Logitech G Car Pack, Bug Fixes Arrive in Forza 6

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SncwA1V05c

Forza 6 arrived mid-way through last month (see our review here), and has enjoyed a favourable reception, becoming the highest-rated current-generation racing game on Metacritic. Today marks the beginning of the monthly car packs, with eight new cars spanning from the pre-war era right up to this year’s autoshow circuit, and they’re coming bundled with a thorough title update to the game.

First off, those cars. The October Logitech G Car Pack has a little bit of something for everyone, with the Caparo T1 leading the way. The T1 made headlines years ago as an extreme “F1 car for the road”, at a time when small companies were popping up on a seemingly regular basis with such a claim. Caparo wasn’t messing about, though: with some of the men behind the seminal McLaren F1 part of the team, an insanely light (112kg) naturally-aspirated 3.5L V8 making 575bhp, and an advanced carbonfibre chassis, the claim still doesn’t seem unreasonable. Luckily, being in a video game, you won’t have to worry about it catching fire…

1939-Mercedes-Benz-W154

Jumping back in time nearly 80 years, we’re met with the Mercedes-Benz W154. Powered by a 3.0L V12 with a two-stage supercharger strapped to it, this car develops 475bhp, an amount still considered impressive in 2015! Driven by such illustrious names as Caracciola, Fangio, and… Hamilton, players will certainly require equal parts skill and patience to extract the best from it.

1967-Hona-RA300

Moving forward through time, we stop on the year 1967, with two cars that couldn’t be more different from one another: the Honda RA300, and the Volvo 123GT. The former joins a handful of 1960’s era F1 cars already in the game, and to this day is recognized as the only F1 car to obtain its only victory on the first race out, with a single leading lap to its credit.

The Volvo is a part of the “Amazon” family of vehicles, a family responsible for numerous wins during the decade, both on- and off-road. Both should prove competitive in their respective classes.

1967-Volvo-123GT

Wrapping up the road car offerings in the pack, two modern cars again offer quite varied experiences for players. The 2015 Q60 Concept is Infiniti’s peak at the replacement for the much-loved G37 Coupe. With a new, turbocharged 3.0L V6 lurking underhood, it should prove popular with tuners. The Infiniti is also the free car this month, available to all players.

The 2013 XTS Limousine will doubtless be the source of many laughs, and this writer is certainly hoping for a spec series. Draft trains around ovals, I hear you say? Sign me up!

1994-Nissan-75-Cunningham-Racing-300ZX

The final two vehicles are racing machinery from Japan. 1994 was the final year for turbos in IMSA, and Steve Millen took that as a challenge to have his Nissan 300ZX sitting atop the podium. It did, with him taking more class wins than any other driver that year. Old-school Gran Turismo players should recognize the livery too, as the Racing Modifications in GT1 and GT2 aped it.

Lastly, the 2014 Toyota #12 Rebellion Racing R-One. Powered by a Toyota V8, this car won its class at last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Alright, so its class consisted of only it and its sister car (#13), but a fourth place overall in the race is even more impressive. The Rebellion’s inclusion further fleshes out the modern prototype selection available in-game.

2013-Caparo-T1

The Logitech G Car Pack will be available in-game as of today. It’s available on the Marketplace for $7, or free for those that already hold the Car Pass. The cars will not be available to drive until you perform the title update, however.

The update itself, weighing in at 638mb, covers a variety of aspects of the game. The full update notes are available below:

Cars

  • Corrected the engine sounds for the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350R.
  • Corrected issues with all of the V8 Supercars in the game, so that each car uses the correct engine sounds.
  • Improved the cockpit camera positioning for a number of cars in the game, including the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4, 1971 Plymouth Cuda 426 and the 1970 Ford Escort RS1600 Fast & Furious edition, among others.
  • We have addressed an issue with drivetrain swaps that was causing some cars (including well-known examples such as the 1968 Abarth 595 esseesse, the 1965 MINI Cooper S, and the 1975 FIAT X1/9), to perform beyond their PI classification. To coincide with this fix, we are performing a wipe of all leaderboard times set with a car that used a drivetrain swap. We expect the leaderboard wipe will happen Tuesday (10/6) afternoon. With this content update in place, cars that were previously banned from multiplayer will now be allowed back in. In addition times set in cars that feature drivetrain swaps will be allowed to post times to leaderboards.
  • Numerous additional car improvements and corrections.

Track Updates

  • ROAD ATLANTA: Removed an “invisible dip” that was appearing in the drift loop section of the track.
  • MONZA: Fixed a bug that allowed players to gain an unfair advantage at the Ascari Chicane.
  • TOP GEAR: Corrected several areas that were incorrectly “dirtying” players’ lap times.

