Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital formally announced their special collaboration on the next-generation C7 model corvette today at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.
First spotted in Gran Turismo 5 by GTPlanet community members earlier this month, the heavily camouflaged prototype will be drivable in the game “today” by downloading the car as free DLC from the PlayStation Store.

According to the press release, Polyphony Digital paid careful attention to every detail in the creases and wrinkles in the soft camouflage, used to disguise the prototype while its driving characteristics are currently being tuned and refined ahead of the vehicle’s official debut in January.
“Until now, only the most skilled drivers on the Corvette team have been authorized to push the test prototypes to the limits on some of the most challenging track surfaces in the world,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Global Marketing. “Through this unique collaboration with Gran Turismo, Chevrolet is able, for the first time, to give performance car enthusiasts access to such an exclusive driving experience.”
“Gran Turismo has had many firsts and we’re excited to partner with Chevrolet for yet another – bringing the first-ever Chevrolet prototype vehicle into a racing game,” said Kazunori Yamauchi. “As car enthusiasts, we’re thrilled to give fans this extraordinary level of access to the seventh generation Corvette that otherwise would not be possible.”
Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. More information on the announcement will be available at One13Thirteen.com.

You could still wash it lol
I cannot download it from store..im from Czech Republic and it says that I cannout purchase it at this moment..weird
It says the same for me but I’m in New Zealand. I hate it how everything is ALWAYS delayed, or not up to standard here. NZ is behind the rest of the world, thats for sure.
I had the same problem. Go to View Downloads on PS Store menu and you’ll see C7 there. Click on it and it will install.
account management -> transaction management -> download list :)
Hey at least you guys actually have a PSN Store to purchase DLC from. Here in the Philippines, we don’t exist as far as Sony is concerned.
I still managed to get the DLC though. There are ways. If a little 3rd world guy like me can figure it out I’m sure you can, too! It’s all legal, too.
@legobrainboy
You mean like making a US, European or Japanese account and then buying PSN cards for those counties online? Every single person with a PS3 that doesn’t have a PSN store available for their country does that; it’s no secret. How else could we buy DLC and stuff? I used to have two different PSN accounts from two different countries in my old PS3 and spent my hard earned cash on PSN games and DLC.
Some elitist idiots will tell you that we cannot do that, but honestly we are giving Sony our hard earned and legitimate money so I don’t think they mind.
Im just annoyed that we get the C7 and Forza gets the New SRT Viper. I hope we atleast get a Privateer team for the GTS-R come 2013 ALMS season.
Would you stop complaining? Oh, it’d be cool to get this or that… Have you heard of anything called licences? That’s a big pain in the ass that big companies throw around to make sure they get lots of money when something they own is used or represented in something like a game for example. So don’t hope to have any time a Porsche or the official F1 licenses. And even so, may I remind you that GT is a Real DRIVING Simulator, and not racing. And if you’re really pissed off, by an XBox and Forza. For my part I won’t, I don’t like arcade games that pretend to be a sim. I’ve been playing GT since the first one, and I’ve put countless hours of driving around and though it has its flaws (and big ones, the AI for instance), I still put lots of hours so somewhere it must be really good (my patience with games is very short, I don’t like I dump in a few hours, eg Assassin’s Creed 3 or Shift 2).
1000000000000000000000000000+ likes too what Sam said
Going to be blunt. You really do not have a clue if you think Forza is arcade.
Muo: 10/10 bro!
Forza’s the most arcadey looking racing game out there.
It’s annoying, isn’t it?
I think Need for Speed is the most arcade-style racer out there. GT and Forza are the two best racing games out now…NFS doesn’t even compare to them regarding gameplay. My 2¢.
Seriously guys? Don’t tell me that Forza is a perfect sim. Ok, I’ll take that back when I’ll see a Forza Academy… And by the way, a half-finished Corvette, no custom, come pn PD, we’re not so desperate, we can wait january to get the real one…
Not saying Forza is the perfect sim. And it’s okay if you think GT is more realistic. But to say Forza is arcade is ridiculous.
And GT Academy is just a marketing technique used by Nissan to pick their race car drivers.
