ah, what happened?

I added Mule to my PSN, sent a level 22 ticket and.... got no response or thank you.... nothing at all.

Strange, always been quite appreciative towards any favors people do for him. Steve will definitely send thanks, I'm sure. But I know how you feel, sometimes feels one sided, but yeah, life and such.

I haven't been on since then. I haven't even accepted the ticket, as I've been doing other things.

wow....

That's what I thought, no big deal, just some delayed communication due to different work and timezone schedules.

Sent him a PSN message.

Just so you all know, car selection's going live tonight, and naturally, teams will all be decided up by who goes where, nice enough right?

I guess i better test the cars then, lol.

I should also note that car selection deadline isn't until the day before Spa, so you have time :)👍

Will we be doing first come first serve or JGTS style with the 3 options?

Still deciding on choice :scared:

As it's described in the regulations, it's completely open, but the important aspect is being a contributor to a team, only the top three scoring drivers for each car score team points for the car's team, e.g. Peugeot Sport, Joest, Oreca (Viper), etc.

You'll want to be part of a team where you can contribute more, so if you feel like you can be the the top dog of a team, grab the car and prove it. If you're more humble and would rather just drive a car you like because you like it, no problem there either, you can be a vital asset to the team, not by scoring team points, but by taking potential positions away from other teams in your class.

Both classes should have quite exciting driver fields, with the potential for team battles to go all the way down the divisions on a race weekend, really riveting stuff when you think about it.

A couple clarifications with regards to room assignments and the possible influence of the teams with that assignment.

From the regs I see seven LMP1 drivers qualify for room A, but is that the fastest qualifiers for that track regardless of team? If 6 of the fastest 7 turn out to be from team Peugeot then so be it they get a lock on all those positions and thus team points for that track? Or are there one or two reserved spots for each team in room A?

One downside of fastest 7 regardless (which seems fair at first glance) is if a certain car has an advantage at one track (but equal over the entire series) it may be magnified by the room split. Or if the cars are fairly equal over a full race due to differing tire wear rates, but one is just a slightly better on fresh tires where wear really doesn't come into play over a 2 hot lap qualifying run.

I haven't seen the point system, but I assume points drop off continuously from room A to B (i.e. last in A gets more points than first in B). I also haven't tested the cars at all at the series specs so this all may be a mute point. Honestly, I'm fine with whatever you do and not at all trying to stir up anything, just curious what you guys have thought about with regards to these issues. In the end I suspect the driver championship is foremost on people's mind anyway, but being locked out of room A because your car has a slight quali disadvantage at a single circuit could be a real blow to the driver championship. If at least one spot was reserved for each team per class it would be mitigated to some extent.

We haven't run multi-car models within one class in the 3D3 enduros to date and I'm watching to see how you guys solve or work around some of the potential dilemmas. 👍

Depends if it's viewed as a team championship or a drivers championship.
If it's a team championship primarily, team regs per division sounds like the way to go.
If it's a drivers championship, than the fastest drivers should get in the fastest room, period.

I can't think of any real compromise between the two, except maybe a high limit, something like 3-4 maximum cars from one team, but it all depends how many teams have how many drivers, if we only end up with 3 drivers as the largest team, it's a non-issue.

Just my 2 cents.

Nah Dom, there certainly is a compromise :)

Yeah TimWRP sorry about the delay on the "Championship" section of the OP, just waiting on a couple more things to come together from the site and it'll be up right away.

The rooms will be solely decided by speed. What you brought up about the possibility of there being so many drivers on one team there's a lock out is very real, but I'm leaving it up to the drivers as I said, one team switch will be allowed so all I can do is hope people are self-regulating, if they see a lot of drivers already dedicated to a certain team, or rivals on one side, it'd be in their interest to jump to a less represented car.

Of course I wouldn't let things go out of hand, like 10 drivers choosing one car, but I'm really not worried about it, no one gets anything from crowding into one car, we'll all know the factors involved.

The main idea of this structure came to head because of the LMP mainly and the fact that there are only three cars. We're putting an emphasis on the team or manufacturers' championship over the drivers' championship, just a tad. So we're doing the best we can to make it as exciting and fresh of a challenge as possible for every one involved. So the compromise was, that instead of giving team points to every car on the field and having to cherry pick every one into teams to make sure it's an even match (not to mention having to deal with drop outs, driver changes, and no shows x( ) we opted for this system (which WEC actually uses now, only the top finishing car for each LMP1 team garners team points).

