I will not be attending anymore !
Sorry to hear that Rich. Maybe have a break for a few weeks and then reconsider. You might miss us. ;)
All the best anyway. 👍

The next scheduled wet round is at Fuji - perhaps you could have a look at this track -

I could. Fuji is better than Silverstone classic in that the water does not pool quite so much, it's more even with less aquaplaning.

So perhaps...

Race length = 15 laps

Time/date
13:00 start time
10x progression
Default date
Spring

Weather
4 slots - Light rain / Medium cloud / Light cloud / Medium cloud **
15x progression

It's slightly random but in general it starts wet then stops and slowly dries followed by a further shower with the track drying again - with hopefully no more rain. The sun should be just setting to the right of Mount Fuji as the race ends, with some nice effects,

If your wet race tyres begin to overheat mid race due to the track drying, drive off line through the remaining standing water, it will cool them prior to the further rain. Clever. Just leave some for me to drive through.

**I'm still tweaking this (to prevent fast track drying) and will edit this post with the final result when done. Possibly a move from summer might do it, I'll try.

As promissed before, here's the onboard video
Not exactly a bright sunny day. As Brits we automatically assume that everywhere else gets better weather than us.

How does it work. Do you pay for a certain amount of time or a set amount of laps?

I would do.MON and WED races for ages if races start at least 30 min. earlier.
I think that Sick is usually at work until near race time so earlier starts are not possible at the moment.

Perhaps @AndreasR could run some shorter sprint races during his earlier session? That usually starts around 7.30.

Anyway at the moment - PlayStation Network is currently under maintenance

As I´m using this hour for practise (recently the only practise I do), using this time for races would mean I would have to delay my own practise which I haven´t got the time for. So not possible. Sorry :guilty:

Perfect @IBZ6L20VT a 1.45min lap, that's about what I've worked to for my timings below.

The suggested settings I posted above for Fuji have had a bit of an overall to improve things. The date has been changed to give better lighting at the end of the race (and slower drying) and another weather slot with faster progression has been added to give shorter spells of rain.

So my final results are...
Race length = 25 minutes (no pitstop)

Time/date
Default date
16:00 start time
5x progression
Spring
(from default)

Weather
4 slots - Light rain / Medium cloud / Light cloud / Hazy
15x progression

The weather pattern is repeated approximately 1.75 times but it'll look slightly different because of the time progression. It shouldn't rain for too long but wet the track enough to make it interesting.

There's a slightly random transition but in general it'll start wet then the rain will quite quickly stop and the track slowly dries. Followed mid race with a further shower with the track drying again. Hopefully it shouldn't be raining but with the sun just setting to the right of Mount Fuji as the race ends, with some nice effects,
It's quite a complicated thing sorting out this weather. No wonder Michael Fish got it wrong!

You possibly haven't got time to test them @Sick Cylinder but they do work. It's not too wet for not too long. ;)

Thanks - that is great! We will be using these settings!

Splendid. 👍
I think you'll like it!

We just need a pit window from yourself for those 15 laps. If it helps it'll probably begin to rain around lap 8 or 9.

*Remember not to change tyres* and cool them if required in the water.

I will skip the mandatory pit stop and change the race to 30 minutes to simplify matters - presumably the cars will start on wets?

Note to all Drivers - we have 2 rounds left in the current series. The next series "Group 6 v Group 5" has been postponed until next year and the 1997 "Trans Am Mustang" mini series has been cancelled - an event using this car may be scheduled later.

On Wednesdays the "Group 6 v Group 5" series has been postponed so that we can make early use of the new pack - I think the content is too good to delay the 1970 series until my originally scheduled date in 2019!

The new "Historic Le Mans" layout will be used for two rounds (8th and 15th August). The two 24 hour events - Daytona and Le Mans will be tackled over two rounds creating into the night and into the day races.

The cars used for this series by 6 Pro Drivers are the Porsche 917LH and Ferrari 512S (car change at mid point in the season). The cars used by 10 Am Drivers are the Porsche 917K and Ferrari 512M (car change at mid point in the season). The colours / race numbers will be assigned before the start of the series.

I do not know if you will be able to race on the new "Historic Le Mans" layout without buying the pack - I strongly recommend buying the "Season Pass" or the latest pack.

Note - the start of this thread will be updated after the current series has finished - until then here is the poster and track list. It is hoped to make round 3 (Silverstone Classic) a wet round - subject to successful testing of settings.

Yes they will start on wets because of the initial rain.
I'll have to run the sequence again over lunch time to see if it still works using 30 minutes instead of 15 laps. It was quite close timing but may still work without further rain or it going too dark. Perhaps might need a little tweak. I'll let you know later.

Daytona and Le Mans will be tackled over two rounds creating into the night and into the day races.
Want me to have a look? I'm getting quite into this power to control time and weather. I'm feeling omnipotent. :p

The water on Silverstone classic does tend to pool in certain potions of the track.

Can we have Brno sometime? A good fast circuit.

@Sick Cylinder further to my post above - changing to a set 30 minute race did unfortunately mess up the timing somewhat, the lighting changed and the rain started again. So could I suggest a 25 minute no pitstop race instead? It would work much better overall (better than before actually) and the countdown timer at the end adds a couple of minutes anyway.
Hoping that you agree I've slightly modified the settings above to reflect this.

It'll go a little darker near the end of the race, twilight in fact, but not dark.
The changing lighting and weather conditions really get to show off SMS's Live Track engine at its best.

Everyone will need their wipers and, to be on the safe side, probably their lights button mapped.

If you don’t have them mapped they work automatically based on light and rain conditions.
Oh do they. Jolly good. I didn't know that - probably because mine are mapped.
Make's sense really since not everyone will have a free button.

I'm trying to find the windscreen washer option next. :dopey:

Actually I always found that the lack of bugs (and by that I mean the natural insect with wings) on the windscreen is a bit of a let down taking into account how far they went with other realistic aspects of the game.

I think it would be great. During the pit stop the crew would get rid of them or you would have the option of washing them down with the windscreen washer.

There is an enable dirt on the windscreen option somewhere in the menus. Do you have that switched on? Although I never see it build up to any great extent. Maybe it does on the rally cross cars.

I think I have everything on but I’ll check next time.

Cheers John.

Fuji's 1965 to 1974 layout looks like it would be a great one to add into SMS's historical circuits repertoire. Fearsomely fast!