Anyway… Motorsport is all about marketing isn’t it? Or if not we shouldn’t have a good third of the F1 every season that pays to drive (like monkeys). Maybe a F1 academy with whoever is fastest in game would get a drive. Couldn’t be worse probably. Think I’ll call Bernie and Codemasters to talk them into it… :)) and I don’t give a s… about which game is better, I don’t own Forza as I don’t have an Xbox and don’t see a reason buying one. I chose Ps3 because of Gt5 (and Metal Gear). It’s only a game and whatever pleases you it’s cool. Even if it’s an arcade game … :)))))))
I wonder if it gets soggy when you wash it in GT Auto! ;)
+1
nice suprise
SICK! THANKS PD!
Used an alternate account to get the C7. Just raced 5 laps @560pp on RS tyres. Puts the power down lovely and brakes hard! Turned in and accelerated good kept up with the modified cars but was killed on the straight Cape Ring South. Yeah, looking forward to the production ordeal.
*model. Damn spellcheck
Might have died on the straight due to them modelling the aero drag effect from all those blankets. If we get the production version in GT5, it would be interesting to test the top speed of both.
That’s logically thinking outside the box!
Free update…… Brilliant. Not an American fan but seems great fun, lets see what the real car looks like in January in a virtual reveal.
Well timed a few laps on the ‘ring, not to bad so far 7.40s but brakes aint best – bit sluggish under hard breaking, understeers a bit – light front end and noise isnt what i expected – expected a bark but any update could tweak anything on the car.
well this kind of stuff for GT is always welcome! Will download it anytime soon..
Hi everyone, for anybody(in the EU at least)who haven’t got the ‘vette yet, just go to account management and select transaction management and go to services list and the car should be there to download, then fire up GT and go to to the downloadable content arrow and install.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tip. I tried to to exactly like that this morning after my first download failed, but it wasn’t in the download list then. Now it was, and I was able to download it.
It’s at the download list not at service list , i finally found it !Thanks for the tip stiggygonzalez! !
yea, its under download list. thanks for that mate! :)
thanks so much m8 :)
It’s a really nice car to drive. Fantastic on turn-in. Though sounds exactly like the ZR1 in-game. Still, looking forward to seeing an unmasked version that we can modify.
Overall it’s a pretty good car, I’m impressed at how it controls its weight. Thanks GM, can’t wait to see what it really looks like
Wish I could enjoy testing this new Corvette, but still Polyphony Digital hasn’t really fixed the clutch model in GT5–at least for my Fanatec setup. “mis-shifting” and going into neutral at least 10 times per lap gets old fast. Once I’m reminded again why I don’t enjoy GT5 like I should, I turn off the PS3, turn the Xbox 360 back on, load Forza 4 or Horizon, and I’m back to enjoying an immersive experience with a “realistic” clutch. Tired of PD’s excuses. I should be enjoying GT5 with full clutch and stick.
I guess the last fix is ONLY for the Logitech G27? Haven’t heard if it’s actually better for that wheel.
Let’s see, I’m driving in GT5, and it’s time to shift gears… Okay, wait. Let the throttle pedal all the way out, or at least to 90% (as I’ve read you have to do), then push in the clutch pedal… DON’T TOUCH THE THROTTLE! …then move the shift stick to the next gear, AND DON’T TOUCH THE THROTTLE, …okay, does the on-screen display show a number or “N,” …okay, it’s a number. …alright let out the clutch… Yay, we’re in gear! …and I’ve missed my turn-in line and the apex.
Forza 4 and Horizon… work the throttle, clutch, and shift stick like I do my real car. Hit my turn-in, apex, and exit perfectly every time.
You poor thing. *plays violin*
These days, a “realistic driving simulator” must include a good clutch model. In a “simulator,” if I’m driving a car with a manual gearbox, then I expect to use the clutch and stick. If the user input doesn’t work realistically, then who cares about how great the cars look, the variety of tracks, or how well the physics engine simulates real driving. It hinders the “realism” for an experienced driver that knows how to use a manual gearbox in racing conditions.
I have always loved the Gran Turismo titles, and if they’d just “fix” this issue, I could continue to enjoy everything it has to offer, and not throw up my hands in frustration and quit this “game.”
