@ vid 1: “okay, you’ve killed the car now get out of it!” Man where do they get these crap drivers from?

  2. AERO_HDT

That Ferrari is over 40 years old and it looks phenomenally fast. 300km/h without barely breaking a sweat down the main straight at Monza. Wow.

As for the sound, well everyone since day dot has had issues with PD recreating the decent bassonic rumble of larger capacity engines. It was inevitable that PD got it right sooner or later. But my only question is, have they managed to accurately replicate an engine under decceleration (compression)? The sound of an engine under full throttle is very different from one that’s downshifting or when a driver is using compression braking.

Just a thought. From what I hear so far though, very impressed!

  3. Pete_k

Has anyone heard anymore on the weather effects? As most are aware dynamic weather was confirmed, but im very surprised not to have heard even a whisper about it at gamescom?

  4. burti35

please put (upload) all GT 5 videos to “dailymotion.com” too. PLEASE ! We can’t open “youtube” as country. Please hear my voice and upload all videos to “dailymotion.com” video watching website.

  5. ferhound psnid

    @SEIDO463
I think that 8 cars on track are premium models
16 cars on track are standard models.

This I wanted to say all this time. Sorry for my bad english.

  6. Alex

fantastic engine sounds. rumbles woo. awesome

i will be keen to see the difference in sound . graphics and feel of the cars that were in prologue compared to the newer refined but same models in GT5.

also Ive been wondering are the cars that are in prologue going to be premium models in gt5 . if so does that mean there are really only 130 ish “actual” new premium cars . i no they will add ALOT to the prologue models in gt5 but still. seams a little short.

  7. 123456789

I don’t care how stupid this sounds LOL
But, I hope that in split screen mode, the cars react the same as they would in Single Player.

OHH! And I REALLLLLY hope they sort the engine sounds out. So that all the cars sound like they should and not like Tesla’s =D =D =D

    BRING ON GT5 !!!!

    1. TokyoDrift

Ummm, the centre of the steering wheel is chrome, and hence it has a mirror finish. So, you know, it reflects the scenery. Simple, no?

  8. Minihulkster

Loving the new engine sounds. I wonder if PD has re-recorded the engine sounds of the standard cars.

  9. llllllllllllll

if u don’t like this game then go play forza or try to make ur own game !! alots of people say bad things about it , it’s simple , don’t like the game don’t come here and comment ……….. u think it’s easy to make a game ? .. u can’t even make a ps1 game !! …

  10. Sigmaviper11

He’s not ordering PD to do anything. He’s pitchin out ideas. I wouldn’t hate on him so hastily, considering PD goes through website forum after website forum to see what the fans want, in addition to what direction to take, and what ideas they could use to expand out to a greater audience without losing the current aspects. So throwing up some ideas is a good thing. Doubt if it’ll get implemented in GT5 unless its as an update, but in GT6 it could very well be possibility.

    1. rydeen

Me 2!XS Im trying 2 unlock alot of cars in gtpsp and gt5p so that i can play with them in GT5.

Wake me up when september ends…

  11. Berlino Bear

Always hated Monza. 3 corners and 3 chicanes. There are so many better tracks to include than Monza.

    1. neem'

I think it’s more about the history, I guess. Then again, Monza has more overtaking opportunities than a lot of modern circuits like the Nürburgring GP circuit, for example, so I’m happy to see it included. Also if you think back, in GT4 there were different turbo tuning options which suited different types of circuit; smaller ones for tight, technical circuits full of corners and big ones for high-speed circuits… I can’t think of that many circuits where I’d choose the huge turbo option for massive power, but I can see myself going for that set-up for Monza, and as it’s not a massive circuit like Le Sarthé, fictional like HSR or boring like any of the ovals we’ve been treated to before, it might actually be possible to be interested for long enough to finish fine-tuning a car for a high-speed circuit. Maybe. I might just stick to Tsukuba.

  12. sander997sc

i’d rather see a skyline or lancer or even a impreza drive this lap becouse they look way better. thanks for the negative commends becouse i know they wil get there

    1. 5.0l-V8-S/C

Settle down maxiboy, I admit the new one isint that flash but they are awsome to drive. Get a proper sti ra on a windy man theres not much that could be better.

    1. danielwhite74

16 cars and damage have already been confirmed and seen, this is therefore an old build. You people will find anything to complain about, even if what you’re complaining about isn’t even there. Sheesh.

    2. TokyoDrift

danielwhite74, if you had any idea what you were talking about, you would know that the build being played at Gamescom had been downloaded from their servers specifically for the event, and represented the most recent public build yet seen.

Also, 16 cars and damage have not been seen together yet.

  13. Yaycandy69

Polyphony Digital and CodeMasters make the best racing games from Gran Turismo to Grid to DiRT. Best 2 racing games will be Gran turismo 5 and Grid or Grid 2

  14. Kenny

carl.vain ….thank you for your contributions but shouldn’t you be on the forza support site? I mean seriously, stop the hating! GT5 will be the world’s best virtual car museum. I’m sure that camera angle you desire so bad certainly doesn’t make you a better driver. For all those other fans of GT5….WE can’t wait for 11/2/2010….,in the mean time, smoke them if you got’em!!

