As Samus points out, we don't know for sure. But I do know that their business model is based on selling many millions of units per title. The way they run the office, how they spend money, what they spend money on will all be based on their previous successes, not on selling 2 million copies. Had they game sold like expected GT7 would not even be in the conversation at this point, they be too busy finishing GT6 and pumping out the "quantum leap DLC" they promised including regular VGT and other cars along with "monthly tracks".

Everyone likes to call PD/Kaz liars because content delivery is lagging while technically they have lied, the whole truth is they are simply responding to the market, which has spoken and said loud and clear, "This game blows, we aren't buying it". I think they are smart enough to realize at this point that no amount of additional content is going to have any effect on sales and so things that cross over easily to the PS4 will be worked on and everything else will be put into the corner to collect dust.

The Senna content is a point of pride and personal honour for Kaz that's why we're getting it. The other stuff, not so much.

Personally... I think they've had the content schedule ready for ages, they wouldn't have made the initial announcement without knowing what cars they were getting hold of to scan etc,, which ones they had ready etc.

But with F1 cars it's notoriously tricky to get much time with them unless they are in private hands such as the Lotus. Also there is the potential snag that Kaz referenced in the initial announcement that McLaren hold Ayrton's image rights from 1988-1993, which are of course his prime years. Any retrospective of Ayrton has to include his McLaren era, and though I don't think McLaren are a tricky company to deal with, especially when it's essentially content that would promote them as well as their most successful driver and someone who Ron Dennis was especially close to, image rights are tricky legal things. That would have consumed time and resources. The light at the end of the tunnel being that we've already got his 1988 helmet and suit in game, which suggests some rights have been licenced to PD.

What I think we'll see this month -

- The Lotus obviously.
- Interlagos GP circuit and kart track
- A Senna-themed go-kart, either his actual one from the late 70's/early 80's World Championship exploits, or a themed one ala the Red Bull one.
- A McLaren (I think the '88 MP4/4 because of the suit)
- Seasonal events at some if not all of Monaco (Cote d'Azur), Monza, Interlagos, Nurburgring, Silverstone, Brands and Suzuka. All circuits ingame that Ayrton raced at, if not quite in the configurations we have ingame. Big prize money for gold times.
- Suits and helmets, both historical and connected to the Senna Foundation.

I hope for more, but I think this is realistic given the established content on GT6.

I don't believe rights to cars and rights to driver likenesses are in any way similar. FIA/FOMA or whatever they are/were very strict on car licensing and usage, I've never heard of them being uptight about racing suits.

I'm pretty sure they put the McLaren suit in because they couldn't include the car, and kept the Lotus suit back because they knew they were including the car later.

PD painted themselves in a corner by talking about a January update, which became a February update, which became complete silence. They DESPERATELY need a community manager that isn't Kaz. Kaz might be a good ambassador to the auto industry, but PD needs someone that will communicate with the people that buy the games, which isn't Nissan management.

Expecting PD to do something really awesome with this is only bringing youself into disappointment, especially them screwing up the sound of the Lotus. Even though it's Ayrton Senna, I still can't see PD doing good with the content.

But I'm sure lot's of folks here has their expectations low, due to PD's record...

All i'm expecting is Senna's car. It doesn't need bells and whistles to be awesome.

Look at it this way, PD is working. They are doing something. Getting licenses and contracts, modeling and developing things take a long time...they are doing it. I have no doubt about that.

The only problem is that KAz and PD does'nt like to comunicate with the gamers, unlike other developers. So by that, we are left clueless.

Everyone was dead sure nothing would happen May 1st, comes may 1st and we get (confirmation of) an awesome car and confirmation that there will be Senna content in May.

No. It's a car in the GT series, therefore we must hate it and lambast PD for screwing it up even though it hasn't come out yet, and even if it ends up actually being pretty nice, we must take it for granted and NOT thank PD for their hard work and respect towards Senna's memory.

- ~175-200 new cars is a bit more than "a few"... Plus 7-ish tracks and some preexisting tracks got time/weather treatment
- Adaptive Tessellation happened
- Physics (I.e. Body roll and compression) was obviously revamped
- Lighting reworked
- Large catalogue of visual upgrades

That definitely takes time, considering GT5 took 5 years, only adding ~250 cars and quite a few new/updated tracks, and completely new engine introducing damage and roll-overs, day/night lighting transitions, etc. (all on odd hardware, might I add...) That timeframe seems reasonable.

Not being able to release basic online features found in games since the early 2000s, holding back content that has existed in some form in past iterations, and showing existing content, giving it a timeframe to launch in, only to not fall through and not make any further mention of it is, however, completely unreasonable.

Except Kaz never was or is a community manager. PD as a whole does not have a community manager at all, only Kaz and various Sony people telling us things.

For me, the funniest people are the ones who go "Screw you PD, I'm leaving for this other game!!" and funny enough, are some of the same people who say PD don't listen. Why they feel the need to publically announce this to the same devs they say "don't listen" is beyond me but still hilarious, because Publicly shaming works with everything (nevermind the fact that nobody outside the sim racing community knows nor cares really).

PD got my thanks 5 months ago in the form of my hard earned cash out of my wallet. I don't need to thank them for what they promised me when I bought their product. They should be thanking me for not selling it and taking away a potential new sale because they are failing to deliver on many of their other promises.
