The Next GT Sport “World Tour” Event Will Be in Austria, September 20-23

The next Gran Turismo Sport “World Tour” event will be held in Austria, at Red Bull’s famous “Hangar 7”, between September 20 and the 23.

The first World Tour event was held at the Nurburgring 24 Hours, where some of the game’s top players in Europe were invited to compete in head-to-head races at the event. It was the biggest live GT Sport production since the game’s reveal in London, complete with multi-lingual live streams.

Like the Nurburgring, it appears this second World Tour event will mirror GT Sport’s FIA-certified Championship format, with two separate competitions for the Nations and Manufacturer Cups.

It’s not yet clear if players invited to the Nurburgring will be returning to Austria, but there have definitely been some changes, as we can confirm several players from the United States have been invited. This is different from the first event, which featured only Europeans.

If you’re lucky enough to receive an invitation, check out GTPlanet member mclarenLB’s “Mega Report” on his experience at the Nurburgring. Needless to say, it was a very, very good time.

For long-time Gran Turismo fans, the new venue needs no introduction. Red Bull’s Hangar 7 was featured prominently in Gran Turismo 5 as a Photo Travel location. Polyphony Digital created a stunning digital copy of the architectural wonder (and its contents), which players could explore as they searched for a spot to photograph their car.

Keep an eye out for more news on the event in the coming weeks, along with live stream details. If you got an invitation, visit the comment section and start connecting with other competitors headed to Austria. Best of luck to you all!