  15. Alpha

GT5 has made my life easier in the past five years.
Knowing it’s future presence made me keep on going.
Life has been hard, but GT5 has made it easier in a way.
Only God knows what I could’ve been today if it wasn’t for the Golden title that lights up eternal darkness.

    Thank you Kaz,

    Alpha

  16. Fran90

Rasmus, out of all your 10 i think no. 4 is my most wanted! cant stand the way its so rigid! Everything else with this game though is amazing!!!!

  17. DemonBlade

This is definitely encouraging in relation the quality of the sound. This is one aspect that has always lacked in GT and other games have moved the standard on such as Supercar Challenge. Bear in mind that all the sounds we are hearing are being recorded on digital camcorders etc and not direct from source, so once we get the game and can get to hear it properly through amplifiers with 5.1 DD I’m sure it is going to be far better than it does on any of the videos we are seeing and hearing!

  18. Rasmus

Nice, the sounds are definitely improved. I have big faith in that this game will be the greatest driving game ever.

However, for it to really accomplish that, here’s some things that are so far unconfirmed which I’d LOVE to see:

    (in no particular order)

    1) Now that the modeled cockpit for standard cars won’t be in the game, I’m still very much hoping for some sort of generic, black, boring-but-still-working cockpit view for the 800 standard cars. It’d mean a lot!

    2) If #1 is not possible, make sure to include a decent bonnet/hood camera. :)

    3) Rain! However, if it’s in the game, we probably would’ve known by now… unless they surprise us later on. Dynamic weather changes would be cool too, especially in endurance races. Snow is not necessary, how much racing actually takes place when it snows?!

    4) Please make the chase view cam less fixed and rigid. Something like in GTR 2 or rFactor would be preferrable. That just became so much more important now that we’ll be seeing no cockpits for the standard cars.

    5) A small thing: great addition with the skidmarks on track. But then, make sure they STAY there throughout the race.

    6) Qualification and standing starts :) adds so much to the realism.

    7) 16 players/AI drivers on the track at once, in both A-spec and B-spec mode.

    8) A livery editor… which we probably would’ve seen by now if it was in the game.

    1. Rasmus

      oh, and two more points:

      9) Ability to adjust max. steering degrees for wheels like the G25 – driving an F1 car with 900 degrees of lock-to-lock rotation just isn’t realistic.

      10) Ability to play around with more than just one car in photomode, so you’d be able to make setups like in some of the 66 screenshots – for instance, that picture with the Ferrari, Ford and Jaguar. Would be epic!

    2. F.G.

You sound like a right git. I think the guys at PD know what they’re doing when it comes to racing games. Who are you tell them what they should and should not have? How many million selling racing sims have you created? That’s what I thought. So why not shut your pie hole and just enjoy the game when it’s out.

    3. Sigmaviper11

multiple cars in picture might be a possibility. On the post with all new photomode pictures, people noticed a banged up VW Golf IV while an M3 graced the foreground.

    4. Nato_777

The problem with the chase cam is that the car is fixed in the center of screen and the track moves. This feels totally unnatural and is horrible to drive with. I do wish PD would fix this, although it’s not too big a deal for me as I would never actually race with that view anyway, but it just kind of looks amateurish to me as it is and that’s not good for Gran Turismo. I think there have been enough complaints about it for Kaz to take notice and do something about it. At least for GT6.

    5. Nato_777

Kaz has already said there won’t be any cockpit view for standard cars for GT5 not even a GTPSP style black border one. Very much agree on a decent hood cam to compensate.
Kaz has also ruled out a livery editor for GT5 but said it’s being looked at for GT6.
      Let’s hope GT6 isn’t 5 years away!

    6. Rasmus

@ Nato_777 & Sigmaviper11: Oh, okay. Haven’t been paying THAT much attention to the GT5 news lately, but thanks for updating me. :) All the other points are still relevant IMO.

@ F.G.: I’m not telling them what to do or ordering them to do this and that. Read what I actually wrote in my post before criticizing. My post is merely ideas, things they IMO should do to improve the almost perfect game even more. If there is just a .1 % chance that what people write in here might influence what PD choose to spend the last month or so development time on, why not try?

    7. TokyoDrift

Wow, F.G., bit of a git yourself, no? Somebody lists some ideas that would improve the game even more and they get jumped on by stupid idiots like yourself. Nice.

    1. Carbonfibre

Why is there an alarming amount of comments saying better sound? Better than what exactly? GT4? That’s very demeaning.

Is this all based on the one distorted drive-by of the GT40? I don’t understand.

  19. NBH

The engine sounds sound deeper but it also sounds like it was overloading the microphone which can give the impression the sounds are beefed up a bit.

What I thought was interesting was the fact that they could keep the power down and do doughnuts in the middle of the track, I always found it hard to do that in Prologue.