I’d have to agree with apex here. the clutching is pretty poor in GT5, but I really can’t support forza. I played it and while it does many things GT5 aught to do. when it comes to actually driving GT5 has no equal. most noticeably is the track detail… not the superficial tree or spectator graphics, I’m talking about elevation changes and turn radius’s. Play nurbergring on Forza and tell me it is even remotely close. (had the honor of hitting the real thing in sept!!) Forza isn’t even close compared to GT5. I polish on the interface for forza is better In my opinion, and although their models are not as good it becomes a moot point when GT5 lets you do so little with them. can’t open doors, engine bays etc. Forza really did good work here. Good competition always does good things to things like this so I hope that GT5 realizes the (easily done) car eye candy that can be implemented in the next installment. As rightfully pointed out by Apex here, graphics of cars are of little consequence when you are actually driving. GT5 has better driving, with the exception of the terrible clutch model. It is what it is, and is unfortunate with GT5. However, in the same breath for the super cars to do stick and clutch is very inefficient compared to paddles for good lap times. (that’s just an excuse I just realized so I withdraw that last part :-)
I definitely love driving a car equipped with the latest sequential gearbox technology and “flappy paddles.” I also spend a lot of time in F1 2012, and other than a hand-clutch for starting from a stop (in the real world, not F1 2012), they are a hydro-electric clutch. Many cars featuring paddle shifting were inspired by F1.
However, if I’m driving in a “simulator” with a Caterham, an old Austin Healey, a Lotus, or I want to try to “manage” a heavy American Muscle Car around the track, it’s just not right to use the paddles, and no clutch pedal. Especially if the simulator “supports” it.
Forza Horizon, “Realistic?”
Horizon… Pff. I got bored of with that game so FAST it wasn’t a joke. I shouldn’t have bought it, cuz I knew DLC will be the ONLY attention it gets. Well Look at that, I was right… Did you see their latest DLC? Seriously.. Is that the only thing that can keep Forza alive? I’m just tired of it. >_>
As a PS3 owner who doesn’t have an Xbox and thus plays GT and not Forza, I was rather happy to hear of Forza Horizon, because Forza starting to toy with arcade games only looks good for the GT series.
I deffinently agree with what ApexVGear said about stick shifts. I especially find it a joke to use paddle shifts on a muscle car. Lol, muscle cars are so much about force and raw power and in no way precision handling. Using paddle shifts justs seems comical.
No it’s not because I don’t have Forza. I have FM4 as well, and I like it. It’s just Horizon… It’s good that Forza did something new too, but the DLC of course…
Totally agree about the crappy gearbox simulation. I think PD were having trouble programming it in a way to be too advantageous for guys who know how to properly drive manuals… for time-trials and competitions and such…
I agree with the comments about Forza HORIZON. Once you accept the physics are “dumbed down” compared to Forza Motorsport 4, it’s fun for about a week. Drive on every road, find everything, do everything, and the honeymoon’s over. Rivals is okay in Horizon, but so much better in FM4. I know that Horizon is just another way for Turn 10 to keep Microsoft happy and generate some more revenue in the years between releases of FM4.
I just don’t like Turn 10 being “distracted” by the Horizon project, and transferring all the DLC attention away from FM4. Apparently that’s it for car packs, and any chance of other content, such as additional tracks.
I know some of the FM4 tracks aren’t totally accurate, Road America being another one–the elevation changes on turns 13 and 14 aren’t quite right. FM4′s physics are very good, if your wheel’s set up correctly, but sometimes it goes “bonkers.” I know of at least two turns where just grazing the inside rumble strip can flip the car on its’ side.
Now we wait for the next round and new releases. Turn 10 focuses on Forza 5, and hopefully in less than six years, Kazunori will stop playing with his fleet of real sports cars, going to shows, and racing in 24 hour events, and commit all his effort to making GT6 “perfect.”
Couldn’t disagree more with the Horizon comments. I had the game since release and for the month I’ve had it, I haven’t even bothered beating the game and I’m still having a blast with it. It’ll get boring quickly if you only focus on getting to the end. I’m savoring the game and enjoying everything it has to offer, it’s been a great experience so far.
