Absolute tosh, comedy of errors and probably the worst race I've ever had! Several little blips lost me places, one big blip damaged my suspension badly, at the same time as being served a drive through, missed the pit lane next lap, struggled to keep the veering car on track, got back around to the pits and then got disqualified for speeding in the pit lane. Race over. Sorry for the poor show :(

Edit - I should mention this all happened in 10 minutes!

Wow! That went badly... But you weren't the only one with such luck. I can't remember this many race-ending incidents at once ever since I first joined Sick's series.
These oldies are quite twitchy and moody, and racing them on the limit for 30 mins is quite difficult. I find it better to treat them very gently not to be murdered by them. Better luck next week, I'm sure.

Here's my stream. I'm posting from my phone so I can't put the usual race and replay markers, sorry

Eventful race for most.

I had an excellent qualifying, proving that the car can go fast when you get it to rotate. (I actually lifted and lost 0.2seconds on the bus stop as I was beating my PB by 1.1 seconds and was afraid of losing it all and consequently the potential pole).

The race was ok-ish. Pushed hard for ten minutes, keeping both @Tavilha and @Friday_GTRP at bay. A tad too wide and touched the grass on the exit of one of the corners and I lost control of the car. This is how unforgiving this car is.

Fell into third, then @Friday_GTRP had a similar situation to mine and spun. Got into second and couldn’t match @Tavilha’s pace. He was extraordinarily fast and steady.

After my incident the spell was broken and I struggled to find my rhythm so I decided to chill and protect my second position, waiting for a mistake from Tavilha that never came.

Again, hats off @Tavilha, supreme drive.

I was a bit hot and bothered!
My "race room" is a south facing extension with a rubber topped flat roof, so even with a fan going it gets a bit toasty on these hot days of summer!

I was sort of doing alright until i found myself rapidly closing in on Andreas (slowing for a penalty?) on the start/finish line. I moved off line but my braking was compromised with the rears locking resulting in a crash and damage. This was as far from the pits as you could get! I got it around about half way but crashed again on the banking and decided to retire - and cool down.

Strangely my cars recently have felt kind of floaty and jittery at the same time. Certainly not nearly as good as during offline practice. So...
I gave my connection settings a bit of a overall late last night. The PS4 has now got a fixed IP address, the MTU figure is corrected and I've opened all the ports required by PSN. Plus one I found that is exclusive to PC2. So hopefully that may improve things. If not I'll stick the PS4 in the DMZ of the router.

Anyway after 2 bad races I've come to dislike Daytona, thank goodness we haven't got to race around there again. Oh wait, what!

I saw that I have to use the Ferrari 512M, even if I'm in GT Class... I could have used the Datsun 240Z instead of Ferrari 512M!

Use of the Datsun 240Z for 2 rounds in place of the 1973 Porsche 911 is a one off arrangement agreed for @IAMDOODLEBUG because he didn't have all the cars needed for the Championship. Also, this car doesn't have any head lights so he is using it for 2 of the daylight rounds.

@Harsk100 - you aren't in the "GT Class" - the "Am" Drivers race 4 of the 10 rounds in the slower GT cars and 6 rounds in the faster cars - 3 rounds in the 917K and 3 in the 512M. If you look at the table below, you will see that you are scheduled to drive the Ferrari 512M (number 142) in Rounds 2, 3 and 4, then the Ferrari 365 GTB4 (number 39) in Round 5.

As we will be racing in the same track next week, I am open to suggestions for which car to try :)

DD - Please stick with the Ferrari 512S (number 7) until Round 6 when you switch to the Porsche 917 LH. Although we are using the same track next week we will be qualifying at night then racing from night into daybreak - hopefully this will be challenge enough.

One of the ideas with this series and the settings chosen was to give the feeling at some rounds of doing a drivers "stint" in a car to create a more realistic simulated endurance racing experience. At our "Sebring" round the time changes quickly, with a long night period to simulate the original 12 hour race, but part 2 of our Daytona and Le Mans races simulate a typical night into daylight stint. The two wet rounds simulate short showers and in testing it briefly rained at the start of the race and again before the end. The foggy round at Historic Spa should provide a new challenge as the weather will occasionally feature thick fog simulating patches of poor visibility at random parts of the circuit.

