GoPros Spotted in Latest GT Screenshots: Possible New Feature Tie-In?

One of the most impressive features of the Gran Turismo series has always been its replays. Ever since the first game way back on the original PlayStation, Polyphony has made an effort to give the replays a feeling of authenticity. Racing is fun, but GT games made watching the race after the fact entertaining in its own way.

We’ve already seen hints that the replay mode may be gaining some visual and functionality improvements in GT Sport. GTPlanet user TrdScionxB2 first noticed GoPro cameras in the interiors of the Group B Subaru WRX STI (above) and the BMW M6 GT3. While the latter’s in-car cameras are likely tied to that car’s attack on the Nürburgring 24 Hour race, the Polyphony-designed Subaru is another matter entirely.

Gran-Turismo-Sport_2016_08-17-16_002GoPro signage also features heavily on the newest dirt track, Fishermans Ranch. Could we be seeing the popular action camera company tied into the afore-mentioned replay mode? It’s too early to say, though we think it’d be an inspired option to increase the realism. Not only could it offer another viewing angle during replays, it could provide an option for other players to digitally ride-along as you blitz the ‘Ring on a hot lap.

Gran Turismo Sport releases November 15 in Japan and North America, November 16 in Australia, and November 18 in Europe.

Hey all I care about is the the Inside Cockpit views are realistic. The Camera is on a Floating Gimbal and Not Hard mounted to the Car body.
If GT Sport Doesn’t have a floating Camera option, then this is just more Arcade Garbage.
Ever version of GT has had Horrible In Car Views.

The outside World Does NOT Shake when you are inside the car looking out.
why is it so hard for a Sim Developer to not Understand that!

Give us a realistic in Car view, or don’t call it a Sim!

I think the vibration translating into camera shake is immersive. The reason though that you don’t see it shake, is your own ‘floating gimbal’ being your neck and head absorbing the direction changes and vibration to some extent. In rally it’s worse, just look at an in-car view of any WRC race to see that the driver and navigator being shaken about the whole time.

Stick you head up against the frame next time you are a passenger and moving along an interesting road, then you’ll see the world’shake as the vibration hits. You’d even get it to some extent on the big roads if you are travelling fast enough – ie: above 50 mph.

Well that’s the point isn’t it, you can either simulate a camera as it would behave and show the world or you can simulate what a human sees with our built-in stabilisation. Most games struggle to get it right, some make things too stable and sterile whilst others go mad and have the screen shaking all over the place like a camera bounding around. Looking at you, Shift 2.

What I’m seeing, if this is an accurate prediction, is the dawn of people making their own short films out of Gran Turismo, much like people do with Grand Theft Auto and other open-world games. As long as the game allows you to stick Go-Pros anywhere on the car or in the environment.

I remember with GT4, people were writing up stories and using photo mode to enhance that mental movie. This could easily be used as an extension of that to create things like race dramas.

It’s actually a very clever marketing idea. Make interior replay as if it’s from a GoPro, have the logo in the corner or the splash screen at the start. Very clever.

I think this could help a lot more, it could have better overall replays, working with another professional company