Drivatars

  • We continue to investigate issues involving inconsistency in Drivatar behaviors during Forza Motorsport 6 races; namely several Drivatars pulling away from the rest of the pack. To coincide with this content update, we have instituted a server-side fix that we believe will help the issue as we continue to investigate further. Stay tuned for more in the future.
  • Fixed an issue where Drivatars were not taking damage when the player was driving with simulated damage turned on.

Livery Tune/Import

  • Fixed an issue where players could not import liveries from Forza Motorsport 5 that used certain characters, including the lower case “a” character.
  • Corrected an issue where players’ saved tunes could not be applied to a car unless it was applied immediately after downloading it. With this fix, saved tunes can now be applied to cars at any point.
  • Addressed an issue where downloaded tunes were missing front suspension settings.

Achievements

  • We have corrected issues with the “World Traveler” achievement, which should now work as expected.

Pitting/Rewind

  • Fixed an issue where only a maximum of 2 AI cars could enter the pits at any time.
  • Pitting will now fix headlight damage when simulation damage is turned on.
  • Fixed an issue with rewind, where players could not rewind when AI cars were in the pits. With this fix, players will now be able to rewind, even when AI cars are pitted.

Mods

  • Using Boost Mods in a Career or Free Play race will now “dirty” your lap.
  • Fixed an issue where Crew Mods modifiers would only work on the unique track specified on the card. Now Crew Mods modifiers will work as intended, with a general indicated performance increase on all tracks, and a specialized increase on the specified track.
Fixed an issue where players would get the exact same Mods pack upon starting the game with a new profile.
  • Power-related Mods are now applying the correct amount of additional power to all cars.
  • Fixed an issue with the “Cockpit Camera/No HUD” Mod, whereby the HUD would reappear after doing a few practice laps.

Multiplayer

  • Better League result reporting after each race, points earned displayed and access to the League Leaderboards in the Lobby.
  • Added ability to order the grid by the previous best lap in Multiplayer. This change will be rolled out in the more competitive lobbies first.
  • Some multiplayer hoppers will now allow the starting grid to roll off by row in order to help with the congestion in the first and second corners.

Miscellaneous

  • Prizes from Tombola spins will now be gifted to the correct player in splitscreen races.
  • Fixed an issue with the mini map and the player location arrow when playing in Tag mode.
  • Fixed an issue in Free Play where changing the assists in the pre-race menu would reset the Drivatar difficulty level.
  • Changed Total Time in the “My Drivatar” menu to appear into days:minutes:seconds format.
  • Fixed an issue where telemetry shows no data when viewing a replay directly after a race has finished.
  • Fixed an issue where Drift scores report incorrectly, resulting in different leaderboards for different players.
  • Fixed an issue where headlights would turn off and then on again after rewinding in a race.
  • Fixed an issue where controller dead zones were resetting after completing a race.
  • Fixed an issue with control mapping when a player has both a controller and a wheel connected to the Xbox One when starting Forza 6.

As ever, head over to our Forza Motorsport 6 section to discuss these updates, and the rest of the game, in more detail.

Seems Turn 10 hit a big one with this pack, lot of happy gamers (me included), that limo shows that someone has a sense of humor, Nurburgring here we come!

    1. SecretAgentZero

They had me at limo as well. Gonna create a totally tasteful and completely restrained machine from it…..

  2. TeamCZRRacing

Is there a way to turn off the mods system? It seems incredibly dumb and is one of the reasons I haven’t bought FM6 yet.

    1. JorgePinto

They are completely optional. The game never forces you to use them, only if you want to get all the achievements, but that’s all.

    2. ImaRobot

The mod system is great, especially if you stick to only dare mods like handicapping yourself by restricting 20% HP, or reducing grip by 15%.

  3. shawtyoner

I was just about to post how dumb it was that pitting did not fix headlamp damage today. Im glad T10 resolved it in this update! 2 laps left in my Le Mans endurance race without headlights was ridiculous.

  4. Johnnypenso

Wow. One car pack from Forza puts pretty much every DLC pack ever released on Gran Turismo in 5 years to shame. Only thing that even comes close is the Senna DLC.

    1. SZRT Ice

This is far past “getting old”. Just enjoy your Forza a cap it already. This article has absolutely nothing to do with GT.

    2. TeamCZRRacing

I second SZRT Ice. It’s good that you enjoy Forza, but we’re tired of hearing about it constantly.

    3. SZRT Ice

I’m just tired of seeing him bash GT at every opportunity he gets. Even when there’s no correlation to the topic of discussion, he still manages to find an excuse to do it. Funny thing is, he used to combat that type of behavior himself. Now he’s come full circle.

    4. Obelisk

Sure…But you have to pay $5 for it.