@Amac500: I would agree if Horizon was part of the main series and not a spinoff.
@STUCHS: I agree that FM4′s Nurburging isn’t good, but owning FM4 and GT5, and playing both of them with Fanatec CSR, I actually think FM4 has the driving down better than GT5.
Forza Horizion SUCKS. Get the new Most Wanted, the sounds will give you goosebumps.
Funny, because I’ve been hearing the exact opposite. I do plan on getting MW once the price goes down though.
I do however, love Horizon and would love to play it again, and will never sell it, but if its DLC (which are mostly cars and cars coming from FM4 which makes no sense) is the full attention to keep it going than forget it. I know they’re better than that, but that seriously pissed me off when they did that, and are STILL doing it. Who does that!? I’m not trying to sound like a hater and all but come on. The reason why I stopped playing Horizon is because theres nothing else to do in anymore but free roaming and multiplayer…
I am however, having lots of fun with NFS MW 2012 though, but don’t understand the hate towards it. Not like they release DLC yet, the game seems to be keeping me happy everytime I play it…
Its works weird in GT5 because the cars dont support the clutch period. FM4 does, still, theres no comparison in the physics, so ill take bad clutch.
Sorry, didn’t mean to bash Forza Horizon. It’s a fun title, and the open world is great. I do like to run the final street challenge that circles the map, and I’ll drive around in it for 30 minutes or so each day, then switch over to something more serious. I just wish they’d offer an option to turn on more realistic physics and physical damage. I also wish they’d offer shortcuts to switch cars and make upgrades.
Comparing GT5 and FM4 physics, the wheel you are using and its’ setup is VERY important. If you switch over from GT5 to FM4 without touching the wheel settings, FM4 is going to feel very off. A wheel such as the Fanatec GT2 or CSR models allow you to configure up to five profiles. I have separate profiles for FM4, GT5, Dirt 3, Race Pro, and F1 2012.
A friend with some racing experience in the past, primarily races and drifts in GT5 with Logitech wheels. She had tried Forza with an old Xbox wheel, but didn’t like it, and said it didn’t feel realistic. I’ve owned two Xbox wheels, and if it’s all you have, it’s great, but they don’t even come close to Logitech or Fanatec wheels (and they break too easily). After she sat in my rig for a couple of hours with Forza 4, she agreed the wheel and settings do make a big difference.
F1 2012 is another title where your wheel and its’ settings are important. I’ve read complaints about “wheel input lag” and the physics being “uncontrollable.” 2010 and 2011 did have some input lag problems, but 2012 doesn’t. In addition to the fact that an F1 car must be driven very differently (precise braking and throttle control) and everything is happening so much faster, you must spend at least 2-3 hours tweaking the in-game and on-wheel settings.
I so want to love GT5 as I have the past versions, I have always liked the physics model, and I “completed” every thing in GT5 and own every car–I put up with the clutch problem. After FM4 came out a year later, now it’s so frustrating to switch back over to GT5 and want to enjoy it just as much… only to be pulled out of the experience and immersion when I’m approaching a turn and have to start concentrating on throttling, clutching and shifting, and do it the way the game requires, not in a “realistic” way.
Just downloaded it from UK store, from latest addons. Ill give it a blast later…;-))…
Lol I gussed it was going to be free and I was actually right for once! Yay!
My o my. I just tried to download it and the following message came out: It is not possible to purchase this item at the moment.
Is available in Europe. Download mine a few moments ago, gave it a good thrashing around Trial Mountain on Sports Hards. Fun, accessible, progressive, quick. Just like a Corvette.
Still nothing at Greece …” It is not possible to purchase this item at the moment”
When ????????
Wow. This car actually has a modelled interior! PD obviously had a meeting with Chevrolet to get this done.
Still not available in Europe?
Nice work PD. At 1500kg and 441bhp straight out of the box it cuts a pretty relaxed 7.40ish round the ring’ on it’s standard sports hards with everything off (online) Very predictable and balanced. I like how they locked all the tuning options out for this one well – oil change after two laps instantly bumped mine to 462bhp.
Tried to paint it &…
