Tonight has the potential to be entertaining...

I assume like any good midwesterner, you're going to stand in your garage and watch the weather if the sirens go off, right? Because when we get a tornado warning, the first thing I do is open up my garage and stare out at the horizon and say something like "that sky doesn't look good".

Exchange garage door with patio door. Other than that, spot on.

It's a bit warm, our heat index is right around 98 with an actual temp of 95. It doesn't get this hot in Northern Michigan and almost no one has air conditioning. I have four ceiling fans and four standing fans going, but it's just blowing hot, humid air around. I busted out the thermometer yesterday and it was a balmy 91 in my living room. My toilet tanks are sweating, and my garage floor is wet from all the humidity. It's pretty wild, especially since, like 7 weeks ago, we were buried under a bunch of ice, and my house was 45 degrees.

I know it's hot in most of the eastern US, but the fact that it's hot in places where it typically doesn't get hot makes it so dangerous.

Also, I had to work yesterday morning at like 2 am for a failover test. I was working with someone who was in Park City, Utah and they told me it was currently snowing. We both had to laugh at each other's weather.

I forgot to post this on Saturday.

As a weather nerd, that's impressive. In one of the weather groups I'm apart of, someone posted this picture of what it looked like from the ground:

Look like they ended up confirming it was a derecho, which is by far scarier than most tornadoes in my opinion since they're huge, sustained, and go on for a really long time. Temvik, which looks southeast of Bismark, had gusts measured at 101mph. Bemidji (how do you even say that?), Minnesota measured 106mph. There are unconfirmed reports of 115mph gusts even during the event.
