My God! The UK Government has raised the heatwave threat to level 3, yes LEVEL 3!!!!

Wut? Does anyone know exactly what that means? Perhaps not getting drunk and falling asleep outside is on there somewhere. ;)

TB
Another round of warming groceries in the freezer. High tomorrow is -9F, windchill of -35F. Low of -17F.
In stark contrast to the end of January, it's currently 93°, feels like 97°.

Because Fargo.

If I remember correctly, level 3 means daytime temperatures of 30 degrees and night time temperatures of 15 degrees, for 3 days or more.

I bought my American-style fridge freezer with water cooler and ice dispenser just in time for this *smug*

Not getting as much rain as I would like, but the cloudy nights/mornings with some rain in far parts of the valley seems to be keeping the temps around 100*F for the time being.

It's been quite hot all week in the north east. We were spoiled with a cool spring and a Brazillian early summer where it was hot, but it rained every day so it really wasn't that bad.

Right now, 93F. Heat index makes it feel like 106F. The humidity is way to high. Not fun at all. :(

Over-reaction much...?

It's lightning out like an SOB and half the street is without power or half power. Gonna be a rough one.

EDIT:

Nearly 8 1/2 hours later it is still stroming. Continuously. It has not stopped. The thunder is crazy.

So, I've spent the better part of a day avoiding downed trees and things; is anyone else having such problems? Has the power gone out, and you've had to resort to a mobile browser? Basements flooded? All of these have happened, worst windstorms in months, or years.

If your in the Niagra region of Canada and Western New York, it was a mess up here.

We peeked at 26-27°C here, today. It haven't rained in about a month I think, so it should soon be coming... hopefully.

Thereabouts, give about two hours or so... Well, 15 minutes by Concorde, I bet.

I'm by Buffalo and it stormed literally for 9 hours straight here. It did not stop. Probably one of the longest storms I've ever witnessed in my life. The radar maxed out in severity of the storms several times.

We went through the same storm. In my area, though, there was not much rain; it all came down in about five minutes, horizontally, and soaked everything. I was in my garage. I couldn't hear the people talking beside me without yelling at the top of our lungs. I admit, I've never seen a storm like that.

Yeah it was weird, for like 4 hours it just thundered and put on a nasty lightning show. It would shower for like a minute then stop, and then around 10:30 or so that's when it really started to open up. That storm was something else. Some of the loudest booms I've ever heard. I was seriously waiting for a tornado. They said winds were up between 70-75mph or so, that's insane for New York. I mean you can see by the picture I posted that is was nasty. Those clouds were like that for hours. Never seen clouds that black with a light sky right next to it. Crazy.

Again, you got the same storm we did, but, later. This is accounting for travel times, we got the heavy rain and such at like 6 PM.

Mid-high 80's and very humid. Dark gray skies filled with dark clouds. Rain expected, they say. Well, dur... Just look outside!

What time did it finally let up for you guys? I think it let up here about 2:30 or so in the morning.

That cloud. :scared:

I didn't actually take the photo, a friend did and posted it on Facebook but I saw the clouds and when he posted, all he said was and I quote:

"Um, wow.".

That picture was taken at about 6pm. It was bright and sunny all day without a cloud in the sky.

I was legitimately surprised there wasn't a tornado. I kept an eye on the radar waiting for a hook echo.
