couldn’t agree more. I don’t know much about it and i don’t want to. looks incredibly boring and is a part of GT5 I will definitely be avoiding.

Till you realize that racing in a pack at Daytona will be some of the most fun online racing you can do. Still GT5 won’t do the Sport justice. They probably didn’t refine the physics for NASCAR. Which is the reason for no 1.5 ovals. Oh and Yippie Ki-Yay M………. Nascar the Game will be where I’m at in Feb.

I find your comments about “Cowboys with cars” remarkably narrow-minded… almost as narrow-minded as a NASCAR fan’s comments about other forms of motorsports.

I will agree that modern NASCAR is quite boring. What I was hoping Polyphony would do with the NASCAR license is have NASCAR cars from all eras race each other. I would love to drive a race-prepped Superbird by an inappropriately named “Car of Tomorrow.”

ok, step 1, check if nascars are available on arcade mode from the start, step 2, drift a nascar on eiger nordwand, lol

i hope that jeff explained the only reason they need a push is because at tracks like daytona they have there hp cut in half, via the restrictor plate.

From what we have seen and heard, specially with the track list, it seems like Nascar will be very limited within GT5. I think that may be what PD is planning though, as it looks like GT5 is a little bit of a test platform for Nascar, and if people really like it they will expand upon it further.

Although (and people may not like me saying this), if the GT franchise keep expanded like this it may make more sense, and be much easier to split Gran Turismo into different games, like GT Nascar, and GT F1 an so on. Then make it so cars and tracks in one GT work in the other GT games you own.

I rather them have it all in one game. They can still pull that off, look at GT5, the content in that game is HUGE!

    2. Mutimy

In my opinion that wouldnt be a bad idea. I think it would be really cool to split it in to say Super GT, NASCAR, and Le Mans apart from the standard GT but not a different game, more like a Giant DLC. Kinda how Dragon Age made the Awakening add on.

I think this sort of collaboration is awesome for PD & the fans (us) as they can gain valueable insight into how things really work out there on the track… for instance the slipstreaming… and we will be the winners in the end because they will refine the physics.. i’ve already heard that the slipstreaming is much better than what it was in GT5p!!

Haha, this could be trouble. I’ve got enough on my hands with all of the other forms of motorsport.

That Jeff though, quite a class act, don’t you think? Even if he doesn’t sound like the most intellectual guy around xD No offense Jeff, you’re still a lot more eloquent than, say, the Stig! Or Sebastian Vettel, that stringy haired goof.

If you don’t like NASCAR now, you probably aren’t gonna become a fan after playing GT5. For one, there’s practically no NASCAR tracks in the game (hopefully the track creator can fix that). But more importantly is the limitation of the car amount. The intensity of NASCAR comes from the double file restarts where 43 cars are jammed 2, 3, and sometimes even 4 wide going 200 mph. I just don’t think that will be replicated in GT5. Hopefully, GT6 can improve on using the NASCAR license. I feel like its inclusion in GT5 is just to test out how things go for now.

Dear Rotard12a, I invite you to a romantic getaway with candle lit dinner, you can personally share your deep affection for me and my beautiful body. Then you can make me feel even more eloquent by reminding me I’m so much od a better driver than 7 time WC Schumacher and ugly little WC Vettel. They have no idea what it takes to drive for a circus, and with my experience I will always be #1 in F1, so I’ll stay with the circus to remain challenged to the highest degree.

the drafting in GT5P was sadly terrible. I really hope that they take Jeff’s advice with serious consideration because what he said is 100% true; even in karting, which i do, you NEED a pusher to pass someone. i hope they dont take it to literal though, you really dont need someone physically pushing you, you just need the air from the car behind to push you.

    2. Rotard12a

Well, the fact that Sony included that snippet is at least a good sign. They (hopefully) wouldn’t be dumb enough to tell us what a real NASCAR driver thinks then proceed to ignore it.

Also, if Jeff’s doing voice over dialog, he’s probably giving you driving tips as well. Drafting has to be somewhere in that fat script they gave him ;) Otherwise, why would he endorse the product?

      Good stuff either way :)

    3. lalaurentide

It’s not a air buildup on the nose of the car behind that pushes you, the nose of the car behind prevents air from going behind your car therefore reducing drag.

    4. speedthrill

no not just drafting that he means, it’s BUMP drafting.
That means that when fe second car comes close to first car, they don’t overtake, but stick at the butt off first car, so they become one car, with better aero and the second pushes the first faster and faster. This is a bit like cyclist trying to get away from the main group of chasers…

Happens alot in real life but is also quite tricky and dangerous. I hope they implemented that well into GT5. Because that is what nascar is all about
