Corvette C7 Prototype in Gran Turismo 5 as Free DLC Today, New Video & Screenshots Released

Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital formally announced their special collaboration on the next-generation C7 model corvette today at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.

First spotted in Gran Turismo 5 by GTPlanet community members earlier this month, the heavily camouflaged prototype will be drivable in the game “today” by downloading the car as free DLC from the PlayStation Store.

According to the press release, Polyphony Digital paid careful attention to every detail in the creases and wrinkles in the soft camouflage, used to disguise the prototype while its driving characteristics are currently being tuned and refined ahead of the vehicle’s official debut in January.

“Until now, only the most skilled drivers on the Corvette team have been authorized to push the test prototypes to the limits on some of the most challenging track surfaces in the world,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Global Marketing. “Through this unique collaboration with Gran Turismo, Chevrolet is able, for the first time, to give performance car enthusiasts access to such an exclusive driving experience.”

“Gran Turismo has had many firsts and we’re excited to partner with Chevrolet for yet another – bringing the first-ever Chevrolet prototype vehicle into a racing game,” said Kazunori Yamauchi. “As car enthusiasts, we’re thrilled to give fans this extraordinary level of access to the seventh generation Corvette that otherwise would not be possible.”

Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. More information on the announcement will be available at One13Thirteen.com.

      YankTank lol. Hey hows dem heavy 1600KG Astons you guys got over there. Nah im just kidding. I love Astons. Very Unique. I was never a vette fan (VIPER!!!) so i can only laugh. I dont hate vette, i have respect for them, i just never liked them. Corner and brake litterly like tanks. Except the Z06, (Still brakes)

    You must access play.store with a new psn name, If you have “purchased” the car, but no sucess in downloading.Because if you try to get it a second time, playstore will tell not available. Happend to me yesterday 2 times( didn`t understand how to download the car) On 3rd try on my 3rd psn name I got the corvette.

      also works when you download another DLC wich you already have. then download vette c7 again. Worked for me.

      Home team! Corvette is America’s stake in international GT racing, and it’s always so much cooler when it’s in your own backyard. Hell I still never get tired of watching old Le Mans footage of the Ford Mark IV’s triumph. They say “out of Dearborn, Michigan” and I go “Hey, that’s just a few miles away!”. Nice to be a car guy in Michigan!

    This is really pissing me off, still not downloadable in the EU PS Store. It wasn’t there after the EU blog announced it was, so they put it up but aren’t letting us use it.

    I think it’s well established, but PD, thank you. Thank you for supporting this game for so long, and for giving us things like updates, patches & free DLC. There aren’t many developers out there who do this kind of thing on the timescale you have!

      I note the original hp, kg and pp in the settings then adjust back to original hp and kg on all my whips just to maintain the cars’ stock performance.

    It’s in the UK store and BG store. Downloaded it from both, but they didn’t appear in downloadable content. After 10 minutes I tried to download again and it said not avaliable yet. WTF? :)

      I have the exact same problem. Put it in the cart and checked out from the EU store this morning, but it was never downloaded. When I try again it says it is not available for purchase at this time. Just have to wait for it to get fixed.

      We also got a fresh line-up of NASCAR cars, a Toyota/Scion, and a “special edition” Red Bull X2010, the Vettel version. Very funny though.

    Have anyone seen the new C7 in any EU Playstation stores? It’s about 10 hours since the news section in stated the car is available ‘Today’. I’m from Norway but nothing in my store. Really looking forward to try this car!

    I can’t download it… My wallet in PSN it’s empty and in cart there is also the HSV DLC. How can i erase the HSV from the cart??? I can’t buy PSN money cause i haven’t real money…. :( Please help!!!

    What kind of paint chip comes with it? Awe, who cares. We got a free C7 with camo! I knew it, I knew it! I was racing my ZR1 in3D last night thinking about when we’d get the C7 activated in the game. Thanks PD.
