As for today,I just lay down to watch television,all day(free weekend yay),So today I just watched television instead of internet,due to a little feeling that I had a couple of weeks back.
Well,frequently in anime there are series that are hyped out,stuff that internet hypes to make it look better or more interesting,and when you actually get to see these kind of stuff you soon realise that is not as good as people hyped, this brings me to MLP,which internet keeps hyping up since its first emission,eager to find an answer to this question I started to watch kids TV(quite silly I known but its some sort of psicological pathology that I have)
So there I was watching the Simpsons,family guy,american dad,futurama(it was fox,too much for kids tv),also bob sponge,phineas and ferb(awkward name)and The Penguins of Madagascar.
Watching this stuff made me get into a realization:the writing on child's cartoons are actually more clever than more adult shows(Homer moronic behaviour is just unreasonable,and not funny anymore,the same can be said about the dirty jokes of family guy and the silliness of American dad,although this one had some clever jokes now and then,and futurama which is the only thing that is kind of passable).
This brings me to the the proper child shows,and something funny happens there,the more lower the target audience age is,the more clever the show gets,it sounds weird but is true(putting Sponge Bob aside which is pure BS),The penguins are actually quite clever,meant to be for ages from 8 to 12(I think),there are some clever jokes now and then and the characters and stories are actually quite amusing and likeable,then there's phineas and ferb which are not only better than all the adult stuff,but cleverer than some of the more mature than I've seen recently,the thing about it is the cleverness of its jokes,these jokes are not silly and the characters are also really appealing(except when they sing that's the awful part of the show).
Which finally brings me to MLP,and it has to be said,MLP is by far better and more entertaining than any other show out there,the whole "cult of following" is well justified and the share number of elements that makes MLP awesome is quite long,I mean:
>Character design (best characters since I saw House a couple of years back)
>Animation (modern and stylish)
>Art(well for a girl's show it has excellent visuals and design)
>Writing(every episode in this season,even silly episodes have its moments)
>Concept
So I guess that it pretty much sums it,the amount of MLP followers increases constantly(ED getting 10'000.000 since the show started last year),the amount of MLP memes and references is huge ,the show has the best fans,it has a large amount of fanfics and art design around it and is probably known in pretty much everywhere by now.
This is kind of off topic,but I just wanted to get it out of my system,every time there is a hype about anime stuff(Haruhi,Lucky Star,Clannad,Death note,Hellsing and Naruto,just to name a few)there is this uncomfortable feeling that is either not as good or rubbish(if you don't like it),while MPL is just awesome by it own merits(it so good in fact that I stopped to see anime all together just to watch more of it,although this anime season is kind of dry)
