My AC came yesterday and while it looks like a good looking PS3 graphics level game, it sounds and drives epic. An unbelievable level of detail coming to the wheel that feels eerily natural. Huge dead zone with the G29 but very easy to live with.

Learning some new tracks is a PITA but with driving pleasure like that, who cares. Just one small problem. I'm knackered in half the time I can play GTS for.

Regarding @kilesa4568
Hey people, the QM Exiles have lost one more soul :indiff: ...
Digtater is converting to the AC dark side, guess his driver name will be 'Darth Tater' !

Yes, unfortunately - my SR dropped from S to B as a result! Races weren't quite as clean as they were at Willow Springs....

The question's been sanctimonious somehow  - I also had one race there ( without qualifying ) and I second you. A bunch of madmen :scared:, was lucky though and got away without harm. Insanely more slipstream here than on Big Willow : Why   ?

I'll use the tried and trusted DS4 for GTS until it (wheel) gets some feel back.

;)

AC is for the wheel and very glad I bought it. Proper driving fun and very realistic but if I want to play longer, GTS and the pad fits the bill. Win win.

It's almost like they have to turn slipstream on because it's (part of) an oval track!

Strong slipstream on the full oval A race today - started on pole twice, and finished 2nd and 3rd, then started 2nd twice, and won both! Surprisingly clean races too, but I suspect all the mayhem was going on towards the back of the field.

 Yes ... oval needs slipstream ! And yes ... starting on pole hardly is of any advantage.

You're my Race C expert, so let me ask you :

Is there any relevant info in these fuel / tire wear factors in a way that you can plan your race in advance ? Or do you just hop in and see what happens - trial and error in the first race ?

You will find plenty of strategies discussed on the Daily Race Discussion thread, but most of those involve short-shifting - not an option for me as I use auto gears. So, I do as you say, just hop in and try it - but I usually use fuel 2 for the first half of a race, switching to 1 for the second half. This usually gives me a place or 2 at the pitstops, and I always change tyres as I find driving on worn tyres very difficult.

You will find that the faster qualifiers seem to manage to drive flat out for the whole race, stopping for fuel and tyres, and achieving fastest lap! It's not something I've ever managed, and I generally find that I finish 30 seconds behind P1.

The biggest frustration is getting stuck behind those that are fuel and tyre saving - they block everywhere to stop you passing, and if you manage to get past them you just come out behind them again when you pit, and you have to fight to pass them again!

Hello everyone
What a happy day ..... today is the first day of (ramadane) ...so no foods no drinks and no sex .....and no SMOKING :D .....from sunrise to sunset...and now in africa we have 15h30 of daylight so...
Expect those things for the next 30 days :
Slower driver.....( last year i did see my times go slower by 4 or 5sec )
****** mood .....as expect without my dose of nicotine
No daily races or quick matchs this year because of the ratting now in gts
Alot of crash not entirely because of the ****** mood but it just a lack of reaction and concentration
I can became worst than TRIPLESIX if you know who i m talking about in the 3 or 4 hour before the sunset...by the way i found out her new ID in gts and 1400 races and like 700 wins and......a ratting D/E ...so i guess the only thing that didnt change from gt6 to gts

You will find plenty of strategies ... to pass them again!

Well, first of all thank you @bone_tone for your summary. I've only done A or B races so far for their higher frequency - I'm aware though I should get into longer races with wear sooner or later. The next combo that suits me ... will be mine :scared: .

Hello everyone ...
... Thank you for the warning ... So no talking to goats huh ?
I think talking to them is still OK....

Could end like this :

Being a smoker myself I completely understand, Reda. We ought to be thankful for these 5 min breaks between the races  !!!

Needed three cigarettes yesterday along with my races on Tsukuba. It's been alien time and my personal highlight was race 3 with four of the top 10 drivers on the grid. Two of them ran away while I got into a very close 6 car battle over four laps, very exciting, and though I came in on 8 only, I was able to keep up at least and keep it completely clean on my side. Proud of :) ...
Noticed again that I prefer cleanliness over rank, I'd rather lose a spot than act questionably ( mostly :D ). I am ...
short of competitiveness :odd: ? !

Luckily the C race was my DR/SR saviour track yesterday - Mount Panorama! Ran a few races there (including one with two of the top 10 rankers in it :scared:), and managed a couple of 2nd places, and a 3rd. Started low down the field, but made up places from those falling off track/quitting/running off penalties/slower pitstops.

DR up 3200 points, back to A, and SR back to 99 :) The only problem will be the return to higher penalties - think I'll try to slip back to B.....