Hopefully this format of multi-class racing will work well over the course of the championship - the "Am" Drivers will need to take their turn at being what @joedakiss called "the Donkey". If it is successful the plan is to run another multi-class championship (probably next year) majoring on the GTA cars with the "Am" Drivers providing extra excitement with some races in much faster cars (917 LH and 512S) which they didn't get to drive in the current championship.

DD - Please stick with the Ferrari 512S
I think maybe he meant for his video Sick - since he's done one with the 512S. Perhaps a slower GT car maybe DD?

Placing the faster drivers in the slower cars would be interesting. Although they'd probably still win! :boggled:

Edit : Also perhaps Harsk hasn't/hadn't got all the cars. That's why maybe he mentioned it.

I have the impression that there is a bit of confusion while starting. We used to have that one sec distance which was replaced to "behind". When we are doing rolling start which should be the right behavior? May I suggest to have no overtaking until the first sector time appears?
(has nothing to do with my strange start yesterday :D:banghead:)

Oh, and sorry @IfAndOr - yes it was a penalty I didn´t want to get.

Exactly that. I meant for my weekly video.

Apologies @Sick Cylinder, my post was poorly written. I had the idea of posting this the whole day in my mind but never found the time and just wrote it in a rush.

So, any car in particular?

By the way, I would personally enjoy more racing the GT cars rather than the prototypes. But that’s me! I always preferred to race in underpowered cars.

It would make an interesting race to have the Pro category racing in inferior cars.

Apologies from me - I thought you wanted to change car! The most logical car for your next video - if you have time to do one at Daytona - would be the Porsche 917 LH. I briefly tested the cars before the series, but my driving is not accurate enough or fast enough to accurately compare the 917's and 512's.

We have the Ferrari DLC pack coming up soon after the end of the current series, so the plan is to do a short series (probably 4 rounds) in which the Pro Drivers will have slightly slower cars than the Am ones.

I ran a quick test before lunch today.

In the right hands, both cars are capable of setting the same times at this track.

However, after just 4 or 5 laps I was doing constant 1:41.5 laps with the Porsche. I had the idea of setting two videos at the same time with both cars. I was trying to replicate a similar lap time with the Ferrari and after 7 laps I gave up because minor mistakes got me far from achieving the delta time.

With these two cars there is a handling window between terrible understeer and too much oversteer. This window in the Porsche is bigger. Therefore, I found easier to drive or achieve fast times with the Porsche. If you are able to get the Ferrari to rotate without overkilling it, you can achieve very fast times.

There is a slight chance I am not going to make it tomorrow in time for the race.

I have a late meeting 100 miles from home. It’s down to the traffic.

I’ll let you know with as much advance time as possible.

Just thought I would show you guys my set up.
Its outside in a home made shed.Built the rig out of 1 sheet of MDF.At the time I mainly played F1 so built it in the style of a F1 1 cockpit but now only really play PC 2 so think I'll be building a new one in a GT style. The F1 cockpit was dead easy to make and although a bit tatty and rough was really comfortable and served me perfectly for last 12months or so .So next time we race you can now imagine me in my shed elbows out F'ing and jeffing and my own errors!!! Would be great to see some of your set ups so I could maybe pinch a few ideas for my new rig.

I don't see the Ferrari 512S in Ferrari car choice, I don't have it in the game...

You are scheduled to drive the Ferrari 512M number 142. If you haven't got one you can use a Ford MK4 number 26.

I don't see Ford Mk4 on car choice. I only see Chevrolet Camaro Z28, Datsun 240Z and Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona.

I had a very nice race with @Friday_GTRP. Followed him closely in the first 15 minutes, then he made a slight mistake that I took advantage of. The Ferrari does seem to have a slight advantage on the slower bits of the track and the Porsche seems to be a bit faster on the high speed straights.
Even so, to the end of the race I lost a bit of time with traffic, where it was very risky to overtake, and Friday almost closed down the gap I had slowly buit up. In the end we were again very close together but managed to barely maintain the lead.

My footage below (sorry, I'm sending this from my phone again and no race and replay markers; and also sorry for not having looked for other battles as I had to leave because of baby trouble and let the replay roll on its own)
