Kunos Begins Teasing Second Porsche Pack, Releases Later This Month

Porsche’s 718 Spyder arrives to Assetto Corsa in just 20 days.

Kunos’ Marco Massarutto has taken to his Facebook page and has begun getting everyone excited over the contents of the second Porsche pack releasing later this month. Xbox One and PS4 owners are still waiting patiently to get their hands on last month’s inaugural pack, no thanks to the lengthy console approval processes.

Thanks to Steam spilling the beans earlier than anticipated, the contents of the remaining two packs are already out in the wild for everyone to see. With such a strong roster of cars from the German marque on the way to the game, purchasing the Season Pass will be easier for those inclined as there will no mystery in what’s being included.

A quick refresher of the seven (nine total with model variations) cars included in Porsche Pack 2:

  • 911 GT3 RS
  • 718 Spyder RS
  • Cayman GT4
  • 718 Boxster S Manual Transmission
  • 718 Boxster S PDK
  • 919 Hybrid 2015
  • 911 GT1
  • 962c Long Tail
  • 962c Short Tail

The 911 GT1 is yet another GT-class racing machine included in the second Porsche Pack.

The inclusion of the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid looks to continue a trend that was kicked off with the Ferrari SF15-T originally included in the Red Pack. With every performance setting being adjustable at the players fingertips, the resulting challenge will be an experience unlike anything else currently available in the game.

Assetto Corsa will end the year with plenty of variety from Porsche’s stable of sports and racing machines. With Marco strongly hinting that Laguna Seca is also on the way — perhaps in addition to the second or third Porsche pack — the first real-world US circuit to make its way to the game could even be in on the fun.

Porsche Pack 2 arrives on Steam on November 22 with no dates currently announced for Xbox One and PS4 owners. Don’t forget to head to our Assetto Corsa sub-forum to discuss this news and other aspects of the game.

Porsche Pack 2 is my most anticipated of the three. They will all be terrific but I cannot wait to try the 919 Hybrid, 911 GT1 and 962C.

Ah well, I best not get too carried away as I am still waiting for a Porsche Pack 1 on PS4.

Big lies from kunos the excuse from the Update process from Sony and Microsoft policy.
Cause F1 2016 launched only one week before the versions of Assetto Corsa on console received 7 updates already!

Even more, after the day one patch on xbox one in five days they maked the 1.02 hotfix for Xbox with the approval and all.

Like they also lied selling us the console versions with things like “it goes at 1080p and 60Fps” or “they will be the same as the PC version with less AI cars, less graphics and no mods”

Or the lie in the 1.03 update notes… Saying that they improved the framerate, while it isn’t , the proof is in the Digital Foundry vids, see the 1.01 video and the 1.03 video and the framerate is the same ,the only “improvement” is the inclusion of the triple buffer killing the screentearing.

So i realy think that they even didn’t submitted the next update and that they delayed the next update and DLC from porsche to get the needful fixes, improvements and add missing and needed features.
And maybe also because on the 10th November will be launched the Ps4pro …so they can also add an compatibility upgrade for the incoming console from Sony .

    1. TomBrady

It’s not a lie at all. The last patch and DLC was submitted and it took 1 week for PSN to approve the patch, 2 weeks to actually put it on the store. Xbox had the DLC up after 1 week but took 2 weeks to put out the patch.

And you’re delusional if you don’t think 1.03 improved the framerate, and screen tearing.

    2. Donnced

      @Tombrady.

The new update isn’t submitted, you can be sure about that.
Why else can codemasters on the support forum from F1 2016 say the date the 1.7 update arrived on PS4?
They submitted to Sony on a Friday, and the next Thursday it was live just like they said.. 5 days with the weekend in the middle (and 7 updates launched already).

Get a look at the twitter account from assetto, and look forward the comments after day one patch (1.01) from the Xbox. They said after complaints from the Xbox users that they gonna work on an hotfix for the performance problems 5 days after they launched 1.02 update (only Xbox).

Yes they’ve killed the screentearing and in the 1.03 adding the V-sync filter, or triple buffering like i said before, but there didn’t improve the framerate.