Here's the points break down as we're seeing it now -

This is TnJ's concept btw, and in his words:
One over-all classification table where the points scale evenly (like 2 point gap for the d1 room's first 16 and then 1 point gap for d2 16-32) and we give +10,+6,+3 bonus points for the LMP and GTE podium finishers.

Points scheme:
Code:
position	points
1 48
2 46
3 44
4 42
5 40
6 38
7 36
8 34
9 32
10 30
11 28
12 26
13 24
14 22
15 20
16 18
17 16
18 15
19 14
20 13
21 12
22 11
23 10
24 9
25 8
26 7
27 6
28 5
29 4
30 3
31 2
32 1

Example race result (two rooms of 16):

Code:
car bonus total
LMP 10 58
LMP 6 52
LMP 3 47
LMP 42
GTE 10 50
GTE 6 44
LMP 36
LMP 34
GTE 3 35
GTE 30
GTE 28
GTE 26
GTE 24
GTE 22
GTE 5 20
GTE 3 18
LMP 16
LMP 15
LMP 5 14
LMP 3 13
LMP 1 12
GTE 1 11
GTE 10
GTE 9
GTE 8
GTE 7
GTE 6
GTE 5
GTE 4
GTE 3
GTE 2
LMP 1

And to give more distinction to winners of the D2 room, wins/podiums should always be rewarded. D2 podium finishers will get half of the D1 podium bonus points.

2 car classes which would fracture that into 4 schemes:
D1 LMP - D1 GTE
D2 LMP - D2 GTE

What I'm suggesting is one point scheme and we just add value to class podiums with bonus points. The D2 podium being 1/2 the value of the D1 podium.

The main thing I *love* about this for CALM is that we end up with one classification table and everyone just mixed in like it is in the real world. And if you manage a miracle and take the over-all victory in a GTE car it pays off BIG-TIME, and at the same time if an LMP driver parks it in the pits and finishes 35 laps down they are getting a big penalty on the points table since GTE cars that finished the race are getting the value of finishing in front of them.

So It's like this:

1. Everyone gets points based on "overall" finishing order ranked from 1-32 as a base score.
2. We add bonus points for class podium finishers to put the top-weighted value back in.

Now this is pretty much where we're at with the points structure.

? That's not a compromise, that's the option I listed as a drivers championship.:p

I think it'll work just fine though Eddie:tup:, and you know I'd tell you if I thought it didn't look good. :D

Well, it's a compromise that the two championships are melded together through the use of the points score cut off and such mainly. Overarching themes and all that - man, I need to sle-... But yeah, mostly the genius of Buffalo Tim.

I'm gonna take a quick nap, catch you on the flipside.

Man, the 908 is so good in the rain..

Use TC on the R10.

The regulations show TC as being set to "OFF" but it's a typo, which I'll fix today. Traction control will be allowed.

Ahh, that will make rain driving much easier, lol. But the R10 sucks and i refuse to drive it. It makes me red with fury every time i do.. Lol that is the Peugeot and Toyota.

haha, really, give it a go. I'm gonna be driving an R10 myself for the series.

Registered in LMP class, looks good. :)

Btw, I tested the cars also. I don't see what motivates me to use the R10 =\.
Also the Peugeot and Toyota won't be using any turbo kits correct?

I think tony has a room up...

Just got the R10 might do a bit of testing with tony

I gave it a shot.. A bit better tire wear, but still understeer on turn in and oversteer on turn out that i cant tune out. quali lap times are similar, but late in the stint times are slower with the r10 for me by 1-2 seconds. It just doesn't suit me well.

New room guys as we made a mistake kicking someone haha

If you join just say ur part of pure as we don't know everyone....

Oh yeah, forgot to ask if those runs were done with 100% surface water and on racing wets, let me know.

Put your shocks to 6/4 4/6, if that's not enough, 7/4 4/7, etc.
It will go away eventually.:)

Aaaah sorry, I dont think I will be able to make all the races and will only know if I can make a race on sundays at late notice now due to work.

I was looking forward to this series but I think it best to leave it before it starts, if there is reserve spots available for this series i'll put my name down for that, if not no worrys.

No worries Paul, you're welcome for any race you can make 👍

Thank goodness.

Changing my "dibs" to the Citroen GT. :)

Team selection is OPEN

1. Log into your PURE account @ pure.gate19.net
2. Go to your profile page
3. if you're signed up for CALM you will see a new section (where CALM specific stats stuff will go) at the bottom

You will see team information there and a link that says "change team"

While team selection is open this link will let you change your team affiliation, once we close team selection that link will go away and your team will be fixed for the season.