GT has has a great collection of cars added in. You have the Vision GTs, which-despite not being real, physical cars-are viable cars that people can drive. Then there ARE a few VGTs that have real world models, and Bugatti went out of their way to make a working one.

Then you also have the regular free content. Where else would a franchise include tracks, the ability to duplicate any road known to man (Track Path app), and some cars which are frankly very unique. So if one $5 car pack blows away GT, then where are the road-going NISMO GT-R, the LMP NISMO GT-R, the Zytek-Greaves LMP2, the obscure brands of cars, the Ayrton Senna cars, annual game-to-racing competitions, and B-Spex

Honestly, I do not care if you like Forza over GT. Fair enough, that’s all your preference.
BUT. Just because you prefer one franchise over the other does NOT entitle you to bash on GT, nor is it acceptable justification for attacking fans that support GT.

Honestly, you adults don’t know how to conduct yourselves…

    5. Obelisk

Not to mention you’re basically picking and choosing whatever best supports your viewpoint, not the whole truth that your information was plucked from. The things that disappoint me are the people who choose to be ignorant in a debate and ignore valid points. (Chances are Johnny will ignore most of my comment content and bash and nitpick on one aspect.)

It’s just like a Christian following the Old Testament rule of sodomy is a sin. They can’t just pick and choose from the Old Testament to suit their ignorance. If they follow one rule, they have to follow all of the rules.

Analogy aside, every time I see you on a comment thread on a Forza or GT article, it’s just so very disappointing to see how you conduct yourself as a person: Ignorant, spiteful and nitpicky.

All of that said, I’m with SRZT and CZR. Kindly zip your ignorant lips and go back to the Forza sub-forums…

    6. SimTourist

@Obelisk, to be fair we got a fair bunch of free content between Forza 5 and Horizon 2, three new tracks and more than a few free cars (4 gens of Mazda MX5 for example, Rolls Royce, and many others). In this regard I think both franchises are more or less the same. Polyphony hesitates to add truly new cars and holds everything back for the next main installment, while T10 releases stuff as they finish working on it. Two different philosophies.

    7. strela

It’s been 2 years and you still whinning about it. You didn’t like GT DLC sistem from day one!! Get over it allready!
And again you will explain everybody that this is just another constructive criticism! Yeah! Keep it up whit this attitude! Sure there is one or two on this planet that are not bored of it!

    8. Johnnypenso

Haha…looks like I hit a nerve there…lol. As SimTourist correctly points out, Forza 5 got plenty of free content as well, they just go the extra mile and offer you even more content which you have to pay for obviously. Good thing is, with a game released every couple of years or less, if you don’t buy the DLC, you only have to wait a short time and it’s free in the next games’ base content. I’d much rather have that option to purchase extra content than not have it at all. I would think most rational people would agree that having options is a good thing.

    9. ImaRobot

attacking? Who exactly is getting attacked?

I’m not sure where the notion comes from that this relatively cheap priced DLC is the only DLC that comes to Forza.

In FM5, not only did we get three free tracks, as well as 15 free DLC cars throughout it’s life. There’s also paid DLC on GT so I’m not even sure why you brought pu the 5$ price as if it’s some sort of problem.

    10. TeamCZRRacing

Let me be clear: I recognize Johnny isn’t attacking anyone – not explicitly. However, with the frequency with which he “constructively criticizes” GT, it can certainly seem like he’s trying to make others feel bad for playing what they like.

And last I recall, the paid DLC in GT5 was but a small feature introduced with Spec 2.0 and altogether didn’t cost that much. GT6 has had *no* paid DLC at all thus far, and the microtransaction system is almost nonexistent.

    11. Johnnypenso

That paid DLC in GT5 you call a small feature was around $US40 or closing in on doubling the price of the original game. I’d hardly call that a “small feature”. Not that I had any issue with the price, I bought all of it after all, just correcting your mistake is all.
@Imarobot. I guess I’m responsible for how people feel after reading my posts now….lol. If someone feels bad reading an online post that says something they don’t like about a videogame, I’d suggest the internet is not the place for you…lol.

    12. ImaRobot

I’m willing to bet that the free DLC we get in FM6’s life will rival that off the free content that is provided by PD, as there track record has already shown that more than generiously. With FM6 there is just a choice to get more, if we’re willing to spend the amount to get it. Both PD and T10 averages a car at $1 in their DLC(while some of PD’s have dipped a bit higher occasionally.) All the while, Microtransactions are literally nonexistent within the game. .

  5. FosterG

I was thinking the same thing about the Caparo. And I really like the Volvo, should be fun to tinker with. The Limo is a real boat for the road, it is the last one I wanted and the first one I drove, go figure!

    1. SlipZtrEm

Since it showed up around the same time as GT5 Prologue, it’s probably more fair to say the X cars are Caparo rip-offs. :D
