GT5’s Australian/NZ Release Date: November 25th

Before any of you “Down Under” line up at your local game stores on November 24th, take note: Gran Turismo 5 won’t actually be released in Australia or New Zealand until November 25th, according to each country’s respective PlayStation websites. Of course, taking time zones into consideration, we’ll all be getting our hands on the game at roughly the same time – just be glad this rumor was wrong!  Thanks to all who sent this in (…and yes, I’m delighted to have the opportunity to post this video again)!

I called it over a year ago – Thanksgiving Day!

Ok sure, I called Thanksgiving Day last year, after Amirs cryptic posts about birds and feasts. But it turned out to be correct.

Excellent news! I just got back to civilisation after being away camping for 3 days – first thing I did was check here for any news of a release date. So happy it’s in November.

I am flying to Adelaide for Christmas and will be away from my GT5!

If any kind Aussie could drop off a PS3 and a copy of the game to my hotel room it would be appreciated. I’ll even let you rip into me about the cricket. A lot.

    Ta.

Thanks for the actual release date. I thought it was on the 24th of November.

I will be asking the EB staff tomorrow or today.

It was the America’s cup that made this song famous but the funny part was they had the band on Good Morning Australia the day of the win and asked them how it felt to have their song the theme to one of the most successful sporting events in Australian history. Colin Hay (I believe it was him) replied “didn’t know till you blokes called us this morning, suppose it’s okay”. Epic fail at a chance to market the band, which never had another hit again.

First us Australian’s get represented in GT5 by the worst 3 cars we’ve built, and now we get represented on GTPlanet by the worst song to ever come from our country :P

This is not looking good for us

Man that track takes me back…hair cuts in Aust. have definately improved since then! (well slightly anyway).

Been down to EB Games (shop) in Sydney CBD earlier today to check my SE pre-order was still alive. The good folks there were 110% confident on 25th and told me be there store side for collection at 0830 AEST sharp!

That’s definately a Thursday and Friday off for me …
and maybe the following week. It’s like being 12 again on the night before xmas! (ahhh except its 11 long nights), not that i’m counting!

It’s $65 at ozgameshop.com, but you’ll have to wait for it to be shipped from the UK (they sell UK edition games that work fine with the Australian PSN store).

So I’m thinking, if I work at Big W, we must have the game in stock before the 25th, how else would we set up a shelf overnight?

Me thinks it’s time to sweet talk the manager a bit ;)

  12. Thiele

Sweet, classic song. One of my al time Aussie favs

And yes, time zones make this pretty much the same time as the US.

agreed not a random vid – one of my singstar favourites… did I just say ‘singstar’ pffffff. oh well. my kids like me singing it.

  13. Sharky

Before some numbskull claims that this is a day behind the States – midnight November 25th in NZ is 3am November 24th on the east coast of the US, and 6am on the west coast… 3 hours =/= one day

    1. Sharky

Uh, swap east and west coast – west coast = 3am, east = 6am. Fail me.

And if you think I’m yanking your chain (I have no reason to), go to timeanddate.com and see for yourself…

    2. VIPERGTSR01

Yep the difference between midnight 24th in Los Angeles and Midnight 25 in Sydney is only 5 hours. So east coast Australia has to wait 5 hours longer…. so what.

  14. idlestation

haha the song is awesome.. a friend of mine introduced this to me a couple of months ago.

I suppose with custom music, this can become part of the GT5 sound track ;)
