Worst You've Dealt With Online...

Why do people in track day lobbies always want to turn things into a race? I was in a nurburgring lobby a few days ago driving around in my Diablo GT when some knucklehead decided to chase me in a F40. He would pass me after a few turns since he cars was upgraded while mine was stock, only to stop and wait for me again for some reason. He would then repeat his actions and he kept hitting me every few turns. If people want to race, then they should go to the appropriate lobby.

Last night I went to about 5 or more cruise rooms & all them were garbage. There was no order from the hosts & there was chaos. I was lucky in the end the last one I went to was the real deal.

Same happens to me, and I still don't know.

Well, this is not the worst I've dealt with online, but today I experienced extreme lag at its best.

I was hosting a 500pp lobby around 3 o clock, and the lobby fills up quickly. There were 14 people there, 12 Americans, 1 Canadian, and a German dude. So we had just wrapped up a race at Willow Springs, and the German guy won by a landslide. But for some reason, it took about five minutes to reconnect back to the lobby. Then I realized that the German dude's connection was TERRIBLE, and all 14 of us were waiting on him.

Here is the worst part. Just when I finally reconnected, everyone in the room had disappeared, except me and the German dude. And I had to wait 30 minutes for another guy to join my lobby. This may not be the worst I dealt with online, but this is definitely the most lag I have ever seen.

@The87Dodge
Was the guy lag bombing all over the track?
This is where having the map on really helps... because you can see it (if you happen to look of course).
Sometimes if you're a host, you just gotta just take the hit... when you see someone lag bombing all over the map... retire the race, and ask them to leave or kick them.
It's worth to sacrifice one race for yourself... when obviously if you don't, then you might lose the whole room and any races thereafter.

Yes, he was bombing all over the track, but he somehow managed to win by a landslide. I couldn't stop the race because it was an 8 lap endurance at Willow Springs, and we were almost done with it.

You mean you didn't want to stop the race. I mean technically you could have, and all of those people who wound up dropping wouldn't have if you had.
I'm not nagging on you, I'm just pointing out how having the whole room vacate could've been avoided by some "sacrifice of the host". Yes, it stinks, but that's part of what the host is expected to do... sort out the trouble. :( And that's how hosts become popular... by being willing to sort out the trouble like that to keep the room going.

Also, if he didn't start lagging until you were almost done with an 8-lap race at Willow, that seems to indicate that his lagging didn't necessarily have anything to do with his winning with a significant gap.

BTW: If he was so far out ahead, how did you see him lagging late in the race?

I watched the replay, and he lagged the entire race. By the end, he was lagging more and more.

@watermelon punch, you were in the club room yesterday when that stupid 🤬 troll entered the room. That was annoying if I say so myself... :irked:
You mean when I found you guys racing the Hudson around the Bus Stop in circles at Daytona?

I heard some foul language on the mics 👎 and then got DC'd.
But I mean I didn't actually leave because of the nonsense. I was DC'd against my will.
I could barely make out what was being said. I don't have a mic/headset... so I think the mic volumes are lower than the sound effects for me. I often have trouble making out what people say on mics. (Though other times people come through TOO loud. :boggled:)

Lots of network problems this weekend generally too I noticed. :yuck:

It was rather funny, actually, to hear how stupid that troll sounded

New story. I have been dealing with a lot of this recently.

Because of the fact that I was born here in the states, I never really developed a strong accent like my parents have (I apparently sound British in some cases).
So when I was in a 550pp Sierra lobby and began speaking, the host in the lobby (he sounded straight up middle-aged) then asked me:
"Bruh, is you really asian?" Noticing my PSN ID.

I replied with my usual "Yeah."

A moment of silence follows until the same guy says "(Racial expletive) you sound more like a white boy than a yellow kid."

:grumpy:

"Yellow kid", huh.

"Stop lying about yo race, (racial expletive) (another word of donkey) (term for a female dog)."

I just remained quiet because I literally had no comment.

After the 1 lap race, the host then says this golden line:

(What it sounds like)
:dunce:: "AY YO PEOPLES. NAW DAT WE JUS SEPARATED THE REAL FROM DA FAKEEGH, IT TIME TO KICK ALL YALL FAKEEGH PEOPLE OUTTA DIS (term for female dog). NAW I KNOW YALL ALL WILL BE-A-HATIN, BUT I DUN CARE, BECUZ I DUN GIVE NO (f-bomb), HOLLA HOLLA HOLLA HOLLA."

I get kicked afterwards, followed by 75% of the lobby. :indiff:

I made 2nd place on that race too...

@Grandea GTR I have no idea why you were kicked from that room.
If someone asked me if I was {whatever ethnicity} in a race lobby, I would leave immediately, before they ever had a chance to start speaking to me in such a manner. :odd: 👎
Definitely I would expect anyone to leave a room in disgust after being spoken to that way.

I don't care who you are... You are a human being that deserves respect. And you don't have to put up with that kind of nonsense while trying to play a game.

There are plenty of people out there to play with who don't behave in such a crude manner. Your standards can be a lot higher! 👍

Don't people sometimes ask what ethnicity someone is because they themselves might be from the same place and have something in common?

I'm sure it does happen... but the question is... how often is a question about someone's race completely benign?

And would they ask in the manner (with incredulity), that it was described above?
And without preamble?

Wouldn't most people get to know someone a little more before launching into putting someone they don't know at all on the spot like that?
I generally assume that someone doesn't really want to be put on the spot with personal questions in a racing lobby.
The classy thing to do if you want to ask a personal question, is you do so privately, where the person has the choice to divulge or decline the question without an audience. If you're truly curious for amiable reasons, you should have no problem taking that extra moment to send a private message to make the connection.

Append:
Heaven knows, plenty of people take the extra time to send all manner of garbage in the PSN private message system.  :(

I went online today...

- Found a cruise room on Monaco with a 70mph speed limit and the requirement to keep to the right at all times.
- Joined expecting people driving in a civil manner.
- Selected the Sloth-mobile (Miura) and went onto the track.
- Got rammed instantly by a chrome pick-up truck on the wrong side.
- Guy blamed it on me and proceeded to curse and express how much he hates the middle east even though I'm British.
- Drove up the hill to the Casino Square.
- Found a bunch of disguising chrome chav-esque cars ranging from late 90's Citroen's to an early 2000's Ford Focus.
- Driven by a bunch of kids who wouldn't let me through and started to hit my car over and over.
- Bunch of kids then proceeded to discuss drugs and deep female relations on the mic, with one stating he was 11.
- I keep driving trying to ignore the non-stop cursing.
- I encounter the host in a matte red Bugatti who was parked and hit me as I drove past intentionally.
- I say "Sorry to bother you, but can you please be a bit more careful, thank-you"
- Kicked.

Well then... Better luck tomorrow.
