PURE | CALM - Hey, it's mixed class Le Mans endurance racing.

After further pondering and testing I think I've registered for GT prematurely, and instead LMP class would be more fun, so can you switch me over Wardez or can I do it myself somehow?

On a second note I was thinking could we run Nurburgring 24h as the german round as that's sort of the endurance layout of Nurburgring. The thought of going round and round the GP track with those rusty colours and headlights blaring on all the time for 2 hours isn't a pleasant one. Going on the north loop with LMP cars sounds like really good fun too.

OK8

done... though an FYI to everyone else you will have the opportunity to switch classes when I put up the car+team joining (Ended up a bit short on time this weekend but I hope to have that up today or tomorrow night at the latest ).

hah, well I'm letting you down lightly, but that's a no go OK8, sorry. The most important factor is that Nurb is so huge that you would hardly ever see any other cars.

Nurb GP/F is amazing, don't worry at all, 2 hours there is just as great as any of the other tracks we're going to. And the mixed class aspect will come in at full swing, traffic's going to be tight and a lot of fun through there.

Don't know what "rusty colors" refers to but, yeah, one of the better tracks in the game in my opinion.

But the tracks really picked themselves for the most part, all of them were decided long ago as being the best fit for this type of racing and the context of the series we're trying to emulate.

And Nurburgring full isn't the preferred "endurance layout" per se, it's just the one VLN runs, and that's the highest form of motorsport you'll ever see race the track for a serious round of competition.

The Le Mans series visited the Nurburgring in its GP layout quite frequently in the mid-first decade of this century, that's what inspired our choice.

How do we choose our cars? (Is there a link I missed?)

You can't yet? You can look at specifications to test the cars though :).

Thanks for letting me off lightly. I take every chance I get to race the nordschleife. Now that you mention it, traffic might make the gp track feel a bit more lively.

Just tried out the specs for the LMP cars and even with quite radical power limits they're still a hoot to drive. Really looking forward to Spa and especially Le Mans! 👍

We're still in pre-season testing. Within the next day or two more infrastructure will be up and car choices can begin. You haven't missed anything yet.

Room up for the next hour or so

Also, would anybody be able to dupe and send me either a Viper or M3? Can't find the Viper on the UCD after refreshing it 5-6 times for the life of me, and the M3 I currently has, has engine stage 1 fitted
Would be much appreciated!

Think the Vipers over a million in value Josh... I dont have one either..

I spent a few hours the other day looking for a viper, with no luck. I'll try again today, since I really want one :)

dibs :)

the M3 needs engine stage 3 to get up to the target spec.

If that's the case, perfect. But I'm pretty sure I had something on it installed which wasn't allowed, I'll check again later

Scrap that then, cheers! hahaha

Ran a few laps around Fuji and from the choice I originally planned for (R8), i'm having awful trouble with tire wear, as nice as it is to drive. But maybe that can be sussed out with a nice tune. Only tested it stock so far. But overall, I'm leaning towards the Z06 now..

Interesting... I find the audi to be pretty average on wear.

(nurF = 8 laps, monza = 10 laps)

Might want to try more tracks than just fuji before you make your decision.

Hey Doc, maybe a dumb question but... where/how are you getting those exact percentages on the tire wear? By that I mean if you are stating 63% you are being pretty exact. Am I missing something in GT that gives you that level of precision?

Very nice post, cheers for that. It must be the way i'm driving if i'm eating tires then. Will do some more laps later on a few more tracks and see whats what.

Pixel counting in photoshop... very tedious; but probably accurate within 1%. Would be a lot easier now that I got an HDPVR last week... those were done with a fixed tripod and digi-cam.

FYI, on those runs total times were < 2s apart and fastest laps were a 0.6s differential at monza and 0.4s at nurF.

And as you can see I did that before we brought in the BMW... but I've since tested it and it's pretty similar to the GTR.

You're welcome, I'll also have some base tunes up when I put up the car+team selection.

Wow, that's good (and hard) work. 👍

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to export some data from a replay in this game!

haha... Polyphony has always had a long "wouldn't it be nice" list. ;)

What would really be nice is if the replay analyzer tool was actually useful. Requiring you to use an off-line ghost (single lap) replay file kind of ruins the practicality of it beyond WRS style TT competition. (the MoTEC telemetry in GTR2 kinda set my expectations pretty high for what can be done in a sim though)

No doubt. They obviously pack a lot more information into a ghost single lap offline replay which enables the analyzer to function. I guess PD drew the line there because with a ghost replay they know the required data streams to capture is limited to local telemetry from a single car and a single lap. I would imagine at that level of detail an online replay would choke the system and the resulting lag would be stifling. Now if they had centralized servers that did all the data collection during the event and you could download the replay after the race was complete that would be a different story, but then that wouldn't be GT5.

Level 22 ticket, anyone?
Only 6-7 cars level 22, the Viper's aren't too hard to get. ;)

Damn you literally know everything :p. Hmm now how to get the ticket .

I might have one, if I do, I'll send it off to someone, and we'll start a duplication train. :D

If not, I'll send a message to someone that definitely does have it.(along with every other ticket know to man:lol: )

I have a level 22 ticket - add me and I'll send it, no worries. :)

I also have levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24 and Ticket 1000 :p
