Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Supra Heroes

The latest new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is on its way to consoles around the world, landing on your console when it ticks over to midnight on Friday morning.

This bonus game mode is available to players who’ve completed the GT Cafe career, offering a set of five events to tackle across the week. Four come from the existing World Circuits races, while a fifth “Special Event” is created just for the week, all indicated by a special green UI element. You’ll collect not only the prize money from the races but additional rewards the more of them that you check off, adding up to around 1.3m credits each week.

While some Weekly Challenges can start off with pretty low-ball races, it’s quite a robust set this week and begins with the Jimny Cup event at the textbox-breaking Willow Springs International Raceway: Horse Thief Mile (thank goodness it’s not the reverse course). You just need either model of Jimny for this four-lap race, which has no tuning limits and offers 40,000cr for taking the win.

Next on the list is an event added in the recent game update, as the Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 visits Road Atlanta. This one’s a three-lap race, and requires a 4WD road car or professionally tuned car from a Japanese brand; the “600” of the name refers to a recommended Performance Point (PP) value for a fair race but it’s not a hard limit. 50,000cr awaits you if you take victory.

There is though a cap for the next race, with the Race of Turbo Sportscars series requiring a car no higher than 700PP — one of two such events this week. As the name suggests, you’ll also need a car with a turbocharger (marked with a “TC” in the basic car stats) to take part in this five-lap race around the Suzuka Circuit. You’ll earn 70,000cr for your troubles if you win.

Our Special Event this week is up next, comprising a single model-name race for any generation of Toyota Supra road car. This covers the Mk3 turbo, the Mk4 RZ, and both GR Supra variants, and again there’s no limit to tuning here. We built a GR Supra to 700PP (to double-duty it with the previous race) and it was a little bit of overkill, but even so the AI are a bit rapid on the straights at Watkins Glen’s Long Course so keep an eye on your mirrors if you want the top 100,000cr prize from this five-lapper.

That leaves us with the traditional World Touring Car event as the highest-value challenge this week, in a ten-lap race of Laguna Seca in the WTC700. This is the other event with a 700PP cap, though it also requires Racing Tires, and it’s populated by Gr.4 AI machinery which you might be able to outpace (taking care of fuel and tires) with whatever you used for the Turbo Sportscars event. Victory is worth 110,000cr.

Completing any one of the five races will award you a 100,000cr ticket, while finishing any three gives you the 200,000cr ticket. Note that these will need redeeming from your Gifts section if you want the credits (which you probably would). This week’s top prize, for finishing the full set, is a Six-Star Roulette ticket which can award 500,000cr or 1,000,000cr, or a Brand Central (including Invitation) car worth 500,000cr or more.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday September 12.
