

Volcanion hasn't been released yet. I am hoping gen 7 will finally allow for some of the types that have been missed like Poison/Fire.

Two types (Flying and Water) now have combinations with all of the other types.

I know Volcanion hasn't been released, still doesn't change the fact I just need it and a couple others to complete the dex.

I haven't played Pokémon since Crystal, but the nostalgia lately is real. If someone could give me a crash course on what the major differences are now from back then (like new types, hidden abilities etc.) I'd be interested to hear it, aside from their being ~500 new Pokémon since back then.:crazy:
Do the new games actually include all 700-whatever Pokémon? Is it still set up in such a way that you can ONLY get certain Pokémon by trading them in from the originals? Like getting Zapdos from Pokémon Red for example? Can you even trade Pokémon from the old games to the new ones? When I played Crystal I had all the legendary Pokémon I think. Zapdos, Moltres, the ice bird (hey, let's see you remember all their names after 15-odd years), Ho-Oh, MewTwo, Suicune, Enkei and Raikou.

As for differences, the big difference is the Fairy type. It is strong against Dragon, Fighting and Dark types while being weak to Poison and Steel several old Pokemon like Clefairy are retcon to be Fairy type. Mega Evolution is also a new mechanic, getting a Pokemon and make it hold its Mega Stone allows you to Mega Evolve them during battle once you get the Mega Ring/Bracelet by processing through the story. You can only Mega Evolve once per battle.

The games do contain all over 700 Pokemon and yes they still do Multiple Versions that require you to trade to get all of the Pokemon (btw Zapdos is no exclusive to Red as you could get it in Blue and Yellow).

You can transfer Pokemon from Gen I to Gen II. Gen III to Gen IV. Gen IV to Gen V. Gen V to Gen VI. You can't transfer Pokemon from Gen II to Gen III. You can however transfer Pokemon from the re-release Gen I and Gen VI to Pokemon Sun and Moon

Just too attach to the Pokemon, I've raised when I caught them just to throw them away for one with better IVs.
 
4227-5018-1598. I don't throw any pokemon away. They fall into pro. comp use, friendly use (usually my pokemon I first catch in the game), breeders.
 
Fair enough, I like to use my Pokemon for all of those things despite disadvantages in the former :P.

Anyway, just added you.

Well, the whole deal of not being able to get all those Pokémon is discouraging, especially since I only own Gen I and II. Not being able to transfer them to the new games is a bummer. I turned on Crystal earlier today and saw I did have Lugia as well, I'd just forgotten it existed. I knew you could get Zapdos in the others, I just used Red as the example as it was the one I played.

You can get all of them. That's what trading is for. Online has made it so easy to do. There's not really any point to transferring legendaries over from previous games. The advantage of legendaries in ORAS is that they come with at least three perfect 31 IV stats - that and ORAS has a lot of them to catch anyway.

I still use my Legendaries from Gen III & IV over ORAS Legendaries :p.

Besides new/returning players shouldn't associate themselves with EVs and IVs yet until they mastered the basic elements. Introducing those to them would be overwhelming.
 
So do I but I like getting new versions of them. Fair point about IV/EV though.
 
I often trade the new versions away unless they are apart of my in-game team (Like my AS Kyogre).