Don't say it loud, bad boy. You intentionally dump your rating  ??? [ shakes head in disbelief ]:lol::lol:
I've got used to getting the occasional 1 second penalty over the last couple of weeks, it's the thought of going back to the 10 second ones that makes me say that - they're so difficult to recover from

In reality, I'll just keep on racing, and take whatever comes my way :)

With my vast experience of 26 race C's...:D

Drop the fuel mix to 2 or 3 and short shift (depending on race pace) when you're in a draft, then back to 1 (still short shifting slightly) for closing gaps and red lining for the pass. It's all about the refuelling undercut in the stops.

If I'd done 27 races, I might have been able to offer more advice.

I've done nearly 900 races now, about 30% of which have been race C - should get the hang of them sometime soon

Didn't have to worry about dropping my DR - a few races at Brands has made that happen for me, plus the 10 second penalties given to me by rammers have got me close to dropping SR too :yuck:

I've only tried a couple during the first part of career mode. Magione and Vallelunga I think they were called. If you've never tried AC, I highly recommend it for wheel users. It's not really a game as such but if you love driving for driving's sake, the feedback and physics is worth every penny.

@kilesa4568 ..by the way i forget to ask you about AC . What do you think about the tracks ?? Imola mugello zandvorf catalunyia
I agree with @kilesa4568 on this, it's not much of a game but it is very, very good for doing hot laps. I haven't found anything to rival the feeling you get through the wheel with Assetto Corsa, but I haven't tried Project Cars 2. PCars 1 put me off that series. I also haven't done much of the racing in AC's new version of single races since they were updated, bit I did read they'd been improved.

Edit: I probably should add that I'm only going on PS console games.

I actually finished the career mode in AC way before starting Gts with a T150

I was shocked at the AI in it. I stupidly put them on the highest skill and that was the last I saw of them as they left me for dead! Soon dropped it to medium and even they push hard. Wins aren't guaranteed and it's a real culture shock from GT.

I imagine the full track roster is in the special events section and I haven't looked at them yet.

I like how the career mode is set up with starting low and working up the cars so it's a good training ground for me. Getting used to keeping heat in or cooling the tires is proving to be an art form. Especially with me in an early M3 challenge sliding everywhere.

Hey Exiles, you might have already read about my bad luck on Nürburgring GP over in the Daily Race thread.
Did one of you race there ? How were your races, how were you doing ? Uh it haunts me  ...

I didn't race Nurb, concentrated on Brands and Alsace instead - Nurb not my favourite track anyway, and I hate that turn 1.....

Turn 1 is wonderful ... if you're alone on track 👍.
Man I got destroyed yesterday like never before. After being punted and spun into the gravel for the third time, I hesitated and thought I maybe should just stop racing there. But then it was like 'No there must be a way to survive this - just be clever'. I was wrong, it's probably all about luck. After five races I was B / C :irked:.
I've done pretty good so far with picking favorite car / track combos, not racing during holidays etc. etc. but it often gets disappointing when I look forward to day x ( Sunday night usually ) and they pull out crap events then.
Yesterday was meant to be a first step leaving this event picking strategy ... not so sure if it helped :boggled:.

Ah well, I've been down there a couple of times - at least it means you usually start well ahead of (and can stay well ahead of) the mess! Keep smiling :)

@kilesa4568 he man did you leave GTP ? Have not read anything from you in a while. Or were you hiding in this thread ? I also have AC but am afraid to start it... for the reasons you stated.

Still here. Just chilling in the background as there's been very little to talk about lately. It seems to be all doom and gloom around here (GTP) with the penalties, bad mannered driving and lacklustre daily race choices being the hot topics.

I'm not sure what you mean about AC? If you like driving games, you will love AC on a wheel. The driving experience is unbelievably good.

I agree, GTP has been somewhat negative lately but it's mostly the same people not having it their way? I dunno.

I did some of the races at Nurb GP. I was the only one I saw in a NSX and did okay. Avoid T1 stuff and the rest panned out, eventually. Seems everyone feels the need to cover the inside, but then they go wide, but then have the inside for T2, but then again go wide on exit, then mess up T3. A noticeable repeated pattern. So, undercutting them became my tactic.

The NSX has a turn in moment of very slight understeer approaching mid corner, then it's fine, and has great corner exit. The street car version on the other hand is... more of a handful.

Reading the title of the their threads was as far as I went. The petulance is often strong in those types of threads. Not my scene.

I'm being selfish and enjoying my GTS with the pad and AC with the wheel. I'm happy.

I actually did a few dailies the other day that I enjoyed. GT86 at Suzuka. No qualifying to start at the back, pedestrian lap times and toying with the nutters. No real interest in advancing the rank until the game matures.