  20. TokyoDrift

Nice, but not the prettiest car in GT5, nor ever made for that matter. Some of you will just say it’s great because it’s one of Kaz’s favourite cars…

    1. Bernd

Tokyo, I have a 1:16 scale model of that car, it’s a real beauty. But I’m also sure, they will be very difficult to handle with all driving-aids off, they have almost no downforce compared with today’s racing-cars

    2. Maxiboy

Having grown up watching Speed Racer, I have to disagree with you. Race cars of this era are my absolute fav. These are what race cars should look like.

    3. HugoStiglitz_420

you people gotta lay off. TokyoDrift is right. It’s a legendary car yes but the reason it’s seperated from the other legends is 1-bcuz it’s new & 2- bcuz Kaz liked it when he was young. wait til we get the list of standard cars & then you’ll understand what we’re saying. there’s no doubt many crucial cars will be left out

    4. HugoStiglitz_420

@SEIDO463 Man am I praying you’re right I just wish they would announce that. It really would silence most of us cockpit view ADDICTS concerns just to know that but I don’t see why not

  21. David (PSN: KopparbergDave)

Definitely improved car sounds, really throaty and rumbling, I likes!

I also like how the car’s shadow can be cast on nearby cars, I’ve noticed this in a few other vids, it may even be there in Prologue but I’m not sure, but very nice graphics all the same.

All the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place and I’m so glad to see a good handful of decent F1 tracks in this game. I LOVED the GT Academy demo and was surprised at how sweet the Indy track was to drive on after it seemed pretty dull when it hosted the real F1. Only unlocked the F1 2007 recently in Prologue and it’s a revelation, can’t wait to get my hands on GT5, and if Spa is really in it then I might just burst with racing happiness!

    1. Cadabena

Yup, shadows on other cars were there in GT5 Prologue. They were even in the first DiRT back in 2007 I remember. What is special though is seeing the car casting shadows on itself, like the shadows of the window frame on the steering wheel, and shadows of the wheel arches on the tyres.

    1. Denur

That DUDE had no sound to drive by and did not hear that he needed to shift shift shift. But yes, it is horrible to hear. :D

    2. Rasmus

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. SHIFT, for Pete’s sake! Doing this is real life would practically destroy the car. It’s hurtful to watch, even though it’s just a game :D wouldn’t have hurt that much if he’d been driving a Hyundai or something.

    3. FlareKR

Maybe he was deaf, lol, the annoying Bravia demo banner popped up in front of the instrument panel at around 4 seconds in. For God sakes, I’m 16 years old and a drive a manual shifter (only one in school) and can drive better than a lot of those crazy dunce heads out there. Still not an excuse for experience, I know.

    4. Andrew

He was recording the sound so he couldn’t hear it while he drove. There’s already enough distraction with loud music and chatter from the expo forcing into his ears anyway, and people walking around all over the place, but the ad on the TV blocks the view of the HUD. So he can’t hear and can barely see. It’s not as easy to judge speed based purely on sight like we see in the video.

    1. danielwhite74

16 cars on-track have already been confirmed and seen, this is therefore an old build. Oh, and even with 4 cars this would be hugely better than Forza; that game was just painful.

    2. ICEMAN_ZIDANE

Drew: yes you are right , if i see a new video the game looks better every time
ferhound : I can’t find any words for you , i think you are 10 years old or you are a forza fan boy , normaly i write a long story about GT 5 vs Forza to explain the fanboys that GT 5 is in a other category but after reading your comment i know that you are 10 years old and i don’t need to write a long story

    3. Nato_777

Not an old build, as was reported that this was the very latest build (still just a demo though) downloaded just prior to GamesCon.

    4. smthrlr

Why is it that every time I see a new video from these shows, the person playing can never keep it on track for more than a turn or two?

    5. SEIDO463

      @ferhound
I think that 8 cars on track are premium models
16 cars on track are standard models.
I’m not sure, just a guess.

    6. rocketcaron

ICEMAN_ZIDANE, I would love to hear the long story.

I’m 38 years old and have been playing full careers in both Gran Turismo (1,2,3,4, Prologue and demos)and Forza Motorsport (1,2,3)and then some GT-R and Gran Prix Legend (yeah I’m that old!) and will do the occasional trackday.

I play all my driving games with a racing seat and proper steering wheel and on some occasions just sitting on the couch with a regular controller.

Now for you to state that Forza is ”painfull”… I mean, I need to hear your reasons for hating it so much. I suspect you had some kind of preconceived idea about it and did not put much time into it.

Its a very good driving game.

    7. SZRT Ice

@ferhound: Ever thought that some races might be low scale, and others might be bigger? 16 cars is not necessary for every race & anyways, I thought it was 16 cars “online” that was announced? W/e… I’m more concerned with “Human” intelligence then the artificial… Online for this game should be amazing. Looking forward to it.

      ~Ice~

    8. rocketcaron

Oh sorry, danielwhite said it was painfull… but you stated GT5 is in another category and sincerely I hope it is. But we just don’t know that since we both have not played the final version heh?
