UPDATE: Gran Turismo Sport’s Next Update Arrives May 30 With Goodwood Circuit

It’s that exciting time of month again where Polyphony Digital is readying the next version of GT Sport for our consoles.

According to an announcement on the official game website, the next update — likely v1.39 — will arrive on May 30. That will follow from a short maintenance period as usual. The announcement reads:

At the following time, we will perform maintenance on the ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ servers. A new game update will also be available after the maintenance. Please note that during this time the online services, including [Sport Mode], will not be available.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

The timing of the update is in line with previous content updates. These usually appear at the ends or beginnings of months, with few exceptions. However, we’ve yet to see any of the other usual update activity that would confirm this.

Generally the Polyphony Digital studio head, Kazunori Yamauchi, will Tweet a teaser disguised silhouette image showing the update’s vehicle content. There’s been no recent activity on this front — although much of Japan has been on a ten-day holiday this year to celebrate the new Emperor.

There are some clues on what content may be arriving though. A website database glitch after the last update revealed the existence of the Goodwood Circuit in the game. We’ve seen a similar glitch in March which prefaced the 1.38 update itself, so it’s a good indicator.

We’ll bring you more information as we get it. As always, remember that you will not be able to save your game once the maintenance starts and until you install the update, so save from the top menu well in advance.

UPDATE: Since we originally published this post, Kazunori Yamauchi has indeed Tweeted a teaser. It’s a slightly unusual one in that he’s opted to tease a circuit, by way of a small portion of the track map:

If you’re not familiar with the Goodwood Circuit, this is a portion of the circuit at the St. Mary’s corner, confirming the track for this week’s update.

Yamauchi’s post also confirms that there won’t be any additional vehicle content in this update.
