GT Sport Daily Races: Race Week

Gran Turismo Sport 1031 November 23, 2020 by

It’s all about racing cars in this week’s new set of GT Sport Daily Races, as players have a choice between three different types of racing machine.

Race A this week is a combination we’ve seen pop up a couple of times over the last year or so. You’ll be heading to the Autopolis circuit in Japan, a track that the creators hoped would host F1. That’s a pretty scary prospect, but you’ll be taking it on in slightly slower machinery in a four-lap race.

The road car-based Gr.4 category is almost entry-level racing. These cars are essentially stripped back road machines with race-grade suspension, brakes, and tires, and a little aero for show. For this week you can choose any one of the four front-wheel drive models in GT Sport: Audi TT; Peugeot RCZ; Renault Sport Megane; or Volkswagen Scirocco.

There’s a wider choice in Race B, with any of the Gr.3 cars available to you. These cars have very little in common with their road car brethren, often amounting to a body shell and engine configuration, and the aerodynamic parts are very much not for show. You can choose any of the cars from your garage, for a four-lap race of the Lago Maggiore GP circuit.

The final race is a one-make affair, for a car that’s a race car in name and in design but which very curiously fits into the N200 road car class. Mazda’s Roadster Touring Car is essentially a circuit racer based on a first-generation MX-5/Miata, in the mold of a Gr.4 car but with far less power and weight.

With its road car status in mind, the Roadster uses Sports tires rather than racing items, and this week’s race features a huge 16x tire wear multiplier. That said, tire strategy shouldn’t be an issue, although the false start check might well be!

These three races will run through to Monday, November 30, when another new set of three will replace them.
