The worst modelled thing in the game since 'Nessie' has to be the nissan option stream Z... its so pixelly I cant even look at the damned thing...

Yes a car so painfully ugly I had to call the suicide hotline twice to stop me ending my own life!

The only thing ugly about it is the rear tho? Cut off from the Doors to the front it´s exactly the same as a S12 Silvia, isn´t it? Well I own a S12 but its in a Garage not nearby, but I´m pretty sure they match... And my Silvia is a pretty car!!!

Oh dear, first off those RWD coupes were still sold long after the Golf was launched in 1974, there were even new ones added since so the decline of sales and their (temporary) demise cannot be blamed on just one model (maybe the image associated with those coupes was the biggest part of their demise, especially once the eighties had arrived and flared trousers were replaced with shoulder pads).

Secondly the Golf didn't introduce the concept of FWD hatchbacks, the Fiat 127 and Renault 5 were both preceding it by a couple of years but yes it took off by storm once combined with German build quality and a truly modern shape at that time (compare an original Golf with most other mainstream car build in 1974 for context and maybe you can see the impact it had then) penned by Giugiaro.

It rescued Volkswagen which was struggling at that time and regarding a certain Adolf, do we really need to go there to make a point?

It is only logical that those Coupe´s were sold a period time after the release of the Golf...I do can blame this only Model for the demise of these Coupe´s because the goal has always been for the golf to be the rival of those (from advertising and articles easy to find in the net).

Through its gaining popularity from what you called 'Germn build quality' the other Manufacturers where to let go of the RWD Coupe Models to swim with the stream and compete with the Golf. You cant compare any other mainstream car of the time with the Golf is not true, because for example a Kadett C was fairly better a quality car then the Golf, without a doubt. (You can tell today because there is double the amount of Kadett C´s still on the road or in shape than 1st. Gen Golf´s)

I never said VW introduced the Concept of FWD Hatches, but they where the first to be successfull, but that was through a molesting kind of advertisment...

...regarding certain Adolf, no we dont have to go there, I just said he was the founder of the Brand wich is a fact. And according to their policy today it is likely to see where this policy has once started.

I simply stated my dislike for this Brand.

Just a sign of the times partly (the groovy seventies versus the efficient eighties) when an understated fast hatchback was deemed cooler than a hairy coupe or because it actually was very good and fun to drive.

And a Kadett C better quality than a Golf? Come on, the fact they are seen more now might just be because they look like classics unlike the Golf which still just looks like an old car and which true classic status has yet to come (it's merely seen as a youngtimer whilst the Kadett C is seen as an oldtimer, despite coming from the same era which says enough I guess)
I've driven a Kadett C Coupe a couple of years ago, it certainly was fun and amusing but quality wasn't the first thing that came to mind.

Ofcourse it's an image thing (partly, as I said myself) which might explain its succes but the Ford Capri was just as much an image thing hyped by an equally genius marketing strategy.
That doesn't mean I buy into it, and the only true German 'peoples car' is the Trabant, mainly because there was nothing else the people could buy.

Majority of people here are easy to fall for the image thing though, a news article clearly stated that the have been VW people trying to spread the word of Opel beeing broke, and that they would be interested in a possible take over... that´s more than just marketing strategys, if anything like that ever happenes I wouldnt know what imma do!

lol I dont trust any mainstream media sources either, said article appeared in an independent online news-letter called hintergrund.de, pretty trusty source as they research a lot, and like I said, are independent. But I find it pretty hard to say a filthy behaviour like what I mentioned was just 'business', yeah I understand this is common today, I´m just asking myself why. Are they trying to build up a total monopole? and what for? If that is the way the operate it should be made public instead of saying: ah thats just the way it is...naw

OK...so we disagree. It's all good, but I have worked on plenty of 5th gens' that can be made to sound great. Must have been a v6 which I agree is very disappointing. The mopar fan thing was a little sarcasm. As far as fuel pumps in the fuel tank, almost all fuel injected pumps are.

But it is always nice to know there are other chevy(bowtie) fans around.👍

I don't actually HATE Mopar, just not a "fan" of it, still like the Charger (the old one) and Challenger, not much else. Even so, I still hate the fuel pump thing, I don't see why it can't just be placed by the engine or somewhere other than the gas tank, it's just an awful design.

Actually I hate Chevy (well maybe hate is a bit of a strong word, more like, dislike I suppose), I'm a Ford guy (lol), I love my Camaro though, but probably because its like a family member to me, seeing as it's been in the family longer than me (1990 when it was new, and I was born in 1992, and since, it now has 246,688 miles on it ).