      Proof :

      V. 1.01 framerate test
      https://youtu.be/nGciWxkSmFU

      V.1.03 framerate test
      https://youtu.be/RUr_aQ8qIo0

And I’m not delusional, neither an idiot, i see the framerate drops quite easy, more if you take damage or when you’re in traffic.
Like i also see the constant lag in the reflections in hood view or the constant laging in the minimap.

I realy love the physics, driving and FFB from the game, but the console version is far,far away from his big bro, the PC version in options, content, physics, tyre versions, FFB settings and a looooong list.

So you can be sure that after al the negative feedback they received, they decided to work more time on the next update fixing broken sounds ,improving, fixing and adding missing and needed features. At least that’s what i hope, because honestly, assetto on console today is more a dead game than an alive game .

    3. Donnced

Michael Leary in mid October Marco Massarutto in his writing on Facebook before the realese of the 1.9 update and first DLC from porsche of the PC said “and the DLC will be launched on PS4 & XBOX in November after the approval from the next update…”

That was three weeks ago.. And the aproval process in sony and Microsoft goes from 5 days up to a maximum of two weeks.

Easy to calculate no? And Like i said, after all the negative feedback it’s easy to think, more with a little team like kunos that they delayed the next update for make it good, with the needed fixes, like the sound, improvements and adding necessary and missing features, do the internal testing and then submit it.

    4. TomBrady

      @Donnced

thanks for linking those videos. Only, I don’t think they produced the result you wanted.

As he says in the video, framerate is improved and especially frametime which has a huge affect on controller response.

Not to mention, although it only improved FPS by a few on 16 player races, it improved it by much more on smaller fields.

Like I said, 1.03 clearly improved framerate and thanks for providing the proof.

    5. TomBrady

@Michael He might be correct. I asked Kunos forum guy (CM_505 I think his name is) and he said they’d let us know when it was submitted. That was a week ago. Maybe he just hasn’t let us know, but maybe they just haven’t finished the patch.

I still don’t see how that is lying. They said the DLC would be out in November, it’s only November 2nd. They still have 2 weeks to submit the patch.

    6. Donnced

@TomBrady i only see that the true performance improvement is in the implementation of the triple buffer that killed the screentearing and maybe helped the frametime due the triple buffering.

But it’s still far away from the promised 60Fps (here you have one lie)
And if you view the framerate performance on the videos.. You see the same rates before and after 1.03 version (to my point of view second lie)

And for me the worsted lie was promising that the console versions would come out just equal to the PC version… Only With less graphics, AI cars and no mods.
And it’s really far away at this stage from the PC version in options, features and go on…

Like i also said, i now that it’s a little team, and that the Updates have to pass a aproval in sony and Microsoft.
But meanwhile, a game that is only a week older than assetto (F1 2016) have already received 7 updates.
So for me it’s a little lie that they can’t update the game so much as the PC version..

Meanwhile, the 1.9 update from the PC version took also two months to be launched and has been an big improvement,so have sense that the next update for console versions was also a bit delayed to achieve a big improvement and add needed and missing features.
At least that’s what I’m hoping for.

Because physics side and the driving and FFB is for me the best you can find in a console today.. But that’s all for now..
Now they have to build the “game” around this and put at least on par with their big bro, the PC version!

    7. Michael Leary

Perhaps but this is all under the assumption the console update was submitted the day of that announcement, and not the week the DLC was scheduled for release. Which is the likelier scenario as there’s no parity between the two builds.

  3. Johnnypenso

Can’t wait for this. So happy they are putting out the packs so close together and not stringing it out over a longer period. Every car has been great so far, from the lumbering yet grippy Panamera to the brutal and frightening 917. It’s been well worth the long, long wait for Porsche in sim racing!

  4. RaceFuchs

Oh well. Its frustrating right now to wait for Vol. 1 as a console player. I hoped we would see that pack this week on PS4…

    1. Fredzy

Agreed. Top 5 things this game does well:

      1. Overall vehicle behavior (physics)
      2. Overall immersion while on track
      3. Aggressively frustrates user
      4. Tuning (having a proper and noticeable effect)
      5. Most sounds
