PMC Week 11: Flying Honda Limos?!

Woops! Borrowing a page from PD there, we didn’t have an update last week about the 10th week of the Photomode Competitions. We’ll be back to our regularly-scheduled program next week, but for now, here’s what’s going on this week in the Photomode sub-forum:

GT5 Photomode Competition (PMC):

Last Week’s Winner: DiabolicalMask

“Choosing to capture the front/headlights of the Tuscan came out naturally, since they’re very distinctive and beautiful.
After I was happy with the composition, I decided to go “extreme b&w” (or whatever it is called) to give it a little extra punch. And also because with TVRs, it’s all about the form – the colour would just be distracting.
Out of this session, I actually made a whole set in b&w, that I posted on my gallery.
Oh, and the car I was driving is the one in back, not the dark one.”

This Week’s Theme: Diabolical has given us a fun theme this week with Airborne. He asks that all images have all four wheels of their subjects off the ground. An additional note he adds is that it must be realistic; as hilarious as it is to have your car catapulting through the air after a glitchy crash, that’s not what he’s looking for. This Week’s Poll: Week 10’s theme of German Manufacturer brought out the big guns from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and VW. There’s not much time left this week, so get your votes in now to crown the best image! Jump to the thread now!

Advanced Competition (2.0):

Last Week’s Winner: happycorey

“I’d just like to say, the week was going to be awesome. An old car, and an old editing style. The only thing I could think of off the top of my head right away, is 300SL on the Nurburing. Making it as authentic as possible as if the car was being photographed for the pamphlet at the dealership was what I had in mind. Thanks to everyone who made the win possible! I hope for similar competitions in the future.”

This Week’s Theme: Corey’s focused on a single manufacturer with this one: Honda: The Power of Dreams. Now, this does extend to sister companies, and tuners as well – Acura, Spoon, Mugen, they’re all eligible. Basically, if Honda Motor Company originally built the model, it’s fair game. Make Soichiro proud! Jump to the thread now!

This Week’s Poll: Week 10 was an H2H (Head2Head) theme, so there are two polls this week. A rivalry most of us were introduced to because of GT itself, it’s Subaru v Mitsubishi, the ultimate grudge match. Cast your vote for the best from both sides; tomorrow, the winners from both will face off in a showdown. Jump to the Subaru thread, and then, to the Mitsubishi one! As an extra little bonus, the winner walks away their choice of model from the winning faction.

Photomode/Photoshop Competition (PMPS):

Last Week’s Winner: MiniMarco

This Week’s Theme: Want to flex your Photoshop muscles? Feel free to, you’ll have plenty of space to stretch out this week afterwards; the theme’s Limousines. MiniMarco wants some realistic limo conversions this week, and he’s given the rough limitation of at least a door’s length added to sedans, while coupes will need double that. Jump to the thread now!

This Week’s Poll: Last week was a fun one, following in the footsteps of Lightning McQueen: Pixar Cars. Users created some characters that look straight out of the movies, and it’s your job to vote the best one! Jump to the thread now!

All sound a bit complicated? Read this thread for an explanation on how to get your images off your PS3 and onto a computer, and read over the individual rules in each competition’s thread. If you’re further stuck, feel free to Private Message me (click here).  Start snapping those digital shutters!

Just had to say that the photomode competition is simply awesome. Can’t say I’ve been involved directly but just checking out the weekly entrants, their ideas, concepts, designs are 2nd to none. Very pleasant viewing material

One thing I thought of while voting this week:

The pictures to vote on are currently placed before the statement of what the contest is. With 40 pictures per poll, that’s a lot of scrolling down to see the theme, then up to see the pictures, then back down to find the voting button. Is it possible to move the theme up to the top?

Well, in the case of the Photomode Competition, you can see the theme title in poll question spot in the beginning of the poll. But it is current impossible to place the theme post before the poll.
