Another -1F morning. And my driveway has melted and then all refroze at the base. Had brown trousers moment trying to leave for work when the car wouldn't stop sliding toward the road. It stopped just shy of the roadway.

Another 22C day. :indiff: Christmas looks alright though, 29 next friday, we find out later today what Christmas day should be. :)

I'll take your xmas weather over mine for sure. What's 29, like 80-ish? I could deal with that since the high here is only 25F for tomorrow, and for the rest of the world that's like -2 or something. It's better then the 7F (-14C) it was the other day though with about a -20 windchill.

Well Christmas day at this stage will be 34C, which is around 95F? Lucky we got a swimming pool. :)

This time last year I was living it large in Melbourne in temps of about 30C...
Hit the beach on Christmas day...
Barbecue in the evening...
I want to go back :grumpy:

Pretty much what we'll be doing if the weather sticks to the forecast. :)

What luck. :) As for today, 17 and raining. Monday 21. :indiff:

@ Thiele: You mention 22c like it is a bad temperature, when in fact it is probably the perfect temperature. You don't want weather above 28; it's horrible. Thankfully, global cooling has meant that the previous summers we've had are now on the back-cycle.

It has been freezing temperatures now for a month which is unheard of in the 150 years of measuring theses things in Sweden. There's also been snow for the same time, equally unique. It's now quite possible that the snow will stay until March or even early April.

Observations today, -7 and snowing

But how does Frosty the Snowman come and visit? And how do Santa's reindeer survive the heat?

Frosty the Snowman? :P We survive, so I guess they can too.

Christmas eve is now forecasted at 34 too. :)

*gets the shovels warmed up* Looks like my annual trip up north to Angola, IN could be a little snowy. :ouch::nervous::scared::grumpy:

The strangest thing about the area I live in is that even though I am out in the countryside with fields of green around, today is the first proper day of fairly serious snowfall with quite a lot of packed in snow for us.

Leicester can be a strange place at times, avoiding everything that the rest of the country has got or getting everything that the country hasn't got.

Just waiting for the sun to bake the snow away for a bit, before I start driving. Now I have to time it right that it melts it to drive, but before it re-freezes...

Never heard of Frosty the Snowman?

And he can't survive. He had to go with Santa in the end so he wouldn't melt.

You've at least heard of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, right?

Or about the year that grandma got run over by a reindeer? I guess that's a positive to a hot Christmas. No hit and run reindeer sleighings.

Four inches of snow is a lot compared to what we usually have here. There's also a three foot long icicle hanging off my house just above the front door. It would be risky for someone to stand beneath it :scared:

Forecast for new years eve: 37C (99F) andd new years day: 39C (102F)

Definantely going to the beach. :)

Been in bed with a cold for the last few days.
Got up today to find ice covering the inside of my back door.
Got a second duvet and went back to bed.

Holy crap

New years eve, that's about 110F. :)

You have 110, I have -9 (which apparently will feel like -40).

Don't worry Australians try to burn their country down every single year regardless of the weather... the best we can hope for is there's not a repeat of Black Saturday... that would not be good.

If it stays below zero for another week (which the forecast says it actually will by a large margin) it will be the longest streak of sub zero days in Stockholm since they started measuring these things in the mid 18:th century. It's just day after day of -10 C. In the southern part of Sweden they've had wind as well which have resulted in 4 m high snow banks.

This picture is actually from the danish island of Bornholm which is just off the south coast of Sweden.

The snow is all gone :(

But I'm definitely investing in a cheap snowboard for next winter, and maybe some ice grips so I can actually walk up the hill behind my house!

It's funny how people can't seem to live without snow. I don't think I could live in any climate that snows.

Well it's 35C at the moment, should get up to around 40 this afternoon. Tomorrow is going to be a stinker, possibly even too hot for the beach. :boggled:

So the final forecast for tomorrow is:

Dry, windy. Afternoon change. Min 29C Max 41C (about 105F)

41C, a catastrophic fire danger and possible thunder is actually quite a scary mix, especially on new years eve with a lot of cars on the road and people on summer holidays. :nervous:

Seattle has been right above freezing, so in some areas, there's been some snow, while some areas just get really cold rain.
